He was smiling to himself. "That right there." He pointed to Marcella as she gave Mattathias a hug. "That's the best thing anyone can hope for. That pure love of a child. Having someone who'll take time to let you know you're not alone."

Ky nodded in agreement. "It's so important."

"I'm glad those kids are alright." He watched as Tomhas lifted both children into his arms then scooped Oscar up as well. "I remember how nervous Gaius was about them. Sara was fine; she's always fine. She has a good head on her shoulders. But I remember seeing those kids for the first time and knowing for sure they'd be fine. They're smart, sweet kids just like their cousins, and they're going to do great things."

"They are," Ky agreed with a nod. "They all have so much potential -- from Lyra all the way down to Regulus. A wonderful brood, to be sure."

"Sometimes I wish I had some kids to be proud of, too. But the light coming off of my nieces and nephews is enough for me, I think. I'm a busy man, after all."

"That's fair." Ky nodded. "Kids are a lot of work."

"Imagine running a tailoring business, taking care of my aunt, and having a bunch of little me's running about underfoot!" Wick chuckled. "I'd lose my mind before sundown."

Ky laughed. "I imagine it'd be easier with a partner. I couldn't imagine doing it alone."

"That's true, but I've been an eligible bachelor all my life and only one fellow's come to call. Not my type at all."

"That's rough." Ky wrinkled her nose.

Wick shrugged. "I'm only thirty-one; anything could happen. I could meet a beautiful cobbler one day and we could open a joint business!"

"That's true!" Ky said encouragingly. "That'd be wonderful having a life partner with all the same goals as you. I wish you the best."

"Why, thank you." Wick dipped his head to her and smiled. "I wish you the best as well."
Tomhas hoisted first Marcella, then Mattathias, then Oscar into the head of the cat. They all cheered and held tightly to each other so as not to slip off.

"Thank you." Ky nodded, returning the smile. "There's hope for us yet. Tomhas says so."

"I've found that Tomhas is wise for his age, so that's a safe bet." Wick began to walk over to help Tomhas with the children.
