Hi there everyone!
Meep here, just to voice out her current obsessions:
The Mortal Instruments Trilogy is a Fantasy genre trilogy, with an element of romance to amuse some girls, I guess.

City Of Bones:
Clary Fray is an ordinary human, or at least that's what she thinks, until an incident at a nightclub she went to, with her best friend, changes her view on the world forever (How cliched, I apologise XD)
Ordinary humans, otherwise known as mundanes and 'mundies' for short, are unable to see through 'glamour'. An illusion that only 'abnormal' people can see. Clary is one of them. She discovers that she is a Shadowhunter, a secret which her mother tried to shield her from. A Shadowhunter is a human with angel blood. So technically, they're not all that human, though they live and die like us. Also, demons and other Downworlders, (the opposite of Shadowhunters) exist, including vampires, werewolves (Nooo! This is definitely not Twilight), and such. Shadowhunters are responsible for finishing them off if they create havoc. Then we have your typical megalomaniac of a villain, Valentine, who wants to wipe out the Clave, which is like the government of the Shadowhunters, as he believes that they are corrupt.
~But you should read it, rather than I spill any secrets ;)

If you like the first book, go ahead and read the next one, City Of Ashes.
There are twists and turns so don't think that its your wholly average book.
The last book, City Of Glass, will be released in late March (and I'm dying to get my hands on it).
There's also a talk of a sort of 'prequel' to the story, set in earlier times, back when Shadowhunters first popped up.

The idea that appeals to me is the Angel blood and demon blood thing. Also, the other main character, Jace, makes the whole thing hilarious at times with his wit, especially when he bickers with Clary. I absolutely love humour and wit. And the lack of explicit *cringe* love scenes, makes it tolerable for guys. Though I did mention an element of romance.

A word of caution, which might leak some info, depending on how 'sharp' you are:
Depending on how strong your morals are, there is a... somewhat 'incestuous' quality in the last bit of the first book, which will carry on to the rest of the books. However, I really don't see it as a problem. I just don't know if your religion or moral beliefs would be offended or something. Like I said, there are no explicit scenes (e.g anything beyong *cringe* kissing), so its really just kept to the confines of the feelings of characters. Just thought you'd want to know. But I won't say who is involved.
~Another book that I'd STRONGLY recommend, like extremely strongly recommend, is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. You might have heard of it. Its a well, I'm not entirely sure, but it should be in the Sci-Fi genre. It captured my full attention throughout. It was impossible to part me with the book. Again, a slightest, really slight mention of romance. Why must everything have romance?!
But yeah, its rather insignificant, so no worries. One of my favourites, along with The Mortal Instruments. The second book, Catching Fire, is said to be released on September this year. *sniffle* I hate waiting for awesome books.

Hope you find my recommendations to your liking, and have a nice day everyone! :D

Oooohh! You like the mortal instruments too? I love them! City of Glass is going to be amazing, don't you think?

Just out of curiosity, at the end of City of Ashes, what did you think?
I mean where that lady was like 'I can tell you how to wake your mother up! Oh my that basically killed me!
Anyways, I am absolutely thrilled to meet another fan! How are you? lol

P.S. Please excuse my craziness. I'm really nervous about a deadline for tomorrow and so that usually makes me really hyper, as I am right now. Seriously! I can barely type! Haha. Anyways. I better go. Bye!

I wanted to kill myself for reading so fast.
When I was done, I was like (eww, I sound bimbotic),
*closes book*
O_O
*screams!!!*
"How could it end like that?!?! How dare she do that to me?!?!"
*runs around in circles*
"and why did I have to read so fast???"
*Oh emm gee oh emm gee oh emm gee*
*severe hyperventilation*

I've read the first chapter of "City Of Glass" ;)
There's a preview. Check it out :D

I love those books! My friend lent them to me, one by one of course but still. I defiantly have to buy them.

However, I was greatly disappointed by City of Glass. It was a good book but I was disappointed. Was I the only one?

I haven't yet read City of Glass, and it's been a while since I finished the first two, but I really thought they were good books. I'm extremely religious, and although the 'questionable' relationship (:P) might have bothered me a little bit, I found myself rooting for the two characters all the same.

And the thing that's makes the Mortal Instrument books and the Hunger Games both wonderful is that the romance, like you mentioned, is kept to a minimum, just like Harry Potter or The Book Thief or other equally amazing books. I think that's something that really appeals to me in a book-- some romance, some attraction, but not so much mushiness that it overwhelms the plot. ;)

I read all three of these books in quick succession. I actually got mad at my significant other for not buying me City of Glass for my birthday. I had to buy it for myself! The nerve!

I agree with Evi. I love the fact that the romance aspect of the story isn't pounded into your head. In the first book, I actually didn't realize that
Jace and Clary were attracted to each other until the late-night birthday picnic in Hodge's garden. Boy, that kiss gave me an adrenaline rush!
Maybe I'm just completely oblivious. Or maybe I was so into the well-thought-out plot that I just didn't notice.

I love these books so much. I bought City of Glass on the day it came out, and it didn't disappoint. :) I still think I liked the first too better though, if only because they took place in New York rather than Idris. Somehow, fighting demons in apartment buildings in Brooklyn is so much cooler than fighting demons in another world. :)

I heard somewhere that Cassandra Clare might write another book for Simon, since she said that his story isn't quite finished. What do you guys think about that?

I loved City of Bones and City of Ashes! I have yet to read City of Glass, but they really are amazing books. It was a entertaining funny, romantic and action-packed! If anyone hasn't read the series yet, I'd suggest doing so now.

Simon was a really sweet character. I have a soft spot for him. If she writes a story for him, I'd read it. Also, I can't wait till the prequels to The Mortal Instrument series comes out. It's called The Infernal Devices. This series takes place in Victorian England and I heard that this series is going to be a little bit more romantic.

These books ARE pretty awesome. I love the fact that you-know-who-and-who end up together. I was worried for a while there. Anyway, really excited for her next series! Gah!

I love those books! Jace is my favorite character ever. I would marry him in a heartbeat. :) Clary wasn't half bad either. I have those books where the hero and heroine fall in love and the next 300 pages are all about them making out. These books totally weren't like that at all. And Magnus was just amazing.

I loved The Mortal Instruments series! I remember my friend read 'City of Bones' back in June and was raving about this amazing book. I held off reading it for a while, a little nervous of the fantasy element, but eventually gave in. I was completely blown away.

Jace is just wonderful. I loved Magnus too, he was one of the best characters. I want an invite to one of his parties. :)

I haven't actually read these, but both my brother and my older sister have, and they both think they're amazing. I should probably get around to reading them sometime soon ... Maybe I'll ask for one for Christmas :P
