Notebook

Little one, wrapped in black
swaddled close with leather strap
Tell me,
tell me,
where was I when I was last upon your spine?

I wish to see my dreams laid free
my wonderment, my merriment, my glee,
or was I much more morose
languidly staring at the gross reality of life?

Was I studying a book, had something to say once more?
I wish to know, but you are held shut tight
and I dare not remove you, dare not disturb your rest

tell me
tell me
where will I be by the end of your white purity?
I know only what is near, and what has passed
is far from here, but please, please, bear to me
what I will say when I am thirty three.

Safety Scissors

She was the dancing golden blonde ringlet girl of Saranip
before it was her time to play with scissors, snip, snip.

in hail her

To gape at you is to see Nature's purity, your beauty is of the skies
for I cannot help but fall anaphylactically, and close my dead eyes.

Dreams of Google

Atop the brevity of green which is our summer grass
you lose gravity, and dance upon the clouds
Screaming towards the sky as it collapses beneath you
and suddenly you are atop it all,

but are you floating in this? Is this real?
It is natural for you as I look on, my poise beneath the hilltop
petrified to reach that crux of mystery where the air thickens
and is as stable as the ground to walk upon
or is it wind that has gusted you above? Pushed you up
stronger than gravity and your mass combined?

Either way, I cower from the sight.

Empty Chair

You are the missing beside me
the silent whisper of regrets
and louder screams of anger.

We were so close before,
you would hold my hand
cradle my cheek, kiss me.

Today, you won't even sit with me
you hide inside, cower from the sunset
and escape in your dreams, whispering
names I've never heard, twisted in blankets
I've never touched, and pleading in delight.

Are we broken?
Have you left
and simply forgot
to warn me I must
go too?

I miss you.

Best Friends

My soul is a car smoldered so hot
the pavement has melted beneath me.
I've created an asphalt box of my decay
and you adhere to it, afraid to pry me
from my given fixture, for fear of others
catapaulting to their doom
when they do not see my mess.

Sometimes wisdom came from strange places, even from giant teenaged goldfish.
