Almost
I hesitate just a second too long
And what could have been is gone
The moments we could have had
Who we could have been
What we could have been together
Gone like a wisp of smoke
And we are left behind
Trying to figure out what to do now

Schrodinger's Relationship
In that breath between
When we both hesitate
For the slightest second
We are Schrodinger's relationship
Both alive and dead at once
We are both partners
And just simply friends
Eagerness and wariness
And until the second ends
We have a million
And one possiblilities
Laid out before us

I want to love you all my days
Till we are old and grey
I want to share every moment with you
All the laughter and tears
The smiles and the frowns
But we are young
And I don't know who I will be
In three year's time
But it terrifies me
That any version of me
Could not be madly in love
With any version of you

Versions Of Me
No one ever really sees
The person who hides away
They only ever see the me
That I put forward for them
Making them see
What I want them to see
There are whole other
Versions of me
That no one will ever see

Trust
When you first start out
Trust is unthinking
You don't even recognize
That you are trusting someone
Giving away small pieces of you
That they could use to hurt you

Then, trust is deliberate
You know that you do it
So it is sturdy under your feet
Giving you comfort as it grows
Ever stronger under your care
As you give away more pieces

Then, in a single moment
Even with a single word or deed
It all comes crashing down around you
And what you thought was so strong
Turns out to be nothing but glass and air
And you are left to free fall as the trust is broken
