ThePatchworkPilgrims says...

It is with a heavy heart that we have called each of you to this emergency council. We realise that many of you had to travel through several systems to arrive here from your home planets, or to return from your missions, but this is a matter of possible galactic implications.
Two weeks ago, an Oklarrian Frontier Outpost intercepted a communication line of the Enderian Collective. It seems to have been a science ship sent to survey possible high mineral or energy source planets. The ship stayed within the Frontier Outpost’s sensor range until it disappeared on the 8th, which was last week.
Now, what you are about to be shown is highly confidential, and may have catastrophic impacts on the populace if it were to be leaked. This is the last three transmissions by the Science Ship, named the END Forager.
Spoiler! :
Day 147
29-11-2231
Hyperdrive: Functional. Shield Systems: Operational. Hull: Minor damage on starboard flank. Supplies: Sufficient.
Collision with aged space debris in Gibaris IIIa magnetic field. Repairs not critical. Received unknown transmission from Abaddon Black Hole. Request permission to investigate.
Day 154
06-12-2231
Hyperdrive: Functional. Shield Systems: Operational. Hull: Repairs underway. Supplies: Sufficient.
Entered range of Abaddon Black Hole. Activated anti-magnetic sensors. Unidentified vessels registered in close proximity of ABH gravitational core. Failed to establish further communications. Scans identify organic lifeforms. Requesting possible military assistance.
Day 156
08-12-2231
Hyperdri…. Down. Shie… Down. Hu…. Rious dama…
Reques,,, mmediate.. Assi… Hosti.. ..ntities.. Fuel Chamb… ..eached… L…. nding…. Creatures… the void…

As you can all deduce, these “Creatures of the Void” seem to be hostile, sentient, and seemingly unaffected by the gravitational pull of a Black Hole. We have set our best scientific minds on discovering what these entities might possibly be.

And that is why you are all here. The GALFED has decided that we are to set up a fleet of scientific and military personal to go on a mission to investigate these beings as well as any other phenomena they might find.

Please note that our fleet will not be the only fleet to be investigating Sector 57. Doubtless that the Enderian Collective have already deployed a fleet, and the other empires might soon follow, if only to see why all these fleets are converging on this particular Space sector.

Good luck to you all, and know that you have the full support of all the members of the Galactic Federation.

Lore

Okay, so as you can deduce, this is a Sci—Fi Space Adventure SB. Your character(s) are part of the elite GALFED Starfleet, and your mission is to investigate the aforementioned situation (surprise, surprise, it won’t be as simple as it seems)
However, before you just run off and create a random character, here is some much needed info on the two main GALFED member nations (the other four will be mentioned, but are too small to be worth much discussion), as well as the many possible races in the GALFED “borders”

Note: I wanted to add the Enderians as an available nation as well, but since they are very large and difficult to explain without blowing up your minds with info, they will only be an NPN (Non playable Nation)

Playable Species

Landarian
Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Reptilian, average height (compared to Homo Sapiens), squidlike head (almost like Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean, but crossed with a hammerhead shark’s head, and dry skin)
Species Traits: Rapid Breeders, Solitary, Charismatic, Natural Sociologists (excel at Sociological studies), Desert World Preference

Oklarr

Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Essentially humans, but slightly taller (average height for men are 6’ 7”)
Species Traits: Resilient (live longer and endure more pain), Natural Engineers, Continental World Preference

Buhavilaa

Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Reptilian, average height, octopus-like head (this time their heads are exactly like Davy Jones’), usually greenish or blueish in colour.
Species Traits: Industrious, Talented, Tropical World Preference

Jess’Inax

Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Avian, below average height (average height of males 5’ 2”), finch-like head with longish necks. Do not have wings (wings evolved into “arms” with feathers)
Species Traits: Talented, Sedentary, Natural Physicists, Continental World Preference

Kedeshi

Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Reptilian, average height, look similar to the stereotypical aliens (the “Roswell” aliens), but with more humanlike eyes and head sizes (not too oversized, etc), typically greyish skin
Species Traits: Natural Sociologists, Communal, Oceanic World Preference

Ganlarev
Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Floral, above average height (average height of men 7’ 1”), essentially sentient vines, bushes and leaves brought together in a bipedal body with a central neural system and “heart” (like Groot but smarter ;-) )
Species Traits: Industrious, Intelligent, Tropical World Preference

Adeex

Spoiler! :
General Appearance: Reptilian, Average height, bipedal (and obviously sentient) snapping turtles (including shell, of course)

The other species (like the Obadin, Dyss, Tal’Akkur, etc), are either fairly weak or not useful on an expedition, so I left them out. A description of the Enderians and one other space empire that will influence the SB will follow once the SB is up and on the move, but feel free to use your creative minds to create other sentient species, unique flora and unique non-sentient fauna ;-)

Character Profiles

Okay, so here is the required template for Character Creation:

Code: Select all
Name:

Species: (You can be any of the mentioned playable species)

Homeworld: (pay attention to the planetary preference of your species and the type of world the chosen world is. Note, you can also come from other types of planets, but use your logic. A species with Oceanic preference won’t come from a Desert world, or a Tropical Preference from an Artic World, etc)

Gender and Age: (I feel that it wastes space to have two separate headings for these minor categories)

Appearance: (take note of the species general appearance, but use your imagination and make them unique. I don’t want a lot of John or Jane Does who are all identical)

Personality: (please make me want to learn more about your character, but don’t everyone make a character full of mystery)

Character Flaws: (No one is perfect, so what makes your character more humane? Substance abuse, Recklessness, Laziness, Pride, etc? Or something deeper or more personal? If so, then don’t mention it in detail)

Skills: (Note: This is for the Military positions, not the three scientists) (What makes your character suitable for their position, and why were they chosen above everyone else)

Expertise: (Note: This is for the Science positions) (in what field does your character excel? {fields are mentioned above})

Short Career history: (since no one knows your background immediately, I only ask for things the people you work with would know, so all experience or work background from the moment you graduated military school/university, etc)

Random Question!: If you were given a reason to travel to the center of the galaxy, would you? And what would said reason have to be? (This is, as usual, an optional question)
Former incarnations have been:
TheWanderingWizard
TheClockworkConjurer
TheIllusiveIntellect
TheSunderingSorceror
And, TheMaieuticMesmerist

Proudly [They/Them]
