1. empty pages

snowy, empty pages stretching out
for miles, blank and lonely, floating
in the dark spaces between the stars;
bright yet dark, a sly foreshadowing,
growing wildly, of things yet to come.

the chilling darkness rising, gloating
covering white with black, breaking down
in the dark spaces between the stars;
shadows and silence, growing wildly,
the rising thunder of a beating drum.

snowy, empty pages stretching out
covering black with white, lingering
in the dark spaces between the stars;
bright yet dark, shadows and silence,
growing wildly, speaking of things to come.

Scaaar! The rhythm in this is so delicious. It's a lot of fun to just read. The concept too of that empty page as this barren landscape, I feel that fear/anxiety perhaps from writer's block, likened to a writer's own sense of needing to survive. Keep up the good work ^^

2. let's pretend

i like to sleep outside at night
and stare up at the skies,
watching the moon glow brightly
and stars wheel overhead.

let's pretend we're young again,
carefree and wild
just staring up at the stars,
watching the world go by.

i like to sleep outside by day
and watch the clouds roil by
as the sun glows through brightly
and the birds wheel overhead.

let's pretend we're young again,
wild and carefree,
watching as the sun sets
and the moon rises.

i like to sleep outside by day
or by night, and watch
the glow of red and gold;
a world wheeling overhead.

let's pretend we're young again,
for the rising
and setting of the sun
is quite beautiful indeed.

3. fierce and proud

she dances, there beneath the skies and
in the dark spaces between the stars
where gods and devils do reside
and seek to split a young girl in two.

there, she sways like a tree in a blizzard,
snow billowing about her like cherry blossoms
and rose petals; there be dragons here,
fierce and proud.

she dances, there beneath the skies and
in the dark spaces between the stars
where gods and devils do reside,
seeking souls split in two with lies.

there, she sways like a tree in a blizzard,
snow billow around her like falling leaves
and dancing wisps; there be dragons here
fierce and proud.

she dances, there beneath the skies
and in the dark spaces between the trees
where gods and devils do reside,
darting about like falling leaves.

4. wings of glass

when I gaze up at the night sky,
I see dragons made of starlight
gliding on wings of glass;
I feel they could shatter at a glance,
and I wish for the days of old.

do you see them
when you gaze up at the stars?
do you see the dragons
made of starlight and glass?

gaze up at the night sky with me
and watch those majestic beasts
glide between the stars
and hide in the dark spaces
most fail to see.
