DungeonMaster says...

Oh hello, dear roleplayers, pirates, privateers, and everything in between!

2021 was a year. I think we can all say that, right? It was, technically, a year. Well, technicalities aside, 2021 was actually a big year for Roleplays!

We shall start off with actually an event from 2020. Because, what is time anyway? The latter half of 2020 saw its first large Roleplay event in a long time in the form of the Last Ship Sailing, a collaborative elimination contest in the same vein as the Last Man Standing. A total of five teams started the competition and three teams went onto the tenth week, where they faced off in the ultimate writing test, LSS Tsunami. In the end, The Beach became the Last Ship Sailing Round One victor.

But that finale was only the beginning of a great year!

With the Tsunami finally dissipating, the state of the Storybook forum was left in precarious waters. After all, what were Storybooks? What am I? What are you? Well, at least one of those existential questions were solved when the Roleplay Crew announced the Roleplay Revamp on February 3rd. This Revamp would see a change to the name of the entire forum (although that would not be finalized until a certain wacky roleplay awoke a dragon from his slumber), an entire new Roleplay type, new forums for the community, and a bunch more changes under the hood.

The Roleplay forum and community had found themselves a new name and a new home (and a new pet phoenix?). But it would be a couple more months before they finally had time to settle into that new home. But, this wasn't time that was spent dilly-dallying, oh no! You see, the Roleplay Crew, excited over the successful launch of the revamp (and a little frazzled from way too much caffeine) started work on the next big project: Roleplay Month.

But, they needed help! After all, the Roleplay Crew had just moved headquarters and there was a lot of empty rooms and floors that needed sweeping. So, with the help of a few new friends, the Roleplay Crew got to work.

During Roleplay Month, we looked for Nate the Dragon, we challenged ourselves, welcomed newbies into the fold, and we celebrated everything Roleplays.

In the end, we found ourselves in a new land and under a new name. It's taken some time to settle into all the huge changes and events that 2021 offered, but I think we have all found a nice new corner to call ours in the wonderful world of roleplays.

2021 was a wild ride for roleplays and roleplayers alike. Some waves were rockier than others, but we wouldn't have changed it at all.
