The Alpha Pack: The Dawn of the Dead
Cover to be designed...aka this has elements that are unique enough that I need to custom design it and right now I have no time for that...cover due in November when I can get back to 3D modelling
"So, are we gonna scram or stay and fight?" asked Jennifer.
"Hmm...what do you guys prefer," said Harry, sneaking a glance at the now uncomfortably close pirate fleet.
"Considering the fuel remaining, I would suggest we just get the heck outta here," said Jason, "unless you want to get off the ship and deal with this?"
"Yes. Now that's an idea," said Jennifer, "Harry, what do you think?"
"I second that," he said and the two exchanged a hi five.
"Are you two out of your minds?" said Ben.
"Yes," they both said in unison and promptly burst into laughter.
"Guys," he said, frowning at them.
"Oh look, he's using the big brother look of extreme disappointment, we're so scared," said Harry, pretending to shake with fear.
Ben rolled his eyes. "Honestly you two...oh crap!!"
"What?" said Harry, turning back again to see a large rail gun round heading for the ship.
"Holy Crap," he muttered, as he yanked the throttle, causing the ship to spin sideways. The large steel rod just barely missed them, throwing up a shower of sparks as it scratched up the heat shield.
Harry braked rapidly in midair, throwing his hands up and using that to propel himself down rapidly, just about avoiding the five deadly streams of fire coming his way. Before they could sweep downward, he accelerated, getting under the lead starfighter and preventing the others from using their plasma canons.
The bottom mounted gun of the starfighter he was under swiveled around to point directly at his face. Dang. Outmaneuvered. Why do I always forget about the gun at the bottom? Giving himself a mental knock on the head, he casually grabbed the muzzle of the gun.
The gun fired.
The supersonic projectile rammed right into his hand. Blue veins along his arm glowed a bright dark cyan as the energy was absorbed and directed into his body along the veins. The energy snaked along the veins until it reached his chest where it flashed a brilliant blue and faded. The projectile fell back into the barrel, robbed of its energy and momentum. He pulled, ripping the gun right out of its mount. He propelled himself out from under the ship, flinging the torn off gun into the engine before swooping down towards the four other ships.
"This is TS Quagmire to unknown ship, please identify yourselves," said the monotonous modulated voice of whoever was currently piloting that ship.
"TS Quagmire, this is the Apricot Sundae," replied Harry. Ben put a palm to his head and leaned back with a sigh. Jennifer slapped a hand over her mouth to stop herself from bursting out laughing.
"Apricot Sun... wait a minute what?" said the voice. There was a beep and the voice of one Captain Sonotos came through the comms," Is that you Harry?"
"Busted," said Harry, smirking, "so....um...we're back."
Behind him, Ben banged his head on the chair repeatedly while Jennifer almost fell of her chair laughing.
