Hypothetically

if
i could collect
some song lyrics and piece them together,
bit by bit
would i create a masterpiece?

creativity
comes and goes
too quickly, before i can gather my senses-
and realize
that it would return.

so
as i sit in a noisy crowd with nothing to do
ideas will come
and i must let them free-
before
they escape my fragile grasp.

Blocked

"You know, I blocked your number for five months. So I didn't get any of the texts."
was it because i knew the undenying truth that came from you,
or concealed the burning story i had to share?
we're both unsorry for our actions; what regret is there anyway?
we're both young and stupid, unknowing of what waits for us.
yet why do i still wait for you?

(in replacement of 4/14)
Spoiler! :
@blueafrica - for the prompt!

What I Wait For

Enspoilered for violence and language.

Spoiler! :
i remember sitting on a dinner table last saturday
consciousness, like a befallen bird, was slipping in and out of sight
the person i was lingered in the corner of the room
before vanishing.
my unrelenting mouth ran and ran and ran and my brain, exhausted, tripped
and fell over, hitting my chopsticks which flipped upside down in the soup bowl.

yes, the competition was over, but
that was only the end of a thousand beginnings -
for there was more come.

i lost sleep for what had happened that day
i cried for days to prepare for what happened that day
i stared at the wall, the clock reading eleven PM, for what happened that day
i asked what the pills were on my mother's nightstand for what happened that day

i hope it was worth it
was it?

i hope burning out will bring me future success
along with:
-taking a knife and carving out my very being
-strangling it with a twine rope
-beating it, twisting its thin neck
will let people recognize me for what i do.

i hope standing in front of a mirror,
-as an unrecognizable figure mocks me,
-as i realize an icy cage locks me
-as my mother, furious, talks to me
will make me a wiser, more experienced person.

this is what i wait for
this is what i pray for
this is what i play for
this is what i sing for
this is what i write for
this is who i die for -

look
at the person
that, through my pain,
i will never, for an eternity, become.

i remember sitting on the bus that same saturday
the girl i was shifted in front of me
my mind, however, disregarded her
grabbed his phone, and his phone, because i felt so goddamn fucking
stupid
typed
laughed
and without a second thought, the girl and i let it all happen.

queendom plantae

you said your favorite color was green
for the plants you scattered around the house,
for the sight of wildflowers that could be seen.
their scent lingers still, infinitesimally.
i rush by, overlooking the small pleasures of life,
as you preen the peace lily leaves so delicately,
and i prepare to cut them upon your command with a knife.

Whoa, that took an unexpectedly creepy turn. Even though it could just mean pruning or taking cuttings for a vase or something.

leaves

if people were trees
and emotions become leaves,
we would all be evergreen,
(just pine trees to be seen)

yet i feel deciduous,
my feelings, ambiguous
and sometimes, i can't tell
if i'm a tree that has fell

photoshopping

(in replacement of 4/13)

do you want to go to the mall,
to go photoshopping with the rest of us,
searching for products that claim to:

1) make your eyes bigger - or pop,
whatever term you prefer, there'll be a product for you.

2) make your waist slimmer - physically,
accentuate your curves, tuck in your tummy,
wear whatever dress you please.

3) make your skin flawless - no spots,
give yourself a radiating, youthful glow
that will light up the room,
(and certainly light up that personality of yours.)

so after we left the mall with full hands,
got Starbucks, turned the corner to the car,
i realized i didn't want to go photoshopping
anymore

blank

a blank slate
without words
simply black stone.

the chalk is snapped
into tiny bits
unable to be used
for it falls apart.

my mind lies idle,
as a pupil
waiting
for the teacher
to direct the class.

who will
write on the slate?
my mind is frozen,
my eyes locked on
the emptiness.
yet my body

walks back
to the chair.

Running Out Of Reality

from 4/10 in my English notebook, with edits

to occupy my idle mind
i drift until the darkness will let me drown
a veil of hidden facades lurk by
to occupy my idle mind

the monsters dance and sing their songs
my consciousness ends up taking to heart
the little breadth of hope left sighs
to occupy my idle mind

from the caverns a clock throws its curse
idyllic thoughts are banished, replaced
sleep calls faintly in the twinkling light
to haunt my feverish mind

To be a master of metaphor is the greatest thing by far. It is the one thing that cannot be learnt from others, and it is also a sign of genius.
— Aristotle, Poetics
