An Adventure in Anagrammatic Poetry: Brother and Sister


Stars rise as a border to the barren earth.

There Brother and Sister sit,

robed in briars and brass,

heirs to the throne.



Brother and Sister rise

hand in hand.

Brother and Sister share hearts and breaths,

their bonds neither torn nor erased.



The heirs ride on

astride their horses.

Their orders to enter the eastern shrine

and tend to the rites ordained at their birth

reside in their hearts.



The roads beneath hinder and strain

the horses’ broad breaths.

The trees behind retain their berries

and resist the raids ordered on the others.



Brother and Sister rise near the shrine.

It is rather torn, as the stories state.

Brother and Sister stride in and toss their tears on the debris.



Neither Brother nor Sister resent the sinners that rioted here,

the sinners that tried to erase the shrine.

Brother and Sister share the sinners’ tears.

Brother’s and Sister’s hearts are not barren.

Their hearts are harried and torn,

not barren.

April 16th

“You cannot sleep now, there are monsters nearby.”

True, I suppose, there are monsters here.

Monsters like homework,

and tests,

and quizzes,

and papers,

and projects,

and countless other things clouding my mind.

I know during the school year, you have to let some things slide.

Just let go of the things you want to do in favor of what you need to do.

And that’s okay, but that’s not what’s happening here.

Here it’s gotten to the point where I not only can’t do the things I want to, but I sometimes can’t do the things I need to.

Like sleep.

Sleeping is essential for a human’s life, but I think at this point, my grades are more important.

So I guess for now my motto is:

“You cannot sleep now, there are monsters nearby.”

An angel lives inside her
Her soul is filled with holy light
Though their wrath she may incur
An angel lives inside her
Though her soul she must inter
To their attempts to smite
An angel lives inside her

April 18th

Sitting there

on the hardwood chair.

Staring at the screen

the glowing, blank machine.

Completely lost for words,

thoughts flee my mind like birds.

The night is at its peak.

My outlook is quite bleak.

My eyes begin to close.

The whole process slows.

I shake myself awake.

There’s no chance of a break.

This paper’s dying while still aborning

So my chance of sleep I’m mourning.

A Cross Between an English Sonnet and an Acrostic


Letting go is the hardest thing to do.

Op’ning my heart, closing it once again.

Venerating a heart I thought was true.

Ever thought that this love would cause me pain?


Seeing you run away from me, my love,

Taking with you my now broken remains.

Away you stride, my love you walk out of.

You treat my amor as if it were chains.


What did I do to deserve your scorn?

Indelicate am I in your strange mind?

Too different from you was I sadly born?

How much of my love was actually blind?


My heart is what you would say is to blame,

Even though you chose to set it aflame.

We were told you wanted to find the light.
Your home, you wanted to go to.
We got the news last night.

We heard you looked like a meteorite.
The dark night you cut through
after you took flight.

We heard about the height
where you bid this world adieu.
