Well, I did already start writing the book... but changed the plot so many times I ended up scraping whatever I wrote before.

So I'm really starting over... I suppose.

Good luck everyone, and may the best words win! (heh)

I've never tried it before... but I want to at least once in my life!

Oh my. I want to participate SO bad. I succeeded back in 2011, but since then I have been too busy with school to even try entering the contest.

One reply and we're only two days away. Hmm.

I'm doing a comedy this year, I told myself I was done with profectionism. (And procrastination.) Hopefully I'll make 50k this year. (As opposed to the two past years.)

That is my goal. What's yours?

Here we are in 2014!

Two-ish months before it begins, am I the only one kept awake by my not-yet-written characters and scenes already?

Hmm... I am not sure if I will do NaNo this year or not. High School, other activities, and YWS keep me pretty busy... ;)

I'll try it.

It talks in tongues and quiet sighs,
And prayers and proclamations

I am considering participating, but I will see where I'm at with the book I'm already working on... But I have a question. What if you don't really have any ideas for a novel when November rolls around? Or you have bits and pieces but no where near enough stuff thought out to write a full novel? Do you have to outline the whole thing before going for it? Is that how people do it in a month? Or do some people just start writing and see what happens?

@LeftyWriter, there are no rules for doing NaNo, all that you have to do is write 50k words for a novel in a month. I thought of an idea for a novel on the night of Oct. 30th once and wrote it!

This NaNo I'm conducting an experiment! I'll be writing two shorter works - roughly 25K each to meet the goal - instead of one longer one. Not sure if that disqualifies me, but it doesn't really matter to me how official it is, it will just be fun to write and interact with other people working on their novels :3

There's always room for Nano rebels, so no worries, and from what I've seen a lot of people write their novel without an outline. I'm an outlining fanatic, personally, though I've only got four scenes planned out right now *Dies*
