APRIL MADNESS

Apologies that this is late this year, but it's a YWS tradition - so let's try to keep it going? Sign up if you'd like to join in the madness. (note I'm basically copying the wonderful @Rydia's formatting with some accommodations and dates switched to work with the late sign-up/start) You don't have to be participating in NaPo to sign up to compete - though the poems do have to have been written in April.

What is April Madness?

18 Poets face off against one another to be named the supreme poet of YWS! They compete in a series of rounds, each poet submitting a poem to be compared with their opponent's.

The Competitors

Please post in this thread to sign up for one of the places.

Sign ups will run until the 5th April .

If we have more or less than 16 - round pairings/set-up may be adjusted.

Judges

@alliyah
@fraey
@Aley
@Meshugenah
@LordWolf

(please let me know if you would like to help judge, we could take 1 or 2 more possibly - it does not prevent you from taking part. If I added your name and you don't want to be a judge let me know asap.)

Contestants

1. @fraey
2. @Aley
3. @ellasnotebook
4. @fishsashimi
5. @niteowl
6. @Querencia
7. @GigiNicole17
8. @Liberty500
9. @PenguinAttack
10. @Meshugenah

12. @tgirly
13. @TheSilverFox
14. @Audy
15. @Ventomology
16. @Magestorrow
17. @DEA
18. @alliyah

*sign-ups are closed*

The Rules

1. Poems are to be written in April.
2. Poems may be any genre or length.
3. Poems must be submitted on this thread (either the poem or a link to it) by 10:00pm CDT on the day of the round.
4. A poet may not use a poem that's been submitted to a previous round.

What will the contest look like?

Bracket style - you can look at last year's for an example -> April Madness 2018 though it'll look different with the different numbers.

I'll make a pretty excel document with the participants listed later -

Spoiler! :
Here's the 16 person bracket model (doesn't include the "loser's bracket" from which will fill the two gray spots) Image

I probably shouldn't, but SIGN ME UP.

(also, where's @Rydia for me to go up against? I mean, it's foregone conclusion that I'll see some combination of @PenguinAttack, @Audy, @Aley, and/or @alliyah, because that is just What Happens, yo)

This sounds fun! Slightly terrified by the veteran lineup here, but it doesn't hurt to give it a try, so count me in! Probably a silly question, but can competing poems also be NaPo poems?

Yay! I am glad to see this filling up so quickly! :D

@paperforest yes, you can absolutely use poems written that are part of your NaPo count, as long as they're written in April!

Also if somehow all the spots get filled tomorrow, people ought to still sign up if they're interested in participating - I have very little bracket making skills - but I'll figure out a 20 or 24 person bracket if needed.

yee, signing up
