#13 -

And here it begins again,
What solemn prayer
Leads through the halls
To the sunken wreck
Of yesterday's celebrations.
I am somehow alone
And waitinf for clean up crew
That has no intention of arrival.
And like last time and all the others
I begin with the hope of rest.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

#14 - sleep

Working day to day
The slow morning fades
And night begins burning
Bright and limitless and
Too fast to see the hours turn
Before the morning again
And work again
And drive again
And again
To watch the second hand
Tick unhurried toward
Evening time and all it means
And see the glacial impact
Of time in your bones
Well that and again
Til night comes
And we speed
Toward the inevitable
And entirely
Necessary end.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

#15 -

I do not find solace
In the empty page
Waiting to be filled
I am tired
Of its expectation.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

#16 -

I move forward;
Tentative and sharp,
Platypus diving between stones
Confident of where to go
And blind to the way.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.
