I have been writing. Honest. >.> Still not quite caught up, but oh well.

Acrostic

My world was different without you,
Adequate only in its form and function
Though I never would have guessed;
There I was, drifting through, looking for
Happiness in all sorts of places, yet feeling
Empty all the same, until you
Whirled into my world.

May I suggest that
You changed it all?

Love has that effect, I suppose:
Our worlds have collided and
Violently so — who would have guessed
Everything in our lives would suddenly turn on its head?

I wouldn’t have — and yet…

Love also has that effect
Of offering so much more; a purpose which seems
Very frightening diving into, yet
Evolving into something more than one could ever expect.

Yes — the love startles me even now and
Often I am taken off guard when I look
Upon your face and realizing that we are.
Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.

Toy Store

Beware of taking a kid into a toy store!
For they’ll look around and want more, more, more!
That dinosaur with that toothy grin,
That bear that likes to sing and sing,
The jack-in-the-box — always a surprise,
Will make them smile and light up their eyes.
They’ll want them all, there’s no stopping them!
They'll stir up trouble and cause so much mayhem!

The only cure, I'm afraid to say,
Will happen when they have kids someday...

Laundry

Laundry piles up
Dreaming for that human touch
When cleaned and folded.

Hold It Steady

Hold it steady
Both hands
And ignore the
Jolt as the spring
Fires.

Do not think of the fabric
Ripping apart, or the
Once living substance
Split apart from the
Cells it had grown up
With.

Just grit your teeth and fire.
The gun will tremble in your hand
But it’s all right:

Those chairs need to be reupholstered.
Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.

I think I have thankfully avoided being quoted.
