History

it is cunning-
it is brave-
it is brutal-
it is restless-
and it is hunting us.

Several Years Ago

In the town of Haven, there are about five hundred people living in clean, white picket fence houses with a minivan in the driveway. Each family has a star pupil, a wannabe pop star (who sings in the shower in a deafening tone), the football player that all the girls with "literally" die for, and the quiet child that sits in the back of the class, watching and waiting. Their lives are normal with the dad going to work at a big firm and the mom stays home while the kids go to school.

Until, one day.

Letters come in pairs for the family. Inside are clues to the past or future; ink and tear dropped writing on coffee dipped paper; a broken pocket watch; and a small doll, whose left eye is missing. Each of the things that are inside the letters the family has and represents them in the past/future. These are warnings that go undetected.
Life is normal once again and everyone is happy.

A little boy, by the name of Ethan Jones, is the first to be found missing. The things that were left were his red bike, a teddy bear with a tie, and a note that reads: death feels a flicker of fear.

Over the next week, more children go missing. The parents of the children refer back to the letters they receive, reducing them to ash on the kitchen floor. The toys and trinkets inside the letters are thrown away or given to charity. Some speculate they are "cursed" while others fear the meanings they hold will come true.

One by one, the families move out-with or without their children-to other towns. The remaining that are in Haven try to find clues as to what has happened.

Story

Now

A man by the name of R. J. Hemlock, rides into Haven with a golden carriage and hopes of being the new mayor. He promised a money, new shopping centers, and rebuilding of broken buildings in town. With stunning green eyes and black hair, he wins the hearts (and the votes) of Haven.
It wasn't until two weeks into his term that his assistant, Marie Joyce Pennerson, was missing. News reports sprang all over the country in hopes of finding the new mayor's assistant.

Many people, who had long forgotten the event several years ago and quickly regraded the whole idea as a "fraud", brought back the idea of it. R. J. Hemlock tries to get the town to think about other pressing matters.
But of course, this is where you come in.

You, whoever might be, are trying to figure out what is happening. With clues from the past coming up in broad daylight, a power hungry mayor who has a secret past, and future letters that break the search, anything is possible.

Now, for some final advice straight from the old lady down the street:

Be careful.
You are like a blacksmith's hammer, you always forge people's happiness until the coal heating up the forge turns to ash. Then you just refuel it and start over. -Persistence (2015)

You have so much potential and love bursting in you. -Omnom
