Yeah, the title will probably not make any sense. Allow me to explain. Most of you must have a song he/she listens 'cause of a paticular part of it. Like, a certain sentence the singer/songtress sings.

Let the fellow members of the forum know about your discoveries! And maybe from what song.

I'll start it off.

And I've traced your shadows on the wall and now I kiss them.

From the Fall Out Boy song titled G.I.N.A.S.F.S.

A simply beautiful sentence, I think personally. It really speaks of the desire one can feel to someone who's out of reach. At least, that's what I make out of it.

What are your discoveries? Post them here!

"Do you dream that the world will know your name? Tell me your name." [i]Angels on the Moon[/] by Thriving Ivory. Great song. It's kind of my novel's theme. :)
“We’re still here,” he says, his voice cold, his hands shaking. “We know how to be invisible, how to play dead. But at the end of the day, we are still here.” ~Dax

Teacher: "What do we do with adjectives in Spanish?"

Pick a line, any line, from Bohemian Rhapsody. That song is so powerful on every level. One of the best ever written, and definitely gets my "epic" juices going.

Also, this stanza from "All Along the Watchtower":

"Businessmen they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know what any of it is worth"

Sends shivers up my spine, without fail. I think it speaks to anyone who's gone through myriad hardships, but still manages to maintain their sense of dignity and self-worth.
Ah, it is an empty movement. That is an empty movement. It is.

"This land is mine but I let you rule, I let you navigate and demand, just as long as we know this land is mine." - Dido: This Land is Mine.

I love the sense of giving your heart away - whilst still reserving it XD What I've just said probably doesn't make any sense.

Here's a passage from the song The Drowning by The Haunted. The singing and the guitars do quite well to accent the amazingness of this part.

"As I close my eyes I can see it now
In a sepia twilight sundown
to the sound of electrical eyes
The obedient sons and the daughters all
perfectly in line
All hail
and raise hands
in impeccable synchronicity"
"Is", "is." "is" — the idiocy of the word haunts me. If it were abolished, human thought might begin to make sense. I don't know what anything "is"; I only know how it seems to me at this moment. -Robert Anton Wilson

"In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
till he cried out in his anger and his shame
'I am leaving, I am leaving,' but the fighter still remains."

~"The Boxer" Simon & Garfunkel

"I want you to know it's a little messed up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', no longer debatin',
Tired of sittin' and hatin' and makin' these excuses,
For why you're not around, and feeling so useless,
It seems one thing has been true all along,
You don't really know what you've got 'til it's gone,
I guess I've had it with you and your career,
When you come back I won't be here and you can sing it."

~"Where'd You Go?" Fort Minor

Yes, I know, my music choice is a little strange. But it keeps me happy. :)

Hi! I'm going to share three parts from three different songs. I hope it's okay, but they always inspire me. (For some reason, they strike me as sweet in a dark way)

So Cold by Breaking Benjamin

You're so cold, but you feel alive
Lay your hand on me one last time
Show me how defenseless you really are
satisfied and empty inside
Well, that's alright, let's give this another try

Prelude 12/21 by AFI

This is what I brought you, this you can keep.
This is what I brought, you may forget me.
I promise you my heart just promise to sing.
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.

Body Crumbles by Dry Cell (I like the QotD version LOTS better than the first one)

Is it okay to be myself
I don't know if I'll be alright
I don't know if I'll be alright
Why do we always have to fight
I don't know if I'll be alright
I don't know if I'll be alright
Now I know it's alright

I just like them for some reason. Listening to all three songs repeatedly never fails to give me inspiration for a dark story, even if it would just be a oneshot instead of a novel. But oneshots are better than writer's block, no? xP
"The moral of this story, is that if I cause a stranger to choke to death for my amusement, what do you think I’ll do to you if you don’t tell me who ordered you to kill Colosimo?“

-Boardwalk Empire

Love, get out of my way.

Dulcinea: 2,500/50,000

Don't stop believing! :D

And...the signature...
"...Your breath fills up my lungs
now I'm free, now I'm free
Sin has lost its power
Death has lost its sting
From the Grave You've risen
Victoriously!
Into marvelous light I'm running
out of darkness
out of shame
by the cross You are the truth
You are the light You are the way

Pretty much that whole song...Marvelous Light by (I don't know!)
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.

"For the first time in a long time I can say, that I'm gonna try
I feel helpless for the most part but I'm learning to open my eyes
And the sad truth of the matter is, I'll never get over it
But I'm gonna try
To get better and overcome each moment in my own way."

From Even if it Kills Me by Motion City Soundtrack.
the song itself is about getting over drugs, but I think that that end chorus, as well as a lot of the other lines, are symbolic on dozens of different levels too.
Hell, the band's just awesome in general
But enough about me, what do YOU think about me?

'I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing' from Breakeven by The Script pretty much sums up those days that you feel helpless and it's right at the beginning of the song, making the song completely addictive. I love it.

"This is 10 percent luck, 20 percent skill, 15 percent concentrated power of will. 5 percent pleasure, 50 percent pain."

From Remember The Name by Fort Minor. I CANNOT write anything until I've heard that song. It keeps me pushing on through that darned novel.

"One smile that cheers you,
One face that lights when it nears you.
...
Love is the answer,
Someone to love is the answer.
Once you've found her,
Build your world around her."

-Make Someone Happy by Jimmy Durante

Yes, it's from Sleepless in Seattle. The music swells at these parts and the words are so pure & lovely. I feel like I might explode with joy when I hear this.
"He found his voice tended either to disappear or to come out too loud." -William Golding

And down the waterfall,
Wherever it may take me,
I know that life won't break me.
When I come to call, she won't forsake me;
I'm loving angels instead.

-Angels, Robbie Williams
It's very simple, but if it could be true, it's very powerful.
