So, I was watching Google Translate Sings on YouTube, and I had a great idea for a game.

Basically, what you do is take a quote from a book, movie, TV show, or anything else really, and put it through five or six different languages in Google Translate, than back to English and see how ridiculous it is. Post the original quote here and what it's from, and then put the Google Translate version! Have fun!

I'll start.

Original Quote: "I'm definitely a madman with a box!" - the Doctor from Doctor Who.

After Google Translate: "I certainly is crazy wardrobe!"

Erm, no they can't. XD

The original: "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." from Harry Potter
After translations: I swear it's so good.

The original: "The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant." from Doctor Who

After translations: "As I see it, there is a great deal in the goods and evils of life. Always he got rid of the hurt of the goods, the goods and evils that he will never be destroyed."

After translate:

...in my opinion, one of the best lyrics ever, becomes...

My original sentence was: "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day." (from Behemtoh by Scott Westerfeld).

After a few rounds of translation, it became:

So stop looking right twice a day.

Completely different meaning.

"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

After several rounds with the Japanese and Kazakh translators (not sure why I chose the Kazakh but I think that was what completely changed it)

"Monitor treasure your heart SE, where it exists."

Original: Everything happens for a reason.

Google's Version: All things happen for a reason.

Wow, I'm quite surprised at how close it came.

"All good things come to those who wait."

Google:

"Waiting for all the good things."

Having Ла Вос?

Went with: "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries."

Ended up with: Bilahrček (She hamster) your mother, father or her the elderberries. Slovenian was what got caught and carried through the translator. To back-translate, I had to separate Bilahrček into Bila hrček.
