Introduction

In celebration of YWS's upcoming birthday, here is a contest inspired by the site. The name of the game is to write a three-line acrostic using the letters 'Y','W' and 'S'. An acrostic is a poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word. The left-hand side column of your poem should look like:

Y . . .
W . . .
S . . .

Or:

y . . .
w . . .
s . . .

etc.

The theme of the poem is up to you. Some ideas could be writing poetry in celebration of the site, or poetry about anniversaries, or poetry about the colour blue.

Rules

1. No plagiarism. That means no taking whole lines from the works of others, or submitting a poem someone else wrote.
2. The poem must be an acrostic for 'YWS'.
3. One entry per person.
4. The poem must be submitted to this thread before the closing date to be considered for the contest.
5. This contest does allow more graphic content / darker themes in poetry, but please enspoiler your poem with warnings if it contains such material or if it includes swearing. (Both here and on the People's Tab) Also keep in mind that this is a contest for a celebratory event.

Prizes

1st place - 100 points
2nd place - 75 points
3rd place - 50 points

Other Directions

When you submit your poem to this thread, please also share it on the People's Tab with the hashtag #YWSacrostics so everyone can get into the Birthday Week festivities.

Submissions Closing Date

Good luck and have fun!

Edit: Added prizes!

Young writers come here,
Writers wanting to learn and grow; a

You might not expect it, but this
Warm group of writers, and poets, and artists, and chickens
Seem to be able to create quite a magical community of creativity ~
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return

You come to write, never hoping that you would discover,
What was considered a myth you could never uncover;
So much happiness in one place, that you stay forever.

youth makes you need to write, a solitary pursuit, and yet you
want to share your words, feel less alone, and
so you come here.

years collect, like smoothed slivers of sea-glass
washed up against our hearts and whispering wise
secrets: everything to know about writing and friendship.
When you're faced with something you don't understand, I think the most natural thing but also least interesting thing you can be is afraid.

yellowing leaves point to the passage of time, falling upon these
wearied roads that have been traversed by feet of
souls, who hope to change the world with the eloquence of their words.
Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy, she berated herself.

"To friendship!" they had toasted, before downing their respective drinks and acquiring thick chocolatey moustaches.

You have such a soft voice,
While I lie and listen,
So lovely is the book you read
Oh you just have to wait, and peace will come to you!
