In this latest batch I think 21, 22, and 24 are some of my favorites. (I also really like poem 11 from the first page). And the song you posted for 22??! was absolutely gorgeous and expressive! Thanks for sharing these sound!

This one's a little different - more indirectly on theme. I wrote this song for my sister today (it's her bday soon) and don't really have more creative energy to spare, so I'm counting this as today's poem.

Lyrics:

With wings on your back as you swayed

so when i read the words I've read over and over
that the father so loved the world that he sent you
i know both of you loved the world, and you were not forced
for this is the love of the trinity
made known to us

this isn't really a poem. it's more of a love letter of gratitude.
you've given me joy inexpressible. because of you i have
hope not just for today, or tomorrow, but for eternity. you've
given me something to look forward to that's more than just
the temporary little joys this life has to offer, and it's the
exceedingly great pleasures of knowing you as a king,
as a brother, as a friend. as a savior, redeemer
restorer, deliverer. as the one who brings justice on behalf
of the afflicted, and as the one who hears and responds
on behalf of the ones he loves. it's because of who you are
that i can live with joy and hope and expectation in my
heart. i can face tomorrow because you did. i can face
tomorrow because you accomplished what you meant to
on the ross: you made a way for me to be reconciled to
God our father so that i can live with you forever. and
because of this, there is no fear in death - because i know
just as you were risen from the grave, so will i be. and
when that day comes - when that day comes - i will weep
with joy, for i will get to see your face. the face of the one i love

I'm thankful that i have a friend
who i can trust
will care
no matter what i bring to him
he's listening
he's there
and even when i feel so week
and like i have no words
i know that i don't have to speak
and my heartache is heard

Congratulations on making it to 30 sound!! 31 was really sweet and I think that poem 32 was a really sharp conclusion for the whole collection, and the short lines really help capture the drama of just what's being said too. These have been interesting but also in many ways encouraging to read this month. <3
