The Pianist's Daughter

When words fail, music speaks.

Nathaniel Afters has suffered a terrible loss. Presteigne's own treasure, Cecilia, has vanished into thin air. The girl, (his own daughter, she was) left no trace, nor any sign the night before that she was in distress. Her usual mirthful aura hadn't faltered throughout supper nor the evening.
Yet the next morning she was nowhere to be found.
Her disappearance sent a ripple of disquieted concern throughout Presteigne. Those who were sent to look found nothing, and did not return. Mothers and fathers feared for their own children, who they were sure would be targeted. Yet, even though no more children were taken by the night, an active sense of angst filled every corner of the town.
Little did its people know that there were indeed answers to this mystery; hidden within Cecilia's passion.
The piano.
It had been her father's love, and she had carried it. The girl could play more beautifully than most, more soulfully than any. Inside the notes she studied so carefully, so masterfully--were clues, leading up to the night she vanished.

Now we, the "ratty juveniles" of Presteigne, (the ones with no potential, no talent, and barely any worth at all, as most of our peers like to say) Ariel, Rylan, Sofía, and Christopher. A missing girl--not our problem. Well, it wouldn't be if we hadn't been left the letters.
Each of us had been left letters, unsigned, on our bedside tables the evening of her disappearance. They each contained information valuable to uncovering the mystery.
Every letter came with instructions not to tell anyone except each other what we discovered.
So now, this mystery is ours to decipher. Alone.
