XIII.

I exist in
The space between the stars
The silence between each breath
The smoke that trails from bonfires

Scattered pieces of you glow bright
Like the stars nestled in the blackness
The silver sound of drawing breath
A blaze of heat in the night

They trace patterns in the sky
From one shining point to the next
Naming constellations in rainfall whispers
They call this love
The way you fill the emptiness of me
The way your form molds around the edges of my being
They look on and long to touch a distant light
May or may not have been known in a former life as DragonLily

XIV.

When I was a child I longed to reach up
And catch hold of a handful of stars
Bury my face in their glittering icy glow
Breathe in their sharp coolness

Looking back on to the end of eternity
I find them sprinkled through the fields of memory
Lighting a distant path I long to tread

Dreams dwell among the stars
They dance in the stillness of midnight
Earthbound, I stand in my backyard
Gazing up in wonder
Waiting for the day
The wings of faith I have nurtured
Stretch far enough to carry me away
May or may not have been known in a former life as DragonLily
