arrrr
The hardest part of writing science fiction is knowing actual science. The same applies for me and realistic fiction.

Hello Crewmates!

And with that, we have officially reached the double digits in the number of weeks we have been competing. That's a long time!

Many of your stories are reaching quite the number of words and length. At this same wordcount, many novels would be just around the beginning of Act 2 or their midpoint. This time is usually a time of rest in the story, as the hero's journey needs a break from the climax of Act 1, and so the beginning of Act 2 can often introduce new characters, plotlines, and developments. However, this also brings out a lull. For regular stories, this is needed, but for roleplays, this can make writing hard. This lull is one of many things that marks the death of roleplays.

So! As you're continuing to write, my advice to you is this: to avoid lulls in your writing/roleplaying, raise the stakes for your characters. Create tension, dramatic irony, secrets, open plot threads. Craft a web of strings that are open ended, so when one plot thread is cut off, there are plenty of others to grab to continue writing.

And with that, happy sailing~ there will be a write in Thursday ^^
