So heres the deal. I post a picture of something random, anything at all (Be it a bucket, a pot, a red square, anything) And you try to make something fantasy/sci fi out of it. Its a great way, in my opinion, to practice the creation of artifacts, spells, races and the like.

For example:

Crysi posts this picture:
Image

Arvandor:
This is a soul prison used by the sea elves. Noone knows how many people are imprisoned in there, nor what crimes they have commited against the Blue Overlords. It is known however, that they are kept by nymphs and dryads, often seen or depicted by holding one, with crystal clear water pouring out of it.

Then I post a picture and the next person writes something. Get it? Let the game begin!

the desert of insanity - those who cross it go insane, not through heat but through the magic in the sands that burrows into the mind and invades all sane thoughts.

Once a year the light of dawn breaks before the moon has gone - and the two lights mingle like a jewel on the horizon. They call it the Tear, the sorrow of the Moon Goddess at her separation from the Sun.

When the sun forms a perfect dragon's eye with the sea, it is time for the Raids. All in the Kingdom stay inside, fearful of the dark shadows looming outside their doors. For the Raiders do not simply steal jewels; they steal souls.

(By the way - great idea for an activity, Arvy! I'm honored that you used me in the example. And I must say, I love your signature. ;) )

Beware the flatland's brambled sceptres. The waving stalks, spined, draw blood and leave their poison.

This is the Chalice of Mileyah

A ceremonial chalice used by the small human/elven kingdom of Oroh. When one joins the Order of the Golden Oak, this chalice is filled with wine made from the defiled grapes in the blasted wastelands in the north. If the initiate drinks it, and does not fall to illness, he/she will prove worthy of the title Oroh Purifier.

An Oroh Dragonfly waiting for its rider.
The "steeds" of the Oroh Battledruids and Mages are one of the biggest and most elusive creatures in the Jade Canyon, with a wing size of over 20 meters in length. Each year on the 21st of Argus, the summer solistce (sp) the migration of the Oroh Dragonfly begins, a spectacular sight, when all of the druid circles in the surrounding kingdoms of Oroh start the Feral Oratory, a ceremony that involves hunting (some of them, to prevent them facing extinction) Oroh Dragonflies, a rite of womanhood, celebrated by the matryachial tribes surrounding Oroh.

A shimmering bubble formed out of the waters surface to make the Orb of Lindin. Inside is a tear-drop crystal that grants wishes but it can also be used to purify sinners.

In Caer Calen, the mages are philosophers, careless in their enumeration of dark and light, evil and well. Always in balance they say - beyond whatever some choose to do - dark from light, night to dawn. But there are those who left the marble towers on Calen's shore. Shadows, they do not speak but show that duality is only for those who leave it so. Their mark, once they blast their Tower's vows, is spindling skull across the shoulder.

The detestable star-eater. It is an horrendously proud and enormous dragon, that glows with the countless stars imprisoned in its greedy belly. There is no limit to its speed and girth, as the fiery stars form its sustenance. It grows continually bigger, swifter and stronger, devouring the night sky- constellation by constellation.

Its horrors have been sufficient to unite all the nations of Matormear: a continent prone to constant warring, but now focused only on stopping the loathed star- eater.

The Vostok Forest borders the line between the mage's eastern sea and M'yesk, hollow land. It's well known for ambushes, highwaymen and the odd creatures that creep in and around the angles of this world - from the next.

The monks of the Bleeding Sun have built their temples on Ao thousands of years ago. Always contemplating, always thinking, they are puruers of knowledge and power, of reason, uncorrupted by the mortal emotions and senses. They have sworn an oath of silence, towards all that are not members of their order. Amongst themselves however, they always exchange plans, intrigues and legends of powers gained and lost.
