Do you like sci-fi? You could try reading something of Brian Falkner's ... But I doubt they're published in anywhere outside of New Zealand, so that won't be much help.
And I'd reccomend The Book Thief.
And Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke, if you haven't grown out of children's fantasy. Whilst we are on the topic of children's fantasy, maybe Deltora Quest as well, but I know some believe that they have grown out of it.
Sorry, I can't really give you any more suggestions. (Have you read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time? I wouldn't exactly reccomend it fiercely, but it is interesting ...)
