2018 Main Discussion Thread

Welcome to the Main Discussion Thread for National Poetry Writing Month 2018! In case you haven't heard yet, National Poetry Writing Month is a month-long event where we endeavor to celebrate all things poetry! Traditionally those who take part in NaPo try to do one poem for each day of the month, though others will go at their own pace doing more or less poems. To Sign up, post a thread here!

You'll find the links to everyone's NaPo threads below, as well as the other Main Announcement and Information threads here as they come up. This will be your main place for finding announcements and important links for all the NaPo happenings.

Also we encourage you to feel free to also use this area to chat about your own NaPo experiences along the way! Share what's inspiring you or little posts of encouragement to keep everyone motivated to write.

We wish you the best of luck on your 2018 NaPo journey!

-Poetry Crew

How's everyone's NaPo writing going? Still coming up with new ideas?

Don't forget to check out @Audy's super neat Neapolitan contests that are ran daily, you just might be a winner!

Also if you want to procrastinate on the writing poetry side a bit, you could weigh in on this discussion topic that @Aley posted: What is your motivation for writing poetry?.

We've just about completed one week of NaPo!! Keep up the fabulous work everyone. :) I've personally really enjoyed reading what people have written so far, and getting to know your poetic styles a little better.

Time flies when you're having fun... and somehow we're already over half-way done with April!

Keep up all the amazing poetry work everyone! Whether you've already written 30 poems like @LadyLizz, @Kanome, @Killeham or are taking NaPo at your own pace I hope everyone is able to accomplish their goals this April. And we might be half-way done with the month, but there's still plenty of time to poet if you're not quite where you'd like to be yet.

And we've got one week of NaPo left! :]

Congratulations to everyone who has finished up or exceeded writing 30 poems in the last week and congratulations to everyone who is meeting their writing goals whatever they may be!

If you're not quite to your goal yet, remember there's still time to poet and that ultimately NaPo is not about numbers but challenging yourself and working on your poetry skills.

If you think you've earned some of the NaPo badges this month (like Poem a Day or the Jam Master challenge), stop on over to the Contest Thread and leave the links or records of what badges you've earned.

Also as we come to the end of NaPo, this is a great time to post some encouragement or comments on people's threads you've been following. Personally, I've enjoyed reading everyone else's threads just as much as writing my own this April. Best of luck as you continue your NaPo journey!

And here we are on the last day of April nearing the end of our 2018 NaPo journey! It's been fun reading and writing with everyone & I have to say there's been some really wonderful poetry throughout this month.

Don't forget to claim your badges if you've completed NaPo (30 total poems) or any of the other challenges in the Contest Thread. We don't want to forget you, if you've earned yourself a badge! :)

Also if you want to discuss how your NaPo experience went, feel free to do so in this thread! What were the challenges? What were the victories? Did you meet your goals?

Here's my last post on the discussions page until next year!

Friendly reminder that if you'd like to receive your badges for completing NaPo or Poem-A-Day make sure to throw a post in the Contest Thread saying which ones you've earned. And we'll try to get those to you as soon as possible. Also if you have any poems to edit, this is coming up!

Back to the Basics:
Poetry Review and Edit Workshop

So NaPo has just ended around the site, and you know what that means! There's a lot of poetry around the site to edit and review! But where do you even get started? If you're looking for a 3 step process for doing either of those things, hop on over to my workshop this Sunday.

It'll be at
(that should be auto adjusted to appear in your time zone)

I'll be posting a link to the Writers Feed Pad for the workshop on my wall when it's open, if you have any questions feel free to let me know, all are welcome! - hope to see some of you there! :)
