Hi all, I tried to put this in the contests forum, but couldn't seem to post it up, so I thought I'd put it here. My apologies if it's the wrong spot.

For any young writers out there, Canongate (the book publishers) and Don’t Panic are running a short story writing competition. First prize is £150 worth of books plus a consulation with Canongate’s Senior Fiction Editor.

Best of luck to all!

The bigger the issue, the smaller you write. Remember that. You don’t write about the horrors of war. No. You write about a kid’s burnt socks lying on the road. You pick the smallest manageable part of the big thing, and you work off the resonance.
