Although not technically yet knighted, this squire should not stop his plunder of the green room when there are still treasures to be had!
One morning, in the crunching cold, Knight Rydia rode out across her lands to survey the peace-keeping at the village Fairdale.
However, all was not well.
A great sadness had come across the people for the winter was mightily cold and food was scarce to be had. There were broils in the streets and one man challenged his neighbour to a duel over the price of a loaf of bread.
Knight Rydia was greatly saddened, but as she begun to dismount, she paused and stayed her foot, for sprouting out of the barren land was a single flower. The knight dismounted more carefully and gently plucked the bloom from the ground.
As the Knight passed through her village of Fairvale, the fighting stopped in the streets and the people turned with wearied cheers and hollow eyes. Knight Rydia rode solemnly to the village green and here she planted the flower with great care and great sadness and as she rose, the flower shone and not an eye could be drawn away.
Beneath the flower, the ground was made green again and the life spread through the village, drawing trees from their long sleep and flowers from their graves. The wave of life spread further and further, until it reached the outer-fields, where the crops wriggled free of the dust and the dirt and stood proud.
The people rejoiced again for they had been saved, but they were humbled by the atrocity of their actions and the beautiful caring of their Lady saviour. From this day on, the people of Fairvale vowed to live by the flower and not by the lance.
Knight Auxii has no inspiration for a short story, but has now obtained a horse and called it "Squirrel". She has also renamed her sword "Stick, her shield "Bark" and her helm "Acorn".
