Plot:
You are in the King’s court, one of the Royal Set’s. War is about to break out again soon between the White Crown and the Black Crown, the Final Showdown, as the King favors to call it, because the winner of this war will become ruler of the whole board – that is to say, the world. You’re job as part of the set is to help your King win the war at all costs.

It starts with the King announcing that the Final Showdown has been started, but the majority of the Storybook will take place on the battle field. We are all on the same side of the board, the Black Crown’s set (this is mostly because the knights will then be Black Knights and I couldn’t pass up a Batman reference that was so easy).

I am allowing two characters per person if it’s wanted because it is almost guaranteed that your character will die. Not everyone will live. So having two characters keeps you in the storybook when one of your other characters has to die. The only requirement for having two characters is that one of them is a pawn. If these spots fill up quick – which I’m hoping they are – and people still want to join I will open up the White Crown side for play.

If we put both sides in play then there will have to be a contest of some sort to see which side will win. Either that or I flip a coin or something. Unless one side wants to lose, then that problem is easily solved.

Also, if everybody takes two characters that means only eight people will be on each team. I’m actually encouraging you all to take two characters.



King:

Does not fight at all, the only exception being in life threating situations, and even then the King can only wield one dagger at a time and can only kill in close range. This means stabbing only, no throwing daggers and no stabbing with more than one dagger at a time. The King is virtually defenseless and is only to give orders.
Everyone listens to the King’s orders, no matter how much you don’t want to.

Queen:

Basically has free reign over everything. The Queen can wield and master any weapon she lays her hand on. She takes orders from the King only, everyone else follows her command unless it contradicts orders the King has already issued. May sometimes carelessly jump into battle simply because she can.

Knights:

Third in command. Knights wield a sword and shield. Knights are superior to the Rooks, Bishops, and Pawns. They can give orders if the Queen and King are not around and if the Queen dies they become second in command. A Knight’s main companion is their horse which is with them at all times. Knights have a special connection with their horses, if a Knight’s horse is injured the Knight will also feel pain as if they’ve been injured. If a Knight’s horse if fatigued the Knight too will feel famished.

Rooks and Bishops:

Both the Rooks and the Bishops are fourth in command, a sort of joint team. They both excel at far ranged combat, are able to move fast and swiftly and make a hasty retreat if needed, but close combat leaves them both stumped. Both wield a bow and arrow.

The only major difference between the two are that Rooks can’t be far away from the King for too long, they are required to stick close by the King should he need any immediate help and are also required to throw their selves in the line of fire to save the King, even if it means sacrificing their selves.

Bishops are the healers of the war, they are required by their job description to put their needs aside and heal wounded soldiers in need of help to their best abilities. If a Bishop is fatally wounded and there is another piece around who is also wounded the Bishop must attend to that other piece first before working on himself, even if the damage done to the other piece is not dire and even if the Bishop doesn’t want to help.

Pawns:

Last in command. Pawns wield swords but no shield. They are loyal and brave, and are in the front line. Pawns, though often looked down upon and used more often as sacrifices than the other pieces, are very strong. Their specialty is close combat which is why they die off faster, with Pawns every battle is one to the death, there is no retreating. And battle between two Pawns has to be one on one.

Pawns, though, are the only ones that can be promoted to any rank they wish – Prince, Princess, Knight, Rook, or Bishop. Princes and Princesses have the same power as the Queen.

Name: Armaita "Mai" Lee

Age (19+): 24

Gender: Female

Position: Bishop

Appearance (Description and Picture): Armaita is very slim and short, only 5"5. She has brilliant hazel eyes that constantly seem distant, far away. The design on her face is a tattoo, she has that same design on her side.

Personality: Mai is quiet and timid when not fighting but once the battle starts she's fierce and determined. She doesn't talk much or very loudly, when Mai raises her voice you know it's serious. The only time she yells is when she's shouting orders. She doesn't mind having to heal everybody, she puts everyone else's life before her own anyway, that's just the way she is. Armaita is an extremely sweet girl, to the people on her team at lease, and fierce in battle, but too quick to trust and love. She wears her heart on her sleeve and her feelings are written across her forehead in bold. She holds nothing in.

She likes to read, it's one of the few things she finds true joy in.

History: Armaita was born into a long line of Bishops. It was no negotiable that Armaita was going to be a Bishop, that was decided for her since before she was first conceived. She's been training since she was young for battle as a Bishop, she trained mostly in medicine and is an expert at healing. Armaita can heal nearly any wound. Mai has no complaints about being one of the Black Crown's set. She loves the King very much and loves all of the set with all her heart and would readily die for them.

Name: Laytin "Leigh" Derrington

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Position: Pawn

Appearance: Leigh was born with long dark, curly hair, and dark eyes to match. She has a very healthy pale shade, and a bright smile. Leigh is a tall girl with slim legs. She appears skinny, but she's pretty strong all on her own. She has a very I'm not afraid sort of aura, and she always holds her head up high.



Personality: Leigh is a brave and loyal girl, though she tends to be very manipulative. She often gets herself into trouble, but all she does is turn the other cheek, and walk away. She seems to be sweet and kind, but she really isn't. She tries to be, but she can't help but be devilishly manipulative. When in battle, Leigh tends to stay quiet while fighting, unless she has to shout at someone, whether for help, or orders. Though, overall, people tend to like Leigh.

Name: Nicole "Nikki" Meadowsweet
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Position: Queen
Appearance: Her eyes are colbalt blue, which turn black when she's angry. She stands a good and steady six feet, towering all but her husband.
Personality: Nikki's very calm when outside battle, but when it's time for battle, forget her calmness. When battle gets boiling, she's very hot-headed as an angry dragon. Half the time when she's in battle, she's talking with the women on her side of the playing field. Other half of the time, she's beside her husband and guarding him jealously.
History: Believe it or not, she's the daughter of a pawn and a knight. She served the king as a pawn since she was twelve, then was promoted as a knight as seventeen. Her long service to the king must've appealed to him very greatly, because she wound up getting married to him after her twenty-fourth birthday. Because she knows how to use any weapon she can get her hands on, she's a force nobody should reckon with if the opponent knows what's good for him/her.
Other: She has a pendant around her neck as a constant reminder of her father, who was from a very long line of knights. Her father died in battle for the defence of the late king and this pendant was all that was left of him for his family to keep in his memory.

Gleek, Pawns have to promoted into a Prince or Princess. They start off as Pawns.

Name: Cassius Brawn

Age (19+): 34

Gender: Male

Position: King

Appearance (Description and Picture): Cassius' eyes are hay brown with a rim of forest green around the edge. He's very tall, standing at 6"5, and lean. He has a very dark and looming presence and walks with an aura of authority and pride. You can tell he's the King just by looking at him.

Personality: Cassius is very serious and focused, as a proper King should be. His face is usually stoic, he never betrays his emotions. If you catch Cassius is an extremely good mood you might see him smile or crack a few jokes but the only ones that Cassius is actually comfortable around to the point where he reveals his true emotions are his wife and a few pieces of the set whom he trusts.

He keeps a level cool head, even when in battle. Even if the other team gets a check Cassius doesn't let it faze him. He has the greatest trust in his set that they won't fail him.

History: Cassius became King at an extremely young age, ten years old. His mother died giving birth and his father was Checkmated in battle. Ever since he could walk Cassius has been in training to be a King. Even though his only weapon is a dagger he wields it expertly. He knows how to get his way and is a fair King, choosing not to overwork or ridicule his subjects so that they would be happy to be under his rule. But because Cassius was crowned at such a young age he's lost most of his childhood and does not even know how to express some of the emotions he feels.

Other: In his past time Cassius likes to go walking, he loves nature.

Name: Sai Chaola

Age (19+): 24

Gender: Male

Position: Rook

Appearance (Description and Picture): He's tall, 5"11, and slim, but not lean. He doesn't have much muscle and he has long arms and legs. His fingers are also long. His long limbs makes him look clumsy but he moves with speed and grace. His quick and nimble on his feet. His flexibility and speed makes up for the lack of muscle mass.

Personality: Sai is a pretty normal guy. He doesn't get angry over too many things but, at the same time, not a lot of things makes him happy. He's laid back and easy going but always on watch and never too far away from his King. When it comes to Sai's priorities it's the King and then everything else behind that. He likes to be in a calm environment, preferring to sit around a camp fire and chat lightly or lay back in a meadow and just rest, but since he is a soldier Sai is always alert.

History: Sai started off as a small boy working as a maid in the King's castle. He was very poor, his mom and dad both dead due to illnesses, and he didn't have any money and working in the castle offered food and a place to sleep so once he was of age he took the job immediately. One day Sai wandered on the Rooks and Bishops practicing and one of the arrows being shot off caught him in the shoulder. The Rook that fired the arrow quickly came to help Sai and nursed him back to health in his living quarters. The Rook that helped Sai, Brane, quickly became a father figure and soon taught him about love of the King and how to be a good Rook. When Brane died in battle Sai swore to live up to his image which is why Sai is a dedicated Rook.

Other: Sai wears around his neck a pendant that once belonged to Brane. Sai still sheds tears every night over Brane's death and hates the White Crown's kingdom with every fiber of his being.

Name: Arie (Ah-Ree) Tan

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Position: Pawn

Apperance: Arie has wide sterling grey eyes with emerald green specks in them. She's short, 5"4, and does not move very quickly. She has a sort of airy walk, as if he feet barely touch the ground, and her arms kind of hang beside her.

Personality: Arie carries herself as if shes always in a dream. She has a far away look in her eyes and always seems to be looking into the distance. She has a soft airy voice and doesn't really talk much. If you want to talk with Arie you'd have to snap her out of the spell she easily and quickly submits herself to.

History: Arie can't remember any of her childhood. She got in an accident that erased her memories and the last thing she remembers is that she was walking up the steps to the castle, asking for the King and Queen. Since she didn't know who she was, other than her name was Arie Tan, she decided that working for the King would be her best bet.

Other: Arie likes to sing, she has a beautiful voice.

Name: Hector Nightshade
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Position: Knight
Appearance: He stands a good five-foot-seven-inches. His eyes look like cat's eyes, but that only happens if you look into them long enough.
Personality: He's quiet, a little too quiet when outside battle. When he's in battle, he's charges head-on without warning. You might think he's got nothing on his mind, but he's very smart and sly underneath the quiet exterior. While wearing his armor and the beaver of his helmet is down, he has the facial expression of thinking and gives his opponent no mercy in the name of his King. Without the armor to hide his facial expressions, he wears a straight face like a mask.
History: Hector's from a very, very long line of knights and is one of the current Queen's childhood friends. He and Nikki served the current king as knights until Nikki was wed, but Hector kept his knighthood because it was in his blood to be a knight. He was trained a knight since he was seven and gained his knighthood after his seventeenth birthday. To this day, he hasn't backed down on serving his proud monarchs.
Other: He has a mare named Night Rider, who is his pride and joy more than battle. To him, Night Rider's his most valuable treasure that he would protect with his life as well would he to the King and Queen.

Okay, here's my pawn.

Name: Quain (Pronounced with a long A) "Qua" Buro

Age (19+): 26

Gender: Male

Position: Pawn

Appearance (Description and Picture):

Personality: Quain is cocky and sarcastic. He's strong so he thinks that by being strong he can do anything. He looks down on those weaker than him even if he is only a pawn. He's conceited and thinks that he's better than everyone, even the King at times. He feels like he can do everybody's job better than they can and is just waiting to get promoted so he can be, not a Prince, but a Knight.

History: Quain is not originally from the Black Crown's kingdom. He was born in the outskirts of both the Black Crown and White Crown kingdom, no man's land. His father raised him in the Dead Woods by himself and drilled in Quain at a young age that Quain had to be tough. Living in the woods Quain had to be taught to fight for himself with everything that he had. Quain lost his left eye fighting another animal for food. When Quain was sixteen his father died of illness, Quain didn't know what else to do but to work harder so that he knew his dad would be proud of him if he was still here.

He traveled to the Black Crown's kingdom to work and once he had a steady job and was making money he want to the Castle to request a place on the King's set. He was accepted but his bad temper and hard words have kept him from getting a promotion. Qua is very strong but unless he can change his attitude he will forever stay a pawn.

Other: All he does is practice in his free time.

This is the one you told me about, right? Darn, Queen and King both taken... Guess I'll have a Knight and a pawn.

Name: Machidiel "Machi, Chi" Maion

Age (19+): 23

Gender: Female

Position: Knight

Appearance (Description and Picture): She's slim and curvy, well built with a nice layer of lean muscles. Machi is 5"6 1/2 and has long powerful legs. She also has a tattoo of a purple flower in the hollow of her neck.

Personality: Machi is a real spit fire. She takes crap from no one and if you don't follow her commands be prepared to deal with her sword. She can be gentle at times, but only with the people that she trusts - mostly the King and her fellow Knight. She has a "not-to-be-messed-with" aura and will be glad to kick you into shape if you're slacking off. Like most of the set, Machi is forever loyal to King Cassius.

History: She was born inside the Royal castle, her mother was a maid that had an affair with of the King's pieces and got pregnant. Because her mother and her father weren't married and her being conceived was a result of a one night stand she was supposed to be exiled and seen as an dishonor but Machi's mother begged the King to please take her child in as it would not be healthy for the baby to have to travel across lands since Machi's mother would have to be exiled along with her father. The King took Machi in and gave her to a family of peasant's who wanted a child.
Once Machi grew older her foster parents told her of the way she got to live with them and that day Machi decided to train to serve the King to both try to apologize for her mother and her father's sin and prove that she is more than an accidental child. She started off as a pawn and worked her way up to Knight.

Other: Her horse's name is Ezekiel.

Name: Ram Velasquez

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Position: Pawn

Apperance: Ram's eyes are an icy blue and have a thin hazy film around them, making them seem almost clouded. He's 5"10 and lean though not very fast or elegant. He's clumsy and trips over his own feet sometimes.

Personality: Ram is shy and kind. He's a good kid with a big heart and determination but he's also scared and very new. Ram, though he's been in training, has never been in an actually war. He decided to train because he loves his kingdom and he loves the King but that doesn't cover the fact that he's very young and inexperienced. The only reason he's fighting is because he begged the King to give him a chance. He wants to be a man once and for all, he's just having a hard time getting there.

History: Ram was born into a family of set pieces so the presser to become a part of the set was on ever since he was little. It's not that Ram doesn't love the King or doesn't want to fight it's just that being a part of the set is not first on his things to do. Ram wants to be an artist. Even with this other dream Ram trained long and hard to be the best piece that he could be and, when the King first told Ram that he didn't think it would be good if Ram was on the set, Ram begged and pleaded for a chance to fight. Ram wants to prove himself to not only the King but his family also. He wants to show them he's more that a silly artist, he's a fighter too.
