i wander
In city of dead
Searching for the echoes
Of a soul inside me
I follow the shadows
I follow the whispers
But only his sillage kisses me
Glassy eyes and smoky lips
On Unsteady feet
I look for my kindered spirit
Lilies on a headstone i leave
And in haze I perish away

Not sure what this is but apparently it's a poem

Spoiler! :
Candle wax trickled
like melted toffee
but it couldn't keep you warm.

Here lies
an acid green garden of fake fears
to keep you company, to keep you
(in)sane.
To keep you in.

Here lies
a homely skull to crawl into;
a place to carve a face
and laugh mellifluously
about death.

Here, you were never one to scare
easily. However,
superstition wove a fine web
- a fine line - and soon
your thought corners were full of it;
it kept you looking

out, behind, beyond,

until you saw yourself there - blood-eyed,
cursed, spooked, clawed, shadowed.
And no amount of
laughter
treats
fake fears
or candle wax
could keep you warm.

Spoiler! :
The change of colours
brings about a new change in my life.
For years, that soft phantom haunted me;
his cold touch grazing my skin;
his breath against my neck.
The goosebumps; the shivers.
Can't you feel it, too?
Your shortage of breath--
When you realize you're never alone?
Throat dry, palms sweaty--
You know you're not alone.
-
Don't turn around like I did.
He will touch you gently;
he will call your name
like the wind whispers;
soft, seductive, appetizing.
He is appealing to the body
yet he remains a monster.
Don't turn around like I did.
-
Starving, I turned.
Horror filled me, but I was frozen.
Like a baby suckles its mother's breast,
the wraith fell upon my neck--
nibbling ever so gently
until the metallic came.
Ever since then, every Hallow's Eve,
my shadow comes to visit me.
Can you feel him, too?
That one thought in your mind?
He's there...you're never alone.

As much as I really want to write a Skeleton Sonnet, I don't think I have it in me lol so have a ghost story.

My worst Fear

A poem I wrote a long time ago, never thought I'd use it for a Halloween contest
I don't act this way to change the world, I act this way so that the goddamn world won't change me!

You don't think I am weird? You don't know me at all.

A Spooky Announcement

A huge thank you to @AshTheMystique @CoffeeCat @Louisiana15 @niteowl @TheWeirdoFromBeyond & @SnowMonkey for participating in this Spooktober contest. Seriously, it's always a bit intimidating to host a contest because who knows if anyone will participate - so it really made my Halloween to be able to read all of your poems (which were excellent by the way). I hope you all enjoyed having a chance to write something spooky and read each other's work!

@Clarity and I had a tough job judging this, but were able to come to a decision.

So without further ado, here are the Spooky Poetry Challenge Winners:

3rd Place ------ CoffeeCat

2nd Place ------ niteowl

1st Place ------ SnowMonkey

Congratulations to everyone! And to the winners, expect your prizes soon!
