I think I'm taking a leaf out of Scarli's book and pushing for an end goal, at least the halfway mark. Six more poems? Psh, puh-leaz, just tie my perfectionism to the mast and bring on the mediocre poetry.

9.
accidental

silhouetted sighs
slip out of your mind;
let me commune here

hand waves on the tide
prone to slip the mind

__________i wander
where does the vapour go
__________i wander
in its homebound accident?

hold on to my name
as subtext pulls away
__________i wander
__________where does
__________in its
hold onto me in time

i’ll slip out of your mind.

10.
i don't know where i am

cracking twigs at dusk with each leading foot gamble
has an affinity with nightmare curtains
closing in, closing in,
where a twig snap has no ear to hear itself
so you keep walking, keep falling into dimmer vision
because don't you know
there is nothing provable at this hour.
i sucked in between the long shadows
when my self was at its lowest
and like a new moon i muddled in wilderness
darker than i.

i waited
and waited
to be filled.

11.
contradiction

it was something about
the way she breathed
like a rapid wind of change
that could immortalise
the ugliest face

12.
if we could throw ourselves away

if we could throw ourselves away
like cigarette butts, bootsquashed, ground into ground
for the sake of forgiveness
could we find ourselves again in those unlikely places

the bus seat chasms____the confessional is an echo
throw up gutters____and i am convinced to my stomach
choking bird throats____it's what's inside that counts

or maybe finding is easier
than owning?

if we could throw ourselves away
how far away would we throw them
for the sake of forgiving everyone else?

13.
millennia from now

a chalky hum
a planet's horizon curve and
a Zen oh to last eternity

layers and layers and layers of bone shells
long since deconstructed, to sand, to eye corner sleep
beaches of them
you are trapped in the sediment
beneath the lives after you
above the lives before you

but memory is gone

a passing starmap with no
constellations no
reason for them no
creature to blink upward no
map

14.
early riser

you could not exist yet.
consciousness loses signal around the minutes,
dips below sea level to the dream syrup,
and you stir with the taste of it
coating your mind.

and now you're there –
at the kitchen windowsill
with hair pressed nest-like to your nape
on a thoughtless pilgrimage.

there's something new coming;
the birds know it,
the air gushes with it.
yet it's a trope you've seen before.

like a familiar face
tied by something thicker than water
you feign exasperation
and let it happen anyway.

15.
sunflower dog years

i am alone but
that's what you're for
to give to

any rifts of mine
i'll give to you
in sunflower dog years

a rebellion
against the self
for both of us

you are alone but
that’s what i’m for
to give to

Good job writing 15 poems!

I remember asking you why you weren't participating in NaPo at the start of April and you were like meh. Compare that to THIS - you completed half of it! Congrats!
