Spooktober Poetry Challenge

are you brave enough to enter?



It's Spooktober, the season to celebrate all things spooky. In honor of YWS's Spooktober celebration - we're holding a spooktakular contest!

Guidelines
* Your prompt is simply to write a Halloween themed poem. This can be horror or just spooky, interpretation is up to you! We just ask that there be clear Halloween tones to the piece. Pumpkins, Autumn, Cats, Candy, Bat Haikus, Skeleton Sonnets.

* One entry per person.

* There are no restrictions on poetic type; ie. free-verse and structured are both fine. We just want to see something spooky.

*All entries are due by (time & date auto-adjusted for your time-zone)

*Please leave a link to your piece or put it under a spoiler in the thread below.

i wander
In city of dead
Searching for the echoes
Of a soul inside me
I follow the shadows
I follow the whispers
But only his sillage kisses me
Glassy eyes and smoky lips
On Unsteady feet
I look for my kindered spirit
Lilies on a headstone i leave
And in haze I perish away

As much as I really want to write a Skeleton Sonnet, I don't think I have it in me lol so have a ghost story.

Seriously, it's always a bit intimidating to host a contest because who knows if anyone will participate - so it really made my Halloween to be able to read all of your poems (which were excellent by the way). I hope you all enjoyed having a chance to write something spooky and read each other's work!

@Clarity and I had a tough job judging this, but were able to come to a decision.
