Poem number one:

Just Like Heaven

I breathe in the fresh air,
And relax as I drift away.
Running hands through my hair,
Here I'll always stay.
Safe from harm or pain,
Forever spiritually happy,
Where my sadness is contained,
And feelings aren't sappy.
Taking in that sweet peace,
I find my lost song.
My energy now increases...
Here I will remain strong.
You can't blame the writer for what the characters say.
— Truman Capote

Poem number two:

Global Warming

When summer comes,
So does global warming.
My thoughts start swarming!
When I begin to sweat,
I check the weather--
It'll be hot in September?!
When the sun rises,
I get a fast heartbeat;
Oh such intense heat!
When winter passes,
I stay with the AC;
Come hide with me!
When people ask me why--
I don't know how I began
But said, "Cause, I'm a snowman!"
You can't blame the writer for what the characters say.

Third poem:

If

If, my love, you had it all,

And you could change it

Would it be my downfall?

Or would it be to my benefit?

You can't blame the writer for what the characters say.

Fourth poem:

Hanging Tree

Why do they hang on the tree?

Their faces, faces--there're three.

They killed a man by the name, Paul.

And his family lost happiness and all.

The three hang, hang by day and

For the murders there they'll stay.

Paul never imagined to die--

But there he lie staring at the sky.

Staring with his eyes dim,

His face showed pain and it looked grim.

They took a precious life--his life--

Killed him with a knife!

Now they hang on a tree.

They hang, yes, all murderous three.
You can't blame the writer for what the characters say.

Fifth poem:

When You Depart

Watch as the willow dances in the wind,

And the clouds open in the endless sky.

Listen to birds singing in the afternoon,

As they hop from tree to tree and fly by.

Feel the balmy sun beat upon your back

While you follow the course of the wind.

Relax and breathe in the fresh spring air,

And clear vile thoughts from your mind.

Speak of the beautiful places you've been;

Hold dear memories close to your heart;

Open your wings to soar above the world;

And with the King of kings joyfully depart.
You can't blame the writer for what the characters say.

Sixth poem:

Show Me

Take me down where the poppies grow,

And jolly people sing all day long.

Teach me to be happy and to let go;

Oh, teach me a nobler, sweeter song.

Bring me back to my pleasant childhood,

When I never worried about tomorrow.

May I never again be in this sort of mood--

A long suffering one of endless sorrow.

Break the chain that keeps me caged,

And the lock that holds my heart.

I want to again smell the wondrous sage;

I want to be renewed—a fresh start. . .

Take me to the open fields where I can rest;

Show me the joy of being here at your side.

Help me remember that I've been blessed

To be your one and only thankful bride.
You can't blame the writer for what the characters say.

'Like' and 'equal' are two entirely different things.
