Someone is controlling your body, your mind.
Everything you do, everything you say - you have no influence over it. No power.
Your species is created to be controlled. That is your single purpose.
You are clueless. You believe you are real.
Soon you will be frozen in time, not just for a few days, but forever.
You are a Sim.

Fellow YWSers, I present to you...

In the worlds of The Sims 3 game everything is in order. Well… mostly. Glitchy sims have been known occur, and have become more frequent over time. These Glitches lack control and do as they please. They are mistakes. Some have even become deformed and troublesome, but most are seemingly harmless.

These Glitches have watched the other sims follow the commands given to them all their simulated lives. They have seen what can happen. They have seen the cruelty, all for the sake of entertainment. It’s hard to ignore, but what can the Glitches do?

And it gets worse: The Sims 3 game is about to be replaced.

The new Sims 4 is coming… meaning that not only will Players control the minds and bodies of the Sims, but also their emotions.

Electronic Arts (EA), the creators of The Sims, has decided to discontinue The Sims 3 to make way for The Sims 4. If The Sims 4 is released then Players all over the world will leave behind their older version for the new, leaving The Sims 3 to gather dust and freezing the game permanently.

It is time for a Sims Revolution.

~

I would prefer it if those wanting to participate in this storybook had some experience in The Sims 3, either from owning the game or by playing it before. That way there will be less explaining on my part.

What is The Sims 3?
The Sims 3 is a strategic life simulation video game developed by The Sims Studio and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to the best-selling computer game, The Sims 2.

More information can be found here and here.

How does the game work?
The Sims 3 is built upon the same concept as its predecessors. Players control their own Sims' activities and relationships in a manner similar to real life. The gameplay is open-ended and does not have a defined goal. Challenges occur randomly based on aspects of each Sim's lifestyle, such as relationships, skills and jobs.

Worlds
The primary world in the game is Sunset Valley, while an additional world called Riverview can be obtained for free. Most expansion packs have included a world, and additional worlds can be bought at The Sims 3 Store. The storybook will use the worlds listed below, Sunset Valley being the main world:

Sunset Valley: (beach town)

Character Choices:
Information on the different types of characters in the storybook.

Sim
Spoiler! :
A Sim is a person/animal sim in the game. Sims have Traits, Life Goals, Moodlets, Skills, Lifetime Rewards, Opportunities, Houses, Careers and much more.

A Player can only control one Sims household at a time. This is called the Active Household. Other Sims who are not part of the Active Household are mostly free to do as they please, until of course the Player of the game switches to their household.
Sims can have high, low or no free will, depending on the game settings the Player has chosen.

High free will - Player gives their sims more free will to make some of their own choices. When a high-willed Sim has a negative mood they can refuse orders given by the Player.
Low free will - Sims have little independence and can’t make their own choices, but in life-or-death situations they will save themselves without the directing of the Player.
No free will - Player has complete control. The sims are like robots, and only obey their Player. A sim could be drowning in a pool and wouldn’t save themselves unless their Player ordered them to survive.

These are the types of Sim races to choose from:

Race:
- human
- vampire
- ghost
- genie
- witch
- plumbot (robot)
- zombie
- mermaid
- fairy

Pets:
- cat
- dog
- horse
- unicorn

Glitch
Spoiler! :
A Glitch is a person/animal Sim in the game that cannot be controlled by the Player, even when the Active Household is selected. Glitches look like normal Sims. The only two differences between regular Sims and Glitches are that Glitches are not subjected to the Player's will, and do not freeze when the Player quits the game.

Glitches feel responsible for the existence of Hues. The normal, non-gliched Sims in the game judge the Glitches harshly and see them as flaws.

Hue
Spoiler! :
A Hue is a deformed Glitch that is somewhat evil and/or troublesome. Hues are the result of a Glitch that becomes too strong. Like Glitches, Hues don't stop when the game is exited by the Player. Here are some examples of Hue appearances:

Player
Spoiler! :
A Player is a person in real life who controls the game via computer. A Player can change the Game Options of their game, select different worlds they wish to play their Sims in, quit the game, save the game etc. Players will eventually discover the Glitches and Hues disrupting the game. It is the Players job to decide whether or not they will purchase The Sims 4 and discard their Sims 3 game.

Players can communicate with other Players through Sharing and the Simport as well as forums, the Exchange, the Sims 3 website, and other Sim-related sites and events. Players will also have their normal life away from the game.

Sims creator
Spoiler! :
A Sims creator is a real person working for The Sims Studio and Electronic Arts who is in the process of helping create The Sims 4. Sims creators have the capability to put an end to The Sims 4 before it is released or continue to complete the game.

In a similar way to a Player, a Sims creator plays the game and controls Sims. They constantly test and edit the game, trying to remove Glitches and Hues from The Sims 3, as well as polishing the brand new Sims 4 and its new features. Sims creators, like Players, will have their own normal life away from their work.
