It costs 200 points to post a poem on YWS, but a lot of times, you may not really be interested in reviews of the piece. Or maybe you just don't feel like spending 200 points on a poem that you feel is sub-par.

Whatever the case may be, use this thread to post your poems for free whether they be absolute trash or the cream of the crop. However, no reviews! This thread is solely for posting poetry.

Hecks yeah! This thread was MADE for me!

Here's a poem that I did in 2002. IT'S AWESOME. According to the time date thing, I wrote it when I was 13. I don't even think I finished it. I got bored of writing it.

Everywhere I look,
There’s unforgotten dreams,
That were never accomplished
Nor even started of all things

Every excuse I have heard,
“I am way too old,”
“I am not at all talented,”
“I am shy, not bold.”

My mind races and I wonder
Why these people
Gave up everything
So they could never chase their dream

For why give up the world
And everything in between
If your not even going to
Look for that dream?

I have heard people
Remembering their past.
They sigh and keep on saying,
“If only I did this; if only this would last.”

They give me words of caution,
They say it’s way too hard
They say a kid of my age,
Would never go too far.

I try to understand their words,
But I cannot prevail,
Are they telling me to go for it?
Or saying I will fail?

Lost people with lost dreams,
Shall I become like them?
Or will I manage to do well
And in the end win?

I don’t know the future,
But watching

...watching what? OHNOES.
Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.

"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly." ~ Richard Bach

Forgive my myopia, but
I thought you a man with your
sunglasses beard and
lolloping stride when we
passed in the hall.
Secretly a Kyllorac, sometimes a Murtle.

What makes you run from me?
You’re trembling, sweating, pleading,
Stand up straight and blink at me,
Deer eyes caught in a flash of light.
You’re frozen, you’re run-down,
Give me an excuse to ask.
One word, one breath, fold it into me,
I can be your punching bag.

~Here are a few poems I wrote when I was super little. I thought I could make you laugh.~

Grandma
Knits
Everywhere
All day long
Because she loves it.

My Dog

Hash, bash, clash
He can give you an awful rash
If you can't dash away
you won't be seeing another day

Exotic Pets

If you want chickens
That enjoy reading Dickens
You're going to have pretty slip pickings

If you're searching for a goat
That is allowed to vote
And can sing any musical note
You will end up somewhere remote

If you want a cow
That barks bow-wow
And also knows how to pull a plow
Well, let's just say you can't buy those now.

If you want a cat named Matt
That you can easily get
But, who would want a normal pet?

Claws

My cat's claws
renforce laws
like never touch my tail
or paws

Playing Catch

Ball sailing through the air
Woosh
I wist and curve to catch
Smack
My hands tingle with the force
Take a deep breath
Hhhh
Then throw
Woosh
Smack
Again
And
Again
Woosh, Smack, Hhhhh.

Here is my poem called La la la:

LALALALALA
SING A SONG
LALALALA
ALL DAY LONG
LALALALALALALALALALALALALALA
SING SONG LAAAAAAA
I am nothing
but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted
apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's
or maybe like pocket candy
that's just a bit too sweet.

Yes! Poems! Can we post song lyrics on here too? If we can, I'm posting again. Anyway, enjoy my really lame poems.
Mirror
I look in the mirror,
And see myself,
I take a closer look,
At the person who I used to be,
I look at the darkness,
Clouding my eyes,
Turning gold into amber,
I watch as the last flicker,
Of light dies out,
Taking my soul with it,
I look in the mirror,
And see myself,
I look beyond the reflection,
To find the person who I used to be,
I look in the mirror,
And find myself.

Journey

Walking down the road,
Beginning our journey,
Searching for a way,
To make things right,

Standing at the crossroads,
Looking at the paths,
Seeing the options,
Seeing the price,

Standing at the end,
Of the dusty road,
Looking at the place,
We call home,

Our journey’s finally over,
We’ve succeeded,
We found a way,
To make things right,
Now we’re finally,
Returning home.
Check these out please! :)

Two wandering souls
Similar but seperate
Without marching band

It's a haiku I wrote about me and my friend, and how tragic our lives would be if we had never met. It's legit. I wrote this two weeks ago.

Yeah, it's horrible :D But it's meaninful, in some quirky sort of way.
We've stayed until the very end.
This is real for us.

This one's dedicated to Calligraphy. =3

Idiot;
that is what you are.
Don't deny it.
Don't pretend
that you are anything more than
an idiot.

Silly Fashion

To all a balance
No two things exist that share
Time is quite fickle.

The title refers to the initial topic that a series of tangents led to what you get here. ;)
In the interest of actually getting somewhere and accomplishing something, I'll be 'wrong' and you can be 'right'.

This definately isn't bad, but certainly not worth 100 points.

Tell me, who's the one you love?
Tell me now before I go to war
Just let me know for sure
Just tell me

Is my love enough?
Is my love enough for you
Or will you pick and choose?
Tell me

We only have so long before the time will come
So you just kiss me now and forget about what we'll become

Tell me, what you want me to do
Do you want me to go right now
And leave you here to drown?
Tell me

We are two in a few
Give me a quick kiss goodbye
And then I'll go and die
Tell me
Need reviews?
I'd be happy to give them.

I have huuuundreds of these. But, most of them aren't fit to be seen by other human eyes. No, they are sad little scraps of verses, lonely somewhere in the midst of a big ol' Google Docs page. Here are a couple though, that I wrote today.

as one dark day followed the next,
I sighed long winded, rasping
with my cigarette-smoke voice:
I used to sing such sweet songs.

roses were for romantics,
but we were the absurd:
we stuffed the petals
in our mouths, and the bitter taste of sweeter smells
made us grin.

I honestly can't be bothered to post this officially. Nonetheless, I do like it.

EDIT. Had to delete the poem, sorry.

"I can't get it off."
"Here, use a scrubby."
"You don't understand. My skin is raw. I'm still covered in it. I can't scrub anymore, I'll bleed."
"Well take a break then. Won't kill you to have it on you for another hour."
"I can't. It burns. I smell like death, and it's slimy. I feel polluted."
"Well I'm sorry then: the city sticks with you for a while."

Regarding the Nudist

Timmy was a nudist,
In a colony he did live.
It was filled with swine and geese
And had cows and turkeys too,
So many that he had to have
12 arms to see things through.

Two were for the geese
And two again for the swine;
Two each for the turkeys and cows,
He'd learned to manage them fine.

Now many may be thinking
"What are the others for,
And why would he run a farm?
It sounds pretty weird to me."
Read across the next few stanzas
If it is answers you wish to see.

One was for his child,
A girl of only 3.
She made Timmy cry and laugh;
From her diapers he would never flee.

Another was for his wife -
Her name was Julianne.
With her he never argued,
In her he had a fan.

The last two were special;
For them he took great care.
They were the first two he was born with
And were used for a Bible and prayer.

The last two he had been given
And special gifts they were.
The others felt different,
Like he was petting another's dog.
God had given him those arms,
They weren't just an added cog.

So I'm sure that you're now thinking:
"What's the point of all of this?
Why learn about a freaky nudist
Who could do a ton of stuff?"
Well try to train your mind on this:
(It may be kind of tough.)

The nudist had some livestock,
To each he supplied arms of two.
Those animals were his livelihood
And he kept his family afloat;
They received two as well,
He kept them stable as a stoat.

The last two he reserved for God,
No more than he gave his herds.
He leveled Him with family and work,
Those who do this aren't a few;
So if you'll just remember one thing:
Nudists are human too.

Delightful Delicacy

Crumcakes and muffins,
What are the use of these?
When deprived of The Condiment?
I refer to cream cheese.

No matter what flavor,
Except weird ones like trout,
It'll definitely be tasty.
Go on, try it out.

Frustration

R
Is equal to
Roll()
print "You have ", R, "points."
Syntax Error;
Frustration.

Death of the Llamas

Llamas,
Dancing through a meadow.
Then a light;
A light on a hill far away.
More lights -
Explosions!
BOOM! BOOM!
Suddenly,
It is gone.
Everything is gone;
Nuclear Holocaust.
"I can't afford a teddy bear, so I sleep with this contact solution."

Taran: He will not succeed in this. Somehow, we must find a way to escape. We dare not lose hope.

Fflewddur: I agree absolutely, your general idea is excellent; it's only the details that are lacking.
