Image

Directions:
Most contests require you to write something in order to win. This contest, just requires you to read something! Pretty easy right? Sometimes we get so busy reading and working on our own work on YWS we forget to appreciate the talent all around us, so this contest is designed to give everyone a chance to give a shout-out to a poem or two that they've enjoyed reading on the site.

To nominate a poem you think is worthy of winning the Reverse Poetry Contest, just post the link below before the deadline with a line or two about why you chose it. The line or two will be considered alongside the content of the piece.

Rules:
You may submit one, two, or three poems written by other users that have been posted through the publishing center on YWS within the past year. You can not submit a link to something you have written or co-written. Entries written by the judge will not be considered.

Deadline: REVISED --- 8/21/18
All entries must be submitted by .

Winners will be announced by the following week.

I’d like to nominate ana by @zaminami because I think that the repetition and styling in the poem is brilliant. I really like the way they described their dog, and that’s why I thought I’d nominate this poem.
Have a good day.

Okay so I decided to try looking at poems I've reviewed semi-recently, at which point I realized I really haven't reviewed much this year oops.

Anyway I'll nominate these two:

work/Saen/Passersby-141029#c652226

This is a lovely co-written piece about the struggles of creativity and wanting your work to be recognized. I especially enjoy the use of various imagery and metaphors to explore this concept.

work/Kale/disconnect-141214#c652224

This piece is short but powerful, and probably one of the more memorable pieces I've read on YWS. It's relatively straightforward at first read, but there's some interesting ambiguities that lead to multiple possible interpretations.

I wondered why we put villains in our stories when we have plenty of them in real life; then I realized that maybe we wanted stories where the good guy wins.
