Welcome to the islands of Codonomo and Hrothgar, where the creatures roam among the humans- and the threat of war lingers in the air.

Plot Synopsis
Spoiler! :
Both islands are preparing for war, and the leaders are announcing to their citizens what has cause it. You are a part of an island, either as a citizen or a creature, and will either be sent to war or put to defend the island. Your story begins when you decide if your island is worth fighting for, and when you do something about it.

Note: This storybook will be a bit different in terms of advancing the plot. Both @VeerenVKS and @AlmondEyes are supreme overlords and will act as such. This means at any point in time, your character can be kidnapped, or sent to the battlefront, or have a bounty put on their head because the overlords said so. However, this will usually only happen when you want to jump into the story or need an idea for a post. If you would like this to purposely happen to you, feel free to contact your local overlord.

Codonomo

Description:
Spoiler! :
Mainly forestland, with a city in the center. A single river splits the city in two and is used to trade among various parts of the island. The majority of humans live in the city while others live in the forests among the other creatures. While most creatures are tame and can interact with humans, others are wild and savage and, on occasion, attack both humans and other creatures.

The island isn't very large, but has a large population of humans. Because of the humans, there have been quite a bit of techonological breakthroughs, including guns and boats. Codonomo akes pride in their army and their control over the majority of the creatures in the area. However, the monarchy in the kingdom is often called corrupt for hiding things from the public, but they are not too controlling of the people themselves. The monarchs are in charge of the military and police in the streets of the city, and in charge of maintaining order. Other than that, the citizens are left alone.

In the city, there are typical jobs; working at markets, fishing in the river, delivering good, teaching children, etc. People live regular lives, but there are drafts if too little people join the army at any one point. The majority of crimes are punishible by death, so there are hardly ever any committed.

In the forests, there's lots of farmland, which provides more places for humans to stay, and more solitutude for those who want it. The only downside is that there is less protection from outsiders and savage creatures, as well as a longer waiting time for news and help to get to them. Outside the farmland, there are hoardes of both friendly and enemy creatures, so living or traveling there is on your own head.

The entire perimeter of the island is filled with watch towers and sailing ports for the citizens of Codonomo. Each tower is heavily guarded by both humans and creatures.

Inside the City, some creatures patrol the streets with police and maintain order, but for the most part creatures keep to the forests.

Humans of Codonomo:

Spoiler! :
Soldiers:
Work alongside various creatures in the City to prevent crime and assure that everyone is safe. Soldiers are occasionally sent to the forests to take care of trouble, or just to scount in general.

Citizens:
Normal people who have normal jobs (includes farmers and sailors and the like). Can do almost anything they want as long they aren't interrupting the flow of anyone else's daily lives.

Knights:
Higher ranked and battle tested soldiers. They defend the castle, and the perimeter of the island, mostly. They also deal with the majority of issues involving creatures, and take orders from no one but the king himself.

Guerrilla:
Infantry soldiers that specialize in invading enemy territory. They are known for being silent, and are hidden from the public of Codonomo.

Creatures of Codonomo:

Spoiler! :
Elves:
The Elves of Codonomo aren't like normal Elves. Originally stolen off of Hrothgar centuries ago, the majority of Elves have been experimented on and are no more than puppets for war. This is hidden from the public, though, as a select group of Elves have been bred and corrupted by the Codonomo monarchy enough to go along with whatever they like. This group is what the public sees. That being said, the majority of Elves are able to communicate easily with humans, as they speak the same language.

Kraken:
Giant squid looking sea creatures that are large enough to take down entire ships with their tenticles. While they only obey humans through the elves interactions with them, there are some Kraken that have been bred in captivity and trained for fighting any enemies. For the most part, unless provoked, they are fairly docile creatures.

Orcs:
With mostly oversized human features, Orcs are considered useless for everything besides their strength. They're not exactly up to speed, both mentally or physically, and can only barely pull of simple conversation, but they are dedicated to defending their land. They don't like being intruded on, and those who grow around humans consider them part of their horde as well, and will fight for them. They are often found in the forest, swinging around large tree trunks for fun.

Dragons:
Magestic, giant, flying lizards that can greath fire and reek havok when they need to. Though they are hardly seen in groups more than two, they are very friendly around humans and most other creatures. Only trolls seem to annoy then, and it isn't odd to hear of a dragon eating one from time to time. A dragon lives to see kingdoms rise and fall, and there has only been one sighting of a newborn dragon, almost three hundred years ago. The monarchy owns but two dragons, one that can carry up to fifity soldiers on its back while fighting for itself, and one that is a bit smaller, but extremely versatile to combat. It is their war dragon, and is only brought out when things look grim. The few other dragons are still in the wild.

Minotaurs:
With giant bull horns on its face, the body of an orc, and the legs of a horse, Minotaurs are very scary creatures. The majority of them are in captivity by the monarchy, and trained for the army. The few that are in the wild are usually hostile towards humans and other creatures, and are the most reported wild creatures there are. They are both extremely fast and strong, and difficult to manage if you try to capture them, let alone kill them.

Trolls:
Huge, fat, goofy looking humanoid creatures. They are much like giants, except lack the intellegence to keep up with anything around them. They can speak, but hardly manage to say a single word properly, if it's even the right one. The Monarchy sees no usefulness in them, as they are too dense to learn anything, and too difficult to control. The only time they'd attack an enemy is if they accidentally stepped on them. Because of this, they are usually left alone in the wild, and are hardly ever heard from or complained about.

Hrothgar

Description:
Spoiler! :
Mostly surrounded by rivers, streams, and lakes with crystal clear water you can see all the way down to the bottom, along with lush green forrests. Some humans choose to live in the forrest, some near the forrest where the streams run, and some choose to live in the city to the far North. Creatures and humans can live in harmony with another, but there will always be those who rebel against the thought, and those who choose to live outside of the community.

The island is fairly large, though there are more creatures than humans. The Monarchy is charged with keeping the peace and proud of their military and police strength. There is also a council comprised of creatures and humans to meet out fair justice and help keep things in order, though not all are above corruption.

There are your typical jobs on the island; Marketplaces, Architecture, Weapons smiths, Animal breeds, etc. Most major crimes are punishable by death or life imprisonment, so most are smart enough not to end up there. Most.

In the forrest are small camps set up where others farm, growing and breeding, among other things. For those who want a place in in a small community, this would be ideal. The down side to this, is that for the most part, they are left vulnerable to attacks from savages and outsiders, because there are many enemies creatures out there. So do so at own risk.

The inside and outside of the city, along with the island perimeter are guarded closely by humans and creatures alike to keep the order and control for everyone's safety, including watch station and light houses at the North West, East, South, and in between.

Humans of Hrothgar

Spoiler! :
Soldiers:
Work alongside various creatures in the City to prevent crime and assure that everyone is safe. Soldiers are occasionally sent to the forests to take care of trouble, or just to scount in general.

Citizens:
Normal people who have normal jobs. They can do almost anything they want as long they aren't interrupting the flow of anyone else's daily lives. (Architect, Breeding, Smith etc.)

Knights:
Higher ranked and battle tested soldiers. They defend the castle, and the perimeter of the island, mostly. They also deal with the majority of issues involving creatures, and take orders from no one but the one who wears the crown.

Watchmen:
Same thing as Knights, but with less Armor. Think of them as undercover cops or something, but with the same rank as Knights, and like them, they answer only to the one who wears the crown. They are also know for infiltrating Codonomo as spies. They move like ghosts, and no one, except the Queen herself and a handful of her personal guard know who they are.

Creatures of Hrothgar

Spoiler! :
Centaur:
A creature that is part human, part horse. From head to chest, human, and from chest to down, the body of a horse. They are very loyal and honest in their ways, and only fight when provoked, and are otherwise very gentle and protective. Centaur are also fierce on the battle field and unafraid of death. There is a special breed of Centaur that can shift their lower half to human form(if you want to do this, then you'll have to ask me before hand).They are used to train and sometimes lead armies.

Sirens:
Beautiful singers of the Sea that are humanoid creatures with dark hair and long lithe bodies. They normally dwell in the water and lure humans into the dark depths of the water with their voices as you often hear of in tales. While on land, they look like blue and green skinned human with tiny gill behind their ears that allow them to breathe air. They are normally very playful creature you often hear gigging in the forest. They like to seduce humans, often to breed with them, and sometimes, kill them in the process by accident. Some times they do kill after breeding for the hell of it if the humans survive, so you should watch yourself.

Druids:
A priest, magician, or soothsayer in the ancient Celtic religion. They are human, and are actually known to be very social at times, but mostly keep to themselves. If you met one, chances are you wouldn't know it. They are among the greatest healers and fortune tellers.

Mermaids:
Upper body of a human and lower body a fish, you'll often find them swimming along through the waters playing. They are very enticing creatures that like to play with humans, or atleast play tricks on them. They are often playful in nature, and rarely ever harm anyone, but they never forget a face, so don't cross them. Their version of water boarding is a lot less fun.They can temporarily walk on land as a human, but only for a short amount of time.

Griffins:
Giant winged creatures with the body of a Lion and the head of a bird (with ears, that is). They soar high in the sky where they belong, and are very shy and gentle natured creatures that aren't often sighted, since they stick to nesting on higher grounds. They an speak like any human can, though there voices are deep, and are actually very intelligent.

Elves:
Quiet people who keep to themselves and are very territorial and protective of their land. They don't take kindly to trespassers and aren't very friendly. Elves are cold and calculating, and untrusting, though they are very wise.

Unicorns:
Beautiful and majestic creatures that have White, Silver, or Gold horns. They are often very curious creatures, always venturing off to different parts of the forrest, yet also very cautious as well. They aren't seen very often, due to being hunted for their horns because of the healing properties they possess.

Ominous Narration From The Voice in the Sky

The night before it all...

On the coast of Hrothgar...

The Guerillas of Codonomo moved silently through the forests. With their ship docked just behind them, they expected the run to be as quick as any other. This forest was no stranger to them, despite not having grown up anywhere near it. The group moved quickly from tree to tree, using the cover of dark to their advantage. All they needed now was to find what they were looking for.

The head of the team suddenly froze and raised his hand, signaling for everyone to stop. They each hid behind a tree, peeking around to see what caused their leader to put the mission on hold.

"Everyone gather." he whispered, just loud enough for everyone to hear.

As they all came together behind him, he put his finger to his lip, and then pointed out into the open land in front of him. A murmur went through the group.

"Keep it down," the leader said, "It looks like they've put up a settlement here. There are people everywhere. Dammit." He looked around once more, "It seems quiet, but keep your eyes open. We'll need to go around, and we have no idea where we might find people."

The group nodded in silent agreement and set off in search of a new trail. Staying close they had eyes everywhere, but the atmosphere was a bit more tense now that they didn't know what to expect. They kept to the perimeter of the newly made plot of land, and always watched the few civilians they saw in the town with wary eyes.

"Who's there?!" A voice came from nearby.

The leader pointed up and everyone ascended the tree nearest to them.

A Rathian Soldier suddenly appeared below them, accompanied by a few citizens holding farming tools. They spread about, looking for anything suspicious.

"I know I heard something." The soldier said.

"You sure it wasn't just an elf or something?" One of the famers said.

"No, elves wouldn't hide from us. Split up, and yell if you see anything. The others should hear you too." The soldier ordered.

And just that they did. They all went in different directions, and the Guerillas hoped they'd pass it off as nothing but their imagination soon enough. Unfortunately, life wasn't so kind to them. As the leader looked down, a man was staring at him, and seemed about seconds away from screaming to his comrads. As quickly as he could, the leader dropped down and dug a blade into the mans throat, unfortunately not before he let a small yelp escape his lips.

"Dammit." The leader cursed himself for getting caught.

Other citizens came running down to where they heard the noise, but the Guerillas followed the example of their leader and took them out in the same way.

"They'll be here soon, we need to get ou-"

The leaders eyes widened and his words were cut short as he dropped to his knees. The Guerillas mouths dropped open as they saw the sword sticking out of the back their leaders head, and the soldier standing where he once was.

"HELP! INTRUDERS OVER HE-"

The soldier was cut off as another Guerilla dropped from his tree to impale him.

"Now the whole damn town knows we're here. We have to head back before they find u-"

"THERE THEY ARE!" A voice cut Guerilla off.

"Retreat, NOW!"

And so the Guerillas fled back to their ship to return home and report their failure to the king.

On the coast of Codonomo...

The Watchmen of Hrothgar observed the port as best they could in the darkness, and they didn't like what they saw. The elves on Codonomo were nothing like the ones back in Hrothgar; some were even bound by chains.

"Are we ready to go captain? I think we've seen as much as we need to." A watchmen said to their leader.

The leader looked out into the port, "We're going to have to take one of these... things back with us." He turned to the group, "Two of you go prepare the ship. Make sure it's ready for departure as soon as we arrive. The rest of you, stay close, and stay quiet. We'll go for an easy target, we have to do this quickly."

The group nodded in agreement and took up their positions. It was a straight shot towards a single mutated elf that was leashed to a nearby wall, who happened to have four very large arms instead of two. There was no one nearby, and they anticipated an easy job.

"I want two of you to head towards the chain and get it off the wall. Break it off if you have to, but do it quick, it'll be noisy. Three of you head for the elf and bind him, mouth first. Can't have him making any extra noise can we? The rest of us stay on alert. Take out any Codos you see as quietly as you can. We don't want to be too messy. Only kill if you ab-so-lute-ly have to."

The group whispered that they understood and everyone set off. The leader joined the group going to bind the elf, and quickly wrapped both his mouth and eyes with cloth. They then began to work on restraining on his arms as the chains rang behind them, but he was unexpectedly strong. Growing frustrated at the time they were wasting, the leader ordered the soldiers on watch to help them bind the elf. With a bit of struggle, they tied him down well enough to where he could hardly wiggle, but they didn't know how long he would stay this way.

"Alright, let's hurry back, we've wasted enough time as it is."

As if on cue, the chain snapped, and a scream peirced the sky. The group turned to where the chain was being broken to see their comrade getting his eyes gouged out by an abnormally large Elf. Only the Watchman that was working with him dared to make a move, and stuck a blade inbetween the eyes of their friends killer. He fell without a sound.

"Everyone back to the ship! Quick!" the leader shouted.

Dragging the abnormal Elf with them, they made haste to their vessel and set off home to both celebrate their victory and mourn their loss.

.. and so the first shots of war were fired.

Sir Polius Alexander (King of Codonomo) - Day One

"- and we weren't able to capture any elves because of it."

The Guerillas kneeled before me, telling me the tales of their failed mission. I slowly paced back and forth in front of them, a dagger dangling at my side. Letting out a sigh, I stepped towards the Guerilla at the rightmost of the line and raised his head. Our eyes met and I drew my dagger, thrusting it neatly in between his eyes.

Letting his body drop to the floor, along with my dagger, I faced the others, "Please, don't dissappoint me again."

None of them moved a muscle.

"That's all for now, you may go, but be ready for dispatch at a moments notice," There was no need to tell them to explain what happened here to the others, it would naturally happen, "But Yury, hang back a little."

Everyone else stood and left, leaving me and Yury alone. Don't be frightened, young one.

"No need for formalities now, you may stand and talk to me." I told.

He stood and his eye immediately shifted towards the body on the floor before they met mine, "Hm."

"You're going to take over this squad. They're in need of a strong leader, and I can't have another screw up. I was hoping you would be able to pull them through any further missions." I told him.

"It will be done." he said, with a slight nod.

I smiled at him, "Very well then, you may go."

He turned on his heels and quickly left the room. I walked over to the body on the floor and knelt down to pull my blade out of his head. Wiping the blood off on the floor, I stood back up and sheathed it.

"Clean this place up," I said, as I heard the footsteps behind me, "And gather the people in the front of the castle. I'm going to make an announcement. Bring the prisoner to me."

* * *

I stepped out on to the elevated balcony, looking out in to the massive crowd that had gathered at my doorstep. They shuffled about trying to get a good look at me; children sitting on their parents shoulders, people shoving to get closer, even creatures looking up attentively. With a raise of my hands, I motioned for silence, and they complied.

"My people," my eyes shifted among them all, "And dearest allies, the news I bear for you all today is unfortunately extremely troubling for both you and I. Our sister Island, Hrothgar, has committed an act that I so desperately wish to be able to forgive, but would be doing an injustice to you if I did."

I listened to the exclamations of the crowd; the curious whispers and the furious shouts.

"At ease citizens, hear before you judge. So you don't think I pull tales of thin air, take a look at this."

Carried by two soldiers, the Rathian Watchmen was brought out with both his mouth and eyes covered, and displayed to the crowd.

"What you have here, is a soldier- no, something else, I believe, from the island of Hrothgar. He was found on our coast, on the brink of death, along with one of our very own elves, who unfortunately wasn't as lucky," I tilted my head to the side, "Did you know he wouldn't be alive if it weren't for us? We saved him, despite what we saw. We didn't want to make assumptions until we really knew what happened. So we saved him, and he has yet to cooperate with us one bit."

The crowd booed and moaned their dissatisfaction.

"Do you all want us to try again?" Met by a roar of approval, I removed the cloth covering the enemy's mouth, "Tell us, what happened last night? What was you're business here?"

He took a few gasps for air before speaking, "Screw you."

He was immediately bound once more and taken back into the castle as I addressed the audience, "Need you anymore evidence that he was up to no good? An innocent mind has nothing to hide."

The crowd was growing more and more restless. They weren't used to hearing new like this, at least not since I took the throne.

"And now comes my decision. I say this with both a heavy heart and trembling hands, but we must prepare for war." As expected, the crowd burst into recklessness, "Please! My citizens, allow me to finish. I will allow them one chance, I want to have a meeting with their leader. Hopefully we'll be able to work things out and this can all be righted, but based on what has happened here, that seems doubtful. So please, be wary of your surroundings. We will increase military presence everywhere, and we will be opening spots for enlisting new soldiers. We do hope you'll join us in the effort to defend our land, and if need be, give back to the enemy what they deserve."

The crowd let out a howl of approval, and I waved to dismiss them all. I stepped back in to the castle, where I had a two Guerrillas waiting for me. They nodded as I approached and followed as I walked past. We entered a small room together and one of the Guerrillas locked it as soon as we were all inside.

"When I meet with the queen, I don't want anything going wrong," I said, looking between the two, "If we go there, we're not screwing up. How much fire power do we have?"

"We have loads of guns, and enough powder to blow through any fortifications they might have." One answered.

"No, no explosions. It would make the citizens think we came prepared for war and not peace. Guns will seem like we're just being cautious, which should be perfectly acceptable."

"In that case, we're fine on supplies."

"Excellent, now, I want you to gather a team for delivery. Write a letter to the Queen and have it circulate into the mail system of Hrothgar. There isn't any need for you to take any risk by delivering it to her yourself. Alright?"

"Yes my king, and what should the letter say?"

"Have it say, 'I want to meet with you, we have things to discuss. Bring two ships and we will meet in the middle of the ocean dividing us. We'll meet on a single ship with no one on but two guards each, not including the captain. But there's one thing I must know, will you bring the meeting ship or shall I?"

Luna~ Day One

Spoiler! :
I hope you guys enjoy my post!! The end is really something xD @Auxiira, make sure you read the end of the post

I had been in the Arsenal room, looking over the weapons and making sure they were being maintained to my standards when there was a knock on the door. Without a word, I turned to see a soldier walk in with two people behind him. I nodded, and the soldier gave a slight bow before leaving the room. I didn't know who these to two were, but they were her for a reason.

"Report." I look to the man and small woman standing beside him, shifting restlessly.

"Reporting for mission briefing, Ma'am," he replies for both of them, straightening.

"I was wondering when you would get here." I reach out to shake his hand. "General Luna Darko."

"Savino Holguin, and this is Anaith Quatr, my... student." His eyes slide her way with a slight frown, and she stops moving before bowing her head slightly. "We're reporting for watch"

"Ma'am," she says quietly.

"Raise your head," I cross my arms over my chest. "And look me in my eyes." She looks up, meeting my eyes. Her eyes were green on the outside, and bloodred next to the pupil.

Those were quite the unique color. I'd never see another soul with eyes like that.

"When you're with me, you look me in the eye, and speak with conviction," I tell her. "Do you understand me, Anaith?"

"Yes, Ma'am." She nods, glancing back over at Savino cautiously.

I turn to look at Savino, then back at her. There was something there, but I didn't have the time to ponder over it.

"Anyways," I say after a long glance at Savino. "Now to the task at hand. Your mission will be to collect information on the Codo's status and strategies for war, how they're able to steal our elves and what they're doing, how they're moving, when they're moving, and why they're moving. Understood?"

"Yes, Ma'am," they chorus, standing a little straighter.

"When will we leave, Ma'am?" Savino asks, a small smile decorating his lips.

I already didn't like this guy. If were were fighting on opposite sides, I would chop him in two and mount him on a spike.

"You'll leave when-"

The doors fly open, and Ragnar, me second in command, comes flying into the room. Ragnar was a Centaur who'd been here with me since the day I arrived here. He stayed by my side and help me become the person I am today. I would trust him with my life, and much more.

"General," he nods. "Forgive me for the intrusion, but something urgent has just come up, and you need to see to it right now."

"What is it?" I frown.

"See for yourself." he replied.

************

"What in the world is this?!" I snap, turning to look at my men.

"It's a mutated Elf we found chained up." One of the soldiers, Anton, answered. "We thought it best to bring one back"

I turned to look at the Elf, feeling like I wanted to retch. Why would anyone put Elves in chains? Had the Elves been turned into slave on top of being experimented on? The thought made me feel the urge to to rip someone in two. How dare they come on to our land, take our people, do only Lord knows to them, and not expect retaliation? My fists clenched so tight, my knuckles screamed in protest.

I looked at the four armed creature in question. What

"General Darko?" Anton stepped forward.

I rounded on him without meaning to, but he stood his ground, which I liked, but I was still pissed.

"What?" I snapped.

"We captured a Guerrilla that we suspected is their leader." he motions to several other soldiers who drag a half conscious man and drop in front of me.

He sways on his knees, but hold strong though his eye looked half glazed over, but aware. Probably from the loss of blood. There was a nice sized stain on the front of his shirt. I looked down at his face. He was actually quite handsome. Sharp cheek bones with a square jaw covered with a generous amount of hair, with a nose that looked like it had been broken more than once. I grabbed his jaw, tilting his face up to look at me.

"What do they call you, Guerrilla?" I ask as look into his eyes.

He looked at me, but said nothing. That was just fine. I get down on one knee to better peer into his Coal black eyes, so cold and determined. I wondered what he was thinking. Probably nothing pleasant, so chances were I really didn't wanna know.

"You hide behind silence like a fool." I tell him. "Don't be a fool."

His gaze turned from cold to malice, his nostrils flaring like a flip had been switched, and he spat in my face. Everyone around me moved, ready to twist a sword in him, but I held my hand up, halting them. Turning back to him, I wipe my face down. Ragnar steps forward, prodding the Guerrilla's neck until blood drew.

"You would dare spit on General Darko?" he growled. "I should cut your tongue for your disrespect"

I put a finger to his blade and gently push it away, looking over at him. "Come now, Ragnar. Temper temper."

Ragnar's chest rose and fell with his harsh breaths. Every muscle in his body looked taut as if ready to snap. He looked ready to rip him in two, and with his being a Centaur, he could literally do it. The idea did have it's appeal, but I pushed out of my mind. I had my own plans I was sure he would find just as fitting.

I look back the the Guerrilla, all signs of pleasantness gone. "You come onto our land, take our people, put them in chains, and misuse and abuse them, and think we're just going to let you do it?"

Again, he says nothing. I nodded, taking a stand, then pace in front of him, my heels clicking against the the cobblestone. As I look down at him, still pacing, I ask, "You're nothing to more to say?"

"Burn in hell, bitch," he spits Viciously. "and you tell your Queen she'll be put to work after we take what's hers for ourselves."

I come to stand in front of him, and without warning did my fingers into his neck, my nails sinking through muscle and sinew. His eye bulge wide as he chokes up blood. My fingers close around his trachea, yanking it out, along with his tongue, blood splattering everywhere, including my face. His body is still for a moment, then drops lifelessly at my feet.

"Didn't your mother ever teach you not say anything if you couldn't say anything nice?" I grimace as I toss his leftover in my hands away from me in disgust. "Now you can say anything at all."

Ragnar smiles with smug pride at me, while the other soldiers just gawk at the Guerrilla's body. I turn to the two watchmen i'd momentarily forgotten were there, and walk toward them. They stood straighter as I neared, still glancing at the body before bringing there attention back on me.

"I assume you're both ready." I raise an eyebrow.

They both not instead of saying anything.

"Good," I motion to Anton. "Officer Anton will give you everything you'll need and then you'll be on. Am I understood?"

They were both looking at the blood still dripping from my right hand, but snapped to and said. "Yes ma'am"

I nod. "Good."

Looking over at the other soldiers, I raise an eyebrow. "Well? Someone needs to get that thing out of my sight."

They all scramble towards the body as I take my leave with Ragnar at my side.

Spoiler! :
If you spot any mistakes, let me know. And tell me what you thought of my post :)

Yury Lucretios -Day One

I left the Kings’ throne room, picking up my pace with every step. I was eager to get out. Get out of these clothes, this mode. I was so eager I had almost broken into a jog as I passed into one of the palaces bathing chambers. I knelt down upon the edge of the lukewarm basin and splashed the water into my face, the paint stinging my eyes and running down in dark streams into the water below.

I completely submerged my face before flicking my head up, gasping, and began to unpick the braided strands spanning to the top of my head.
It took me half an hour to undo the entire style, but the relief of tension at the end felt good. I was back to my usual self.

Just as I had requested, the robes had been freshly laid out for me near the sill of the window. I quickly dressed and dried myself, following my reflection in the glass, making sure that all signs of paint and blood were vanished.
I almost cursed aloud, then apologised for the use of profanity in my own head. On my right cheek there was a small scrape, the tiniest of a nick, but it was still there.

How would I explain this... how would I live with a trace of the guerilla lifestyle seeping into my daily routine. I shook it off.
___I walked into a branch. I convinced myself. I was going to tend to the flowers outside of the cathedral and I lifted my face into a bush. I smiled. I could believe that.

I brush my hair flat and bounce back out into the palace, as perky as the flowers in my imagination. It was only a short trip back to the Cathedral, or perhaps I could make my stop by the smaller temple to sympathise with the people enduring difficult times. I just needed to get somewhere holy.
___Somewhere I could feel safe.

I turned the corner to the exit only to dread and behold, the person I was least in the mood to see out of anyone or anything. Vesperi.
I couldn’t ignore him, I couldn’t pretend not to see him. No, I would never do that to anyone no matter how hated. I plastered on my most perfect smile.
___ “Good afternoon Ezreal!” I sung. He most certainly hated being called on such a friendly basis by me. “It is pleasant to see you, how do you fare in this mildly pleasant weather?” I slowed my pace in the case he decided to chat, but he just gave me a calm glare and continued on his busy path.
___ Heh. Suit yourself you stuck up elf.

* * *

From the front of the castle a huge crowd had begun to disperse. One of the kings speeches, on conflict I presumed. I was almost glad that I missed it.

I decided to head to the small temple, weaving my way between the rushing bodies. Only a few days before I had left for my last assignment there had been a frightful fire at the temple, burning it to the ground and devastating the community that surrounded it. I had decided to take myself away from the grand stone cathedral that I called home and turn my attentions to regathering the temple and building moral in its patrons. It could be harmful when one had no place to worship our Goddess when they needed to the most.

As I grew closer to the site of the old temple, I heard friendly voices call out my name. They sounded happy to see me. If my presence could bring joy to their hearts I am content. I waved to several old woman, who I called out to each by name. It was a habit of mine, remembering names of anyone who spoke to me, anyone who admired me. It gave them a sense of importance.

Birds chirped. Fresh Breeze. Flower petals fell around. Small children clung to my robes in happiness. The sun smiled on us all.
___ Ah~ Everything was so happy.

The site had already started to be cleared. The men who were working at dusting away the ash returned from the kings speech and have resumed their duties. I took my time to visit every single person working hard and gifted them a smile and prayer before I headed over to a stack of crates of materials. I leant back on my arms, stretched my spine and opened and closed my palms. I was never much good at heavy duty types of stuff, lifting, hammering, bending. At least that’s what I told myself. I knelt down and made a great effort to struggle with the crates without actually lifting them.
___ “Hello Yury. Busy as usual I see.”

I let my girlish fingers slip from beneath the crate and stood up quickly to see Ferria Noir, the blacksmith girl, standing behind me. She picked up the crate without even having to be asked, and waited to be told where to go.
___ “It’s good to see you, Ferria. You are always such a help.” I started as I walked toward where the creates were to be delivered. She followed, heaving them with a grunt.
___ “It is so kind of you to selflessly help me out like this.”
___ “No problem...”
I stopped and she placed the crate down.
___ “I was thinking about another way to help rebuild the temple... perhaps a charity of some sort. Maybe a festival.” I began, starting on my small talk.
___ “I know how you play the lute so beautifully, so I was wondering, if we were to hold such an event perhaps you could play, maybe accompany the children’s choir?”
___ Ferria laughed. At first I thought she could be getting irritated at my talkative attitude, but of course that was not the case. How could I ever irritate anyone? Except that good-for-nothing elf; but then again I was always kind, even to him.

Ferria chuckled once more. “Of course I will.”
___ I thought for a moment.
___ “I normally have many places to be, but I know your friend Siofra enjoys planning things. Perhaps you could ask her about her assistance? I would be ever grateful with more of the public behind me.”
___ "Sio? Oh she'd be happy to help. I think."
I clapped my hands together delicately. “Wonderful.”

Ferria put her hands on her hips and leant back, tossing her gaze around the busy scene of workers behind her.
___ “She might be busy, but I’ll ask her.” She concluded.
___ “Your heart is truly blessed. Goddess smiles at you.” I bowed my head in a polite greeting and Ferria waved me her goodbyes, off to deal with her daily duties.

I patted myself on the hand. A charity festival. Money could be raised. The temple could be rebuilt faster, and most of all, it would give me a nice distraction to take my mind off the kings next set of orders, and the next wave of blood.
___Good thinking, Yury.
Hahah....haha.....ahahaha.

Anaith Quatr - Day One

___I paced down the corridor behind Savino, following a soldier who was taking us to the General. My palms were sweaty, my wrists ached, and I wanted to run. Savino still had that effect on me, even now. Even after nine years. He's not your mentor now. Just your superior. That seemed even more terrifying in some ways. The soldier pushed the door to the Arsenal room open after knocking. It opened to a tanned woman with dark black and silver hair. The General. I stopped next to Savino, shifting from one foot to the other. Confined spaces and weapons brought back memories I didn't want to remember.
___"Report." I waited for my ex-mentor to speak.
___"Reporting for mission briefing, Ma'am." He was always polite to people above him, though I could hear a tiny sneer in his voice. The woman seemed you her than him. It was probably that.
___"I was wondering when you would get here." She shook his hand firmly, then took a step back again. "General Luna Darko." I smiled inside at her name as I shifted. Silver and black hair. Luna Darko.
___"Savino Holguin, and this is Anaith Quatr, my... student." I felt his eyes slide over me, sensed a frown. I froze and lowered my eyes so I couldn't meet his. He still considered me a student. It was enough to chill me. "We're reporting for watch"
___"Ma'am," I said quietly as a way of acknowledgment.
___"Raise your head," I saw her cross her arms. "And look me in my eyes." I loved my eyes, the only sign of the Druid in me, but I knew they unsettled people. As I met her eyes, I only saw curiosity in their entrancing silver and purple depths. It was like looking at the night sky, in the forest, filled with stars.
___"When you're with me, you look me in the eye, and speak with conviction," I was instructed. "Do you understand me, Anaith?"
___"Yes, Ma'am." I nodded, glancing back at Savino. A smirk graced his lips, as if he knew it was impossible for me to not act deferent in his presence.
___She stared at Savino before continuing. "Anyways. Now to the task at hand. Your mission will be to collect information on the Codo's status and strategies for war, how they're able to steal our elves and what they're doing, how they're moving, when they're moving, and why they're moving. Understood?"
___"Yes, Ma'am," I said in time with Savino, standing a little straighter. I had never been to Codomono, let alone on a mission.
___"When will we leave, Ma'am?" IA smile danced, mocking her silently. He didn't respect her, because she was younger than him and a woman. It didn't take a genius to see that.
___"You'll leave when-" The door slammed open to let in a centaur and I skittered backwards into Savino. His nails dug into my arms. He always kept them sharp. I couldn't listen to what the centaur was saying, concentrating on breathing normally.

___"Behave," he growled, as if I was still the young girl he had taken in. I nodded, petrified, and he let go. I knew there'd be bruises. We followed the General down stairs, through twisting corridors until we passed through a door and met with the task force, surrounding an Elf with four arms and a man. My stomach lurched. The Elf was a travesty, not something intended to be on the earth, I could sense that from this far.

___"What in the world is this?!" Darko snapped, whirling to the men.
___"It's a mutated Elf we found chained up." A soldier piped. "We thought it best to bring one back." Darko seemed beyond furious, her fists clenched tight. She turned back to the Elf, if it could be called so, for a few seconds before being called by the same soldier. "General Darko?"
___She turned on him, snapping, "What?"
___"We captured a Guerrilla that we suspected is their leader." A few more soldiers dump a man on his knees in front of her. I drowned the itch which wanted to heal the man in thoughts and feelings. I couldn't heal him. He was the enemy. It was as simple as that. Although, the itch didn't make a difference between healing and killing.

___Darko seized his jaw and turned his face up to her.
___"What do they call you, Guerrilla?" He didn't reply. She crouched down, touching a knee to the ground so she was almost at his height.
___"You hide behind silence like a fool. Don't be a fool." 'Silence is necessary. No screams, no curses, not one single word." Savino's lesson echoed in my mind as the Guerrilla spat on the General.Every soldier reacted, moving forwards and half drawing their swords, until Darko stopped them. The centaur from earlier moved forwards, pressing his sword to the man's neck until a trickle of blood crept down.
___"You would dare spit on General Darko?" he growled. "I should cut your tongue for your disrespect"
___The General pushed his sword away almost delicately, with one finger on the flat of the blade. "Come now, Ragnar. Temper temper." I took it that he was prone to bouts of anger, and he struggled to calm down.
___She turned back to the Guerrilla. "You come onto our land, take our people, put them in chains, and misuse and abuse them, and think we're just going to let you do it?" In a way, his silence wasn't that impressive. It was easy to stay silent when you aren't being tortured. Dark on nodded, pacing back and forth in front of the man. Her stature was enough to make one nervous, but pain was the best teller. I wondered how the man would scream if I pricked him with poison. I had enough of them on me to kill him in a few seconds, and all of them were messy ends.
___"You've nothing to more to say?" Darko asked coldly, her voice a blocking burning ice.
___"Burn in hell, bitch," he spat. No curses.

___She stopped in front of him, reaching forwards. Blood seeps everywhere, from his mouth and around her fingers as she ripped out his windpipe and tongue. I watched, half fascinated by her cruelty, half disgusted by the mess.
___"Didn't your mother ever teach you not say anything if you couldn't say anything nice?" She chucked the mess in her hands to the floor, grimacing. "Now you can't say anything at all."
___I think she gained some respect from Savino, though I knew he wouldn't have done it the same way. I stared at the pool of blood growing around the man's neck. It would've been less messy, more painful. My wrists ached.

___Darko came over to us, little rivulets of blood dripping down her hands. I stood a little straighter.
___"I assume you're both ready." She arched an eyebrow, daring us to retort. We both nodded. "Good," She called over the soldier who had reported to her. I hadn't recognised him before, but I knew him. "Officer Anton will give you everything you'll need and then you'll be on. Am I understood?"
___I saw Savino watching the blood dripping from her hand and didn't want to know what he was thinking. "Yes ma'am"
___She nodded. "Good." She ordered the soldiers to get rid of the body before leaving with the centaur. Anton grinned at us.
___"Our General is pretty fierce, right?" We had already met before. He was normally the one to organise the missions. "Anyway, off we go." We followed him back upstairs to the room commonly known as the Mission Room. Two files sat on the desk, waiting to be read.

___"Anaith, you'll be working in Codo's castle." He handed me the file on the left. I flipped it open to see a map of the castle. "A bit of that is guesswork." I nodded and closed the file again. There'd be enough time to memorise it. "Vino, you're in the town." Close enough to find me. Savino nodded. "There's a ship waiting down at the harbour, so get ready and leave. You only need a few items of clothing, nothing that can be identified as from here. Take a few personal items... If you have any." His gaze lingered on me, and I knew that I was still just the street rat which 'Vino' had been kind enough to take in, and who was always ungrateful. Even now. We both nodded and Sir'ed, then paced out of the room.

___"Ana." His voice was honey sweet and dangerous, dripping venom down my throat until I couldn't breathe. "If you, by any chance, fail this, or compromise us, or turn traitor, like the vermin you are, you'll end up worse than the Guerrilla, except you'll still be alive. Is that understood?" I nodded, unable to force a sound out of my throat. "Come, Rat." I couldn't say anything to his old nickname for me. "We have work." I trotted after him, a little more than scared of doing this mission with him.

Spoiler! :
Ahh, I meant to add in more, but this already seemed pretty long... Anyway, she's only like that around Savino >.>

Ferria Noir - Day One

I fanned myself lazily, mulling about in the shop while the master smith trained the newest set of apprentices. I had been helping out with the reconstruction of a burned temple, but since Yury seemed to have that under control, I came back early. As the sound of weak pounding flooded into my ears, triggering my perfectionist blacksmith habits, I tried to come up with a plan for the day. I could go into town, see the market. It couldn't hurt to supplement my meager paycheck by playing lute in town. Of course, if the master smith heard about that, he'd have a fit. So maybe that would hurt. Not that I needed the money anyway-room and board were already covered.

Or I could make good on my offer to ask Sio to help Yury plan that festival. The real question was: where was Sio?

Heaving myself, from the workbench I'd been lounging on, I strolled out of the shop and into the bright light of town.

Everything was a warm grey, the buildings, the streets, and even the wood seemed devoid of vivid color. It had been that way for as long as I could remember, and I wasn't keen on having it changed, especially when it made festivals seem so much brighter. I hurried towards the main square, where all the important government buildings stood. That was probably the best place to look for Sio, or at least to ask where she was.

Completely ignoring the King's balcony, probably the only place I'd ever seen the King before, I searched the buildings for the business hall. It was where the master had received his official license for blacksmithing, and also where he met with other smiths to discuss complicated things like monopolies and new inventions, and how many apprentices each shop could take on each year. The building itself looked exactly like other government ones, its only distinguishing mark being the single grey banner above the entryway.

I entered, coming into a courtyard where many tied up their horses and talked non-business. Upon reaching the far side, I asked a man guarding the actual building entrance if he had seen Sio leave.

"No, Miss," he barked, trying desperately to sound official. I was very glad to be a blacksmith. "Miss Siofra should still be in the building. Shall I call her out, or do you have permission from a licensed artisan to enter?"

"Call her out, please."

I waited a moment while the guard relayed the request. He told me Sio would be out in a moment, and promptly decided to have a pleasant conversation. Not that I minded. Friends were a great thing to have.

"So," he began, looking up at me, "I never caught your name, even if I've seen you around before."

"I'm Ferria Noir, an apprentice blacksmith. But you probably could have guessed, right?" I flexed my biceps for him, chuckling.

The guard laughed with me, before trying to outdo me with his own mildly impressive muscles. Before long, we were striking macho poses left and right. My sides hurt from all the giggling, and I barely noticed when a hand came tapping on my shoulder.

"Ahem, Ferri!" said a familiar voice. I turned to see the mischievously glimmering eyes of Siofra Beul. "If you're going to request my presence, you could at least wait like you're desperate to see me."

The guard blushed and tried to return to his stiff, official pose, but kept stifling giggles and breaking down. I almost felt sorry for him.

"I've missed you so much," I said, smirking. Then I tousled Sio's short, red-brown hair and leaned down to not tower over everyone. "And so, business."

Sio raised an eyebrow. "Business? How rare."

"Yeah. Yury, that priest that I always run into in town, he's planning a festival."

"And?"

"He asked if you'd like to help plan. Your logistic skills really impressed him. Maybe I should hurry and get licensed, that way I can hire you for management before anyone else can."

Sio rolled her eyes. "You can't get a license until next year, Ferri. And where do you plan on getting funds? With all your volunteering, there's no way you could raise the money to buy your own shop."

Patting Sio's head, I retorted that I'd probably get married off before I bought my own shop. "The master's been hard at work finding boys that won't mind me being taller than them. But anyway, talk to Yury about that festival sometime." I started back through the courtyard, waving back at Sio. "And thanks for talking with me! You too, guard!" I winked, and then hooted with laughter as I strode back into the main square.

What would I do next?

Siofra Beul - Day one to Day two

I headed back into the department of municipal planning, my head spinning with ideas. A festival, hmm?

I had just finished writing and sealing reimbursement papers for those whose houses were devastated by the fire that had occurred at the temple. It was terribly drab work; planning a festival would be so much more exciting. I reached my office and sent a note to my boss asking for permission to plan the festival. Knowing that permission would be granted, I set straight to work. We could set up the festival down a street where the wreckage of the fire could still be visible, but the danger of the mess would be safely out of children’s ways. We could invite the businesses that suffered because of the fire to have the prime spots in the festival, and there could be games and performers and…

I planned the festival for the remaining hour and a half that was left of my work day. When I heard voices trailing down the hallway, I looked out the window toward the setting sun. It was time to go home.
I walked back to my small home two blocks away from the municipal planning building, kicking a small stone as I went.

--

A day later, after a few public announcements of the event had been sent out through various methods at record speed, the tents were set up, and people were flooding the festival’s street. I surveyed my work proudly, giving extra note in my own mind to the way the pendants that had been strung from housetop to housetop seemed to frame the destruction a block down. Who could look at that site, at those laborers working their tails off, without putting a few coins in a collection basket somewhere? Only the heartless.

I heard footsteps behind me, which is rather amazing considering all the people who were on the street, and I turned to see a face beaming up at me. It was a short, bald monk.
“I appreciate the effort that went into planning this," he said, "Thank you for helping to give our goddess a home again. May she brighten your ways.”

“Anything for the goddess,” I murmur.
Instead, he said, Brother! I know your hunger.
To this, the Wolf answered, Lo!

Sir Exelus Brothguard

"You will not die, Skarana! You will live, I will force this of you!" I growled, sending shockwaves in the water. My nephew and our commander-in-chief, Fellhorn, swam up to us.

"What happened, Exelus?"

"The Brothguard family has been attacked once again! This is the final straw! If those mermaids cannot be allies with us because that foolhardy 'queen' of that island is feeding them lies, then they have made an enemy they will regret for centuries!"

Fellhorn grabbed Skarana and headed back to the coven. "Fellhorn." He turned back to me. "Make sure the child is safe." He nodded, and took off.

I started towards the surface. It was a clear day in the sea, something I always hated. Restablishing the mental connection with Ezreal was easy enough. "I want to have word with the king."

"Something wrong, Sir?"

"Just get me in the same room with the king!" I growled, I was in no mood to deal with anyone, not even Ezreal, who I've known for almost his entire life.

"The king doesn't speak to different species who are not a part of his royal guard or an ambassador to their species. And we all know what happened the last time you tried to be an ambassador."

I was in no mood for trivial sayings from anyone. "Just get me an audience with the king! I'll be waiting in the town." And I severed the connection with him. It took a long time to make a lasting friendship with him without wanting to eat him. I remember the conversation we had when he had first met me.

He was the only land creature able to talk to me. It was a strange sensation at first, but I got used to it. I helped him through his life. Now it was time for him to repay me.

Spoiler! :
Sorry it's short. I don't have a lot of time on my hands, but I just wanted to get this out there.

~Luna|Day One
Later that night~

Spoiler! :
At Veer's request, I kept it child appropriate xD

Standing in my quarters staring at the fire, I think about the events that have transpired today, what was going to be done about it. What else were they doing over there experimenting on how to make human into the other creatures that be? Trying a hand at breeding them for their on personal uses? The thought had me feeling the almost uncontrollable urge to scream in rage. I may have my of keeping our forces strong, but I would never go as far as enslaving others to get ahead or gain more power. People who did such things didn't deserve a thing of what they took. They deserved to be skinned alive and dipped in acid until they choked on their own melted fluids filling there lungs.Maybe then they'll learn their lessons then. Seemed logical enough in my mind, but then, my mind was a tad bit warped.

I found myself pacing again, something of a habit that's formed over the years I've been here. Everyone knew when I was pacing to leave me be. The fact that some of my men were terrified of me certainly had something to do with it, but the were all loyal. Ragnar all but made sure of it. I don't know how, and I guessed it would probably be best left that way. The thought of him made me smile with pride. He'd been with me from the beginning, through everything. He had my back after the kind died, leaving me to rule with clue as to what the hell I was doing. I couldn't even tell up from down things were moving so fast then. Ragnar kept me grounded through it all, and in truth, I owed him my life. The only way I could see to repay was making him my right hand man.

As if one cue, I heard a knock on the door. "Commander Ragnar requests to see you."

"Send him in," I answer.

The door opens and a servant holds the door open as Ragnar walks past with a nod of thanks, his presence suddenly dominating the room. The servant boy stood just inside the room. "If that will be all, ma'a?"

"Yes, Ansgar," I look to him, noting the look of astonishment of me knowing his name plain on his face. "and you are released from your duties for the rest of the night. Go home and be with your other half, Isabella, I believe?"

He looked like he was ready to faint. "You are correct, but how did you know?"

Ragnar turned towards the servant with a look of displeasure that made him take a fearful step back. I walked over to the servant, casting Ragnar a look of reprimand. "Don't worry about him. He's a tab bit cranky. Go enjoy your night, and I expect you to here bright and early. Understood?"

He gave jubilant smile and gave a quick bow, nodding his head vigorously. "Yes ma'am and thank you so very much!"

He all but ran out of the room, closing the behind him. I turned towards Ragnar with a raised brow. "Still in a foul mood?"

One look at his crossed arms and brooding eyes said it all.

"You didn't have to scare to the young boy. He's done you no harm." I sigh.

"He spoke out of turn." he frowned.

"He's young and still has much to learn," I say counter. "which you know."

"Hm," is all he says.

"I have no doubt he will turn into a fine man, in fact," I smirk.

That catches his attention. He turns to me with an upraised brow. "Is that so?"

I smirk to myself at the look on his face and walk to stand in front of the blazing fire once more. "It is. Women will flock to him like moths to a flame."

"And you?" he comes to stand behind me, his body almost as hot as the fire. He must have come straight here from shifting. He smelled strongly of dark earth.

I turn my head sideways. "What of me?"

"Will you flock?" I felt his breath on my neck.

"And what business of yours is it?" I turn to face him, not realizing how close Ragnar actually was.

He yanked me into his arms, knotting one hand in my hair and kissing me like I belonged to him. My lip parted as I kissed him back, wrapping my arms around him and pulling him closer. I did belong to him. Mind, Body, and Soul. Lords the man tasted to good it left me at a loss for air as he lifted me off of the floor and me harder into the wall.

"You're mine," he growled. "and only mine."

"So you say," I reply breathlessly.

He turned with me in his arms and threw me down on the bed, then crawled on top of me.

"It would seem that you need a reminder of that." he began pulling off the armor I still had on, when there was a knock on the door.

We both sighed. It was sometimes easy to put him in a bad mood, which he now seems to be. He didn't like to be interrupted during times like this. Ragnar moved off of the bed and went to answer. I followed behind him.

He yanked the door open, snapping,"What?"

I rolled my eyes. Him and his grumpy moods sometimes amused me.

"M-m-m-" the boy stuttered, but Ragnar interrupted.

"Spit it out, boy," Ragnar snapped. "we don't have all night."

That's when I stepped around Ragnar with a sigh. "Yes messenger?"

He hesitated for a moment, looking back at Ragnar. The boy looked like he wanted to wet himself, and I wouldn't blame him. Ragnar was very big, very intimidating Man. He's a warrior through and through, and a very fierce one at that. He was quite the magnificent sight on the battlefield. He's infamous for his blood lust, and he was feared for it.

"Pay no heed to him," I step out of my quarters. "he's in a foul mood right now. Has been since earlier today. What is it?"

Since he could no longer see Ragnar, the color came back to his face and he was able to speak. He handed me what looked like letter. "A message for the Queen, General Darko."

I had any and all things concerning the Queen sent directly to me. The Queen out me in charge of everything until further notice.

"Very well then," I nod. "will this be all?"

"Yes, General," the boy answered.

"Then you are free to go." I turn and close the door behind me.

Ragnar hoisted me up and deposited me back on the bed to finish where we had been interrupted. He had my clothes off in record time. He kissed his way up my body, kissing my neck. I was just starting to enjoy myself when something caught my eye. The message I tossed on the nightstand. I picked it up, and upon inspection, I sigh. Ragnar wasn't going to like this.

"Something wrong?" his lips stopped the pleasant things they were doing.

"This message has the Codo seal on it." I looked at him

His nostrils flared in distaste. If he wasn't in a foul mood then, he would be now. I broke the seal, giving it a quick scan before turning it over to Ragnar, who upon reading it, crumpled in his hand as he stood. Then he threw it down, and exploded.

"Does he think us fools?!" his voice boomed. "How dare he?"

I pulled on my robe and walked over to him, laying a hand on his arms, and then turned to look at me, a storm brewing in his eyes.

"You need to keep a calm head about you, Ragnar," I warn. "Losing your temper will do us no good. Especially if you'll be seeing his face."

The look of utter astonishment. "You're actually agreeing?"

"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I?" I ask.

"Because it is a trap and you would be foolish to walk into it." Ragnar growls.

I walked up to him, looking into his eyes. "You would be wise to remember who you are talking to."

Ragnar snarls at me, huffing like certaurs are nottorious for when they're pissed off. He turned, opening the door before looking back at me. "As you wish, your highness."

The door slammed, the force reverberating through the entire room. Great. Turning the pieve of paper that what ruined what would have been an absolutely wonderful night, I read hte message once again;

'I want to meet with you, we have things to discuss. Bring two ships and we will meet in the middle of the ocean dividing us. We'll meet on a single ship with no one on but two guards each, not including the captain. But there's one thing I must know, will you bring the meeting ship or shall I?"

I pulled out a piece of paper to to write my reply.

"As you wish. You want to meet, you bring the meeting ship, and if I suspect foul play for even a moment, i'll rip you into pieces with my bare hands. See you then."

Sir Polius Alexander (King of Codonomo) – End of Day One to Middle of Day Two

I was greeted by some of the scientists running the lab as I entered it. They escorted me, along with two of my guards, to a large set of double doors in the back of the room. I almost hated coming here, for the sole fact that if anyone caught me, I'd be removed as king immediately. Well, maybe if these people weren't stupid enough to believe everything I say.

"Sir, you should really put on some armor or something." One of my guards told me.

I patted my sheathed katana at my side, "I'll be fine. Just see if any strays are there before I go in."

The guards nodded and burst through the door. I stepped in quietly after them and observed the dimly lit arena. Cages lined every corner, and candles were placed at short intervals so one could only see so far into the distance. I shifted my gaze to floor next to me to see the mutilated body of one of the scientists.

I sighed, "I hate losing one of my men," because you're so hard to replace, "One must've escaped it's cage. You two go look for it, I'll keep look around here in case it scurries by."

"Yes sir."

As they took off, I turned back to the living scientist, "Shut the door, I don't want it getting out. We'll knock when we're ready to leave."

He was about to respond when his jaw suddenly dropped and his eyes widened. Taking a step back, he raised a shaking hand and pointed behind me. I swiftly pulled out my katana and spun around, just in time to see a massive elf rushing towards me on all fours.

"Might want to lock those doors now." I said as the scientist obeyed my orders.

I stood my ground and held my katana in front of me, waiting for the creature to get close enough. My grip tightened on the hilt of the blade, but slowly relaxed as I watched the beast get tackled from the side by one of my guards. The other followed close behind, planting his sword into the head of the creature the moment he reached it. I sheathed my katana and approached them.

"I was about to kill it, you know." I told them when I reached the bloody scene.

"To be honest, we didn't even see you there. We just heard the thing running and knocked it over." The one who'd stabbed it said.

"Yeah, the thing's heavy as a damn brick wall." The one who'd tackled it, still on the floor, said.

"Stop complaining. Find the cage it broke out of, and there might be others. If you find yourself in trouble, get out, we'll send reinforcements. But make sure the cells are actually secure this time."

The guard rose from the ground, with a struggle, and mumbled, "Yes, sir."

"I have a feeling I'm needed outside, report to me when you're done here." I told them.

After a nod to show their understanding we head our separate ways. I knocked on the door and it popped open almost immediately.

"Oh thank goodness you're alright. Did you get it?" The scientist asked as I passed him.

"Indeed we did. Now keep a close watch on those boys in case they run back screaming."

"Oh and Ezreal," I said as he turned back around, "Would you mind joining me on a short journey out to sea tomorrow? I could use your help when I meet the Queen."

"It would be my pleasure, your majesty." he said with a small bow, before taking off.

A small smirk touched my lips as he left. It's always good to see my hard work paying off.

* * *

I woke up to letter that had been slipped under my door. I knew exactly what it was the moment I saw the seal; Hrothgar. I quickly opened it up and read the contents.

"As you wish. You want to meet, you bring the meeting ship, and if I suspect foul play for even a moment, I'll rip you into pieces with my bare hands. See you then."

I smirked. I knew it. But you have no idea who you're messing with, dear. I took the letter and tossed it into the fire burning by the front of my room. I threw on a large coat and stormed out of my door, immediately greeted by two of my guards. As we walked, I signaled for one to come closer.

"Go to the docks and prepare three ships for me. Get a group of Watchmen on two of them, but have just a captain on one. We'll be setting sail in a couple of hours." I told him.

"Yes sir." He said, taking off in the opposite direction.

"You," I said, motioning to the other one, "Stick with me, we're going to get commander Yury."

We made our way outside of the castle gates, almost a rare occurrence with me, but the people would look at it in a good light. There were much festivities going on, especially for a town that just heard they might be going to war. When I reached the town center, where I saw floats being built and children frolicking around, decided to make my presence known.

I approached a large girl that was working hard on nailing some things together, who was with her smaller, more casually dressed friend. "Greetings citizens, may I ask what's going on here?"

The small one turned to me and began, "Oh, we're organizing a fes-"

I tilted my head and looked at her.

"Oh my, you're the king!" she exclaimed, her friend quickly spinning around.

"Hm, I am aren't I," I smiled at her, "And who would you lovely ladies be?"

They looked at one another. "I'm Ferria, and this is Siofra. We're, building floats for the festival." the taller one said.

"Hm," I pondered the thought, "You kids organize all this yourself?"

"Yeah! Well, it's was actually the head priests idea. But he put us in charge of putting everything together. And we'd love to see the king attending." Siofra said with a smile.

I raised an eyebrow, "Head priest, you say. Well, I won't be around for a bit, but I'll be sure to stop by if I have some time later on." I held out both of my pinky fingers, "I promise."

Both of them looked between me and my fingers, but shook them happily. After a quick nod I started off, but stopped when I heard a familiar voice from behind me.

"My king."

"Ah, Yury," I turned around to see the priest in his formal robes, "Just the man I was looking for. Come, we have much to discuss."

* * *

I stood atop the deck of the ship as we lowered the plank for the Queen to cross over. Yury and Ezreal stood quietly behind me as she boarded joined the deck along with two of her soldiers.

I extended my hand, "Two other people on board, excluding the captain, just as promised."

She glanced at my hand suspiciously, but shook it firmly, almost harder than I expected, and said, "I'm General Darko. I'm here in place of the Queen."

"Come, join us down in the meeting room. I've prettied it up just for our situation. With a nice long table and chairs for all." They shot me a look of distrust. "Don't worry, there's no one below deck," I drew an X over my heart with my finger, "Cross my heart."

I led the way down the steps, and everyone else followed behind. I took my seat at one end of the table, as the General sat at hers. While my soldiers took their seats at either side of me, hers remained standing. I shrugged, suit yourselves.

I pulled out a piece of paper out and slid it over to the General, "This is the contract I've draw up. Please, read it out loud, General."

A touch of distaste came with her words. "I hereby relinquish ownership of this island, and bestow the power of the title on to King Polius Alexander."

The large guard that was with her shot me a deadly look, and I smirked.

Next, I pulled out a quill and tossed it to her, "Sign this contract, or all of your people will die."

Wilmer Buell | Day Two

The sanguine waves jumped in the salty breeze, reveling in the clear skies and generous sun. Their backs flashed like newly minted metal and their bottoms were alive with bright blues and golds, and their crests were frothy with foam. The small line of sand on the shore was mostly clear of debris around this time of year, and was warm to the touch, and swallowed up the treading feet walking across it before it spat it back out as they lifted for another step. The day was optimistically beautiful, despite the roar of a Minotaur that ripped through the calls of the birds.

Wilmer Buell galloped towards the tussle on his skittish gelding, pulling up short of coming in range of the beast. The horse's eyes went wild and it stomped its feet and snorted when it saw the Minotaur, and Wilmer yanked the black reins back impatiently. It grunted and continued to stomp anxiously, but Wilmer decided to ignore it and shouted, "Get that beast under wraps! You! Go get the chains!"

The man he shouted at scattered to one of the crates squatting just off of the shore. When he left the Minotaur roared again, sending Willy's horse squealing and backing up, which Wilmer rightfully dug his heels into with agitation. He watched as his crew struggled to secure the beast that had somehow loosened its bindings, peering under the brim of his hat as it was brought to its knees as the men pulled on chains and cracked their whips.

When the muzzle was fastened around its head, Wilmer nodded and the men began to drag the creature up the shore, towards an awaiting crate. His attention quickly was turned back towards the ship, his cargo ship, which swayed peacefully in the waves. Men scurried to and fro, carrying crates, rolling barrels and leading creatures and beasts off and on his personal dock. He strutted the gelding down the center of the dock, which was luckily just wide enough for his workers to dart out of the way of him and not fall off into the water.

His attention had been drawn by a small cluster shuffling dreadfully across the dock. He pulled his horse to the side in front of them, blocking their path and causing them to lean in on each other. He looked down on them, the fluffy feather adorned on his hat bobbing in the wind.

"Line them up. I want to have a look at them." He said lightly.

The elves were handled until they were in a neat line. Wilmer slid off of his horse with a flourish, one of the men that had been leading the group of elves grabbing the reins of the horse behind him. Despite the warm weather, Wilmer never failed to wear his heavy black cloak fastened around his neck, or the thick red cloth of his shirts intricately designed with gold accents; he almost looked a little too ridiculous surrounded by heaving, sweating and dingy men. Either he did not notice this, or he didn't care, because his head was held high and his mouth tweaked at a friendly smile under his fancy mustache.

His slightly heeled boots clunked on the wood of the dock as he walked across the line of elves, looking at them out of the corner of his eye. He stopped at the end of the line, where a sturdy male elf stood with his head up and his chest bare, exposing a decent amount of muscle mass. Wilmer conjured a horsewhip out of his cloak and pressed it against the elf's chin, moving its head from side to side. Its mouth was bound, but the elf glowered down at Wilmer with a seething hatred and indignation. But he felt none of its heat.

"Strong, capable, healthy... yes, yes..." Wilmer mumbled. Suddenly turning to the elf next to him with a loud "Ah!" he peered into the female's face with exquisite interest. "Wonderful!" he exclaimed under his breath.

She was short for an elf, but average looking in appearance. A significant bulge told Wilmer that she was pregnant.

With a gloved hand he plucked off the cloth wrapped around her mouth and she proceeded to spit onto his cheek. He froze, the cloth still gripped in his hand, and then he tipped his head back and laughed. "Feisty, too!" He shouted to the men behind him, who chuckled.

"Who's the chap who got this one? Was it Edward again?" He laughed and turned to the man closest to him. "Remind me to give that boy something extra.

I'd say she's about three months due time. Eh, men?" The men on the docks chuckled again. Then he turned and spoke to the pregnant elf for the first time. "And who do I have the pleasure of this company?"

She sneered and growled out some unpleasurable words. Wilmer laughed once again, like she was the most entertaining person he had ever met, and declared, "I think I'll call you Ruth, then!"

Suddenly the elf to his left, the one he had previously inspected, lunged towards him. Wilmer stepped back as the chains around the elf caught and held him back, and the men quickly worked on securing him further. He struggled, cursing and swearing every name and God he knew, until he was pushed down to his knees.

Wilmer ignored the other elf as he was dragged off. He smiled down towards the female elf, who was baring her teeth, then turned towards his horse, listing off instructions to whoever could hear.

"Give Ruth here the cot behind my car, and she shall be given three meals a day. She'll need a warm bath and an extra blanket and a book if she requests it- to keep her occupied." He swung onto his gelding, taking the reins from the man holding them, and gave a charming smile down to Ruth. He tipped his voluminous hat and dug his heels into his horse, galloping off of the dock to attend to other things. The group of elves, now minus the one who acted out and Ruth who was being led off separately, continued down its shuffling path.

Luna|Day Two

Standing at the docks, I waited as the my men finished readying the boats. They moved with a quiet efficiency. I trained my men damn good. I smiled. Soon we'd be on our way to get what ever the hell it was with the king over with. I started thinking about how mad Ragnar was last night and how the king had inadvertently ruined our night together, and how I screwed it up even more. Looking for Ragnar, I began walking along the docks but didn't spot him. Officer Anton calls my attention.

"General Darko," he comes to a stop in front of me. "the ships are ready to depart."

"Very well then," I nod, "Anything else to report?"

"Commander Ragnar is already aboard," he answered with a slight frown when he saw the look on my face, but didn't say anything.

I dismissed him and made my way onto the boat where I found Ragnar at the helm of the ship. My heart flipped in my chest as I walked over to him. As I got closer, he looked up and his eyes met with mine, then met with the back of my head as I turned in the other direction. God damn coward. I went to my room and fiddled with things to keep myself busy instead facing Ragnar like I know I should have. I instead focused on the travel ahead and the meeting that was to take place when I heard Ragnar booming voice from above, "All hands on deck! We've got somewhere to be."

And so we were off. I flopped down on the bed with a sigh. This was going to be a long trip.

**************

I stayed in my quarters the entire time, and let me tell you, it was a long trip. A very long trip. I was just pulling on my swords when there was a knock at the door and it opened. There had only been one man in the entire kingdom kingdom who had the balls to do something like that, and the thought made my heart race again. I took my time finishing up, keeping my back to him while staring out of the window.

"Have we reached our destination, officer?" I ask as I turn around, knowing full well who it is.

What stops me short is how he is when I find myself almost chest to with him. I clear my throat and walk around him towards the door, only to have him block my way. I tilted my head to look up at him, since he still had a full head in height on me, and we stared each other down.

He certainly looked like he was still angry at me. Anton's voice carried down the hall as he came. "General Darko...."

His words died down as he saw us, and he slowly backed away to give us privacy.

"I took you for a lot things," Ragnar started. "but I never took you for a coward.”

My temper almost had me slapping him across the face. He might have been an ass about it but I realized he was right, and the only reason was angry was because that fact hurt coming from him. He turned to take his leave. Anton saddled up beside me. "they've lowered the plank for us, General."

"Then let's get this the hell over with." Before I rip someone else's throat out and decide call it a day

*********

Making our way over the plank to be greeted by the king and his two guards. He extended his hand. "Two other people on board, excluding the captain, just as promised."

I looked down at his hand. I had no reason what so ever trust it, but I shook his hand anyway. "I'm General Darko. I'm here in place of the Queen."

"Come, join us down in the meeting room. I've prettied it up just for our situation. With a nice long table and chairs for all." he says, and we give a look that shows us what we thin of that idea.

"Don't worry, there's no one below deck," he drew an X over my heart with his finger, "Cross my heart."

X marks the spot I put my sword through. Thanks for making it easier to do so when the time comes. He led the way down the steps, and everyone else followed behind. The King took a seat at one end of the table, as I sat at mine. While his soldiers took their seats at either side of him, mine remained standing, flanking my chair. The King shrugged. The motion drew my eyes to one of his two guards, and I all saw was red. The King had the balls to sit an Elf he stole from my people in front of me? Ragnar and Anton took a step closer to me. I was so pissed my skin felt like it had been set on fire. I took a deep breath and looked back at the King.

He pulled out a piece of paper and slid it over to me, "This is the contract I've draw up. Please, read it out loud, General."

A touch of distaste came with my words as I read, "I hereby relinquish ownership of this island, and bestow the power of the title on to King Polius Alexander."

Now I was even hotter than before, but I didn't let it show. I saw Ragnar shoot an ugly look at the King, and the ass smirked at him.

He pulled out a quill and tossed it to me, "Sign this contract, or all of your people will die."

Ragnar shot out of his seat so fast, everyone blinked in shock, and I moved to stand in front of him and put a hand on his chest before he tried to chop off the King's head.

The king raised his hand, “Please, it was just a joke. Now, can we get on to some real bargaining?”

“If you’d like to do it with your tongue intacted, then I suggest you watch your mouth,” I say. “My commander had been in a foul mood as of late, and he would love nothing better then something soft and mushy to rip apart or impale.”

Thinking about what Ragnar would do to him made me smile just the tiniest bit. Ragnar might despise the king even more than I did, though I could only fathom why.

“Can’t expect violence to solve everything, can we?” The king asked with a smirk, before putting on a dark expression, “Now we both know what I want. What is it exactly that you want?”

“I want you to stop coming onto our lands and steal our people,” I nodded to the Elf standing to his right. “to stop stealing our Elves and using them to do your bidding like slaves.”

The king frowned, “Steal your elves? These elves have always been on our island. Now, how we use them might be a whole other discussion, but I don’t believe I recall anything about stealing.”

That was bullshit and he knew it. He’d always been a greedy man from what i’d heard. Half of his men hated him, and I can take a quick guess as to why. He thinks he’s better than everyone, which means he’ll underestimate everyone, which will in turn be his downfall.

“Oh right,” I nod like I understand. “So the four armed thing of an Elf we got back from your lands did that to himself?”

“As I said, how we use them is another discussion. But back on topic, is that what you want? The elves you believe are yours back?”

“You mean the Elves I know you stole from us, including the one standing by your side like a lap dog?” I turn to look at him with a cold smile. “Yes. I also want you to sign a contract stating that you’ll keep your greedy hands off of our people.”

The king shook his head, “I don’t think we’re very clear on our terms here. It wouldn't be fair of me to keep my hands off your people if I’m in charge of them.”

Like a greedy dog with a bone

“So you admit you stole them?” my fingers itched as I placed them on the twin blades I had on at my sides.

“Forget about the elves woman,” the king exclaimed, raising his voice, “I mean your island. Those people. They are the ones I want to be in charge of.”

Ragnar drew his sword and pointed it at the King. “You piece of filth! You call us here to talk and then you raise your voice? You might as well be the end of a horse's ass if you think anyone in our kingdom would willingly serve you.”

I almost laughed at that, and then realized he still he his blade drawn. He still looked ready to charge, but held his ground. I touched his arm and he put his blade away.

The king fixed his gaze on Ragnar, “If you honestly think you can kill me here and get your little general off the ship alive, you have another thing coming.” He turned back to me, “Let’s try this one last time. I want your island, what is it you want?”

“I told you what I want, and you’re not getting the island, because it’s not mine to give, you idiot. The queen is the only one who has the power and authority to do that, and you’ll never get that close to her.” I sighed like I think he’s stupid and smile.

The king sighed, “You know,” he slowly rose from his seat, “I sent a letter to the Queen. I didn't ask for any of this middle-man bullshit.” He fixed his gaze on me, “If you have no authority, then you have no business with me. You may leave the ship undisturbed, but as of tomorrow, if I do not receive word from your Queen, I will go under the assumption that war has been declared.”

“Oh no,” I shake my head. “You misunderstand. I may not have the power or authority to hand you over an island you don’t deserve, since you don’t deserve the one you have right now, but I certainly have the authority to do anything and everything else, so considered war declared right now, since you want to act like a greedy little child.”

I never got how one person could be so greedy. It always baffled me. They just take and take and take, and no one would be able to do anything about it. Not this time. Not even in hell.

“So be it. Now we can part ways with dignity,” he placed his hand on his sheathed weapon, and his guard followed suit, “Or we can begin immediately.”

I scoffed a laugh and he raised an eyebrow. “Careful, your majesty. I wouldn't wanna win the war before it’s even started and put you to shame in front of your men.”

The anger that burned in his eyes as they narrowed almost imperceptibly, had a wicked smile spreading across my face, then went flat. “I’m a woman who commands an army of thousands of men, your majesty, and I had to cut every single one of them down to get their loyalty, respect, and trust. I worked damn hard to get where I am. You had everything handed to you. I didn't. I’m not a woman you want to fuck with, because it won’t end well for you, and that’s a promise. I hope you’re ready. I sure as hell am.”

He smirked like an ass, and I rolled my eyes. He needed to be brought down a peg. He didn't know me very well, so he didn't know how I dealt with people like him. He’d find out soon enough.

Stavina Elwin ~ Day 2 - in the morning to the late afternoon -

War.

My eyes flew open, my heart was beating a hundred miles a minute and sweat beaded at my forehead. I slowly calmed myself down and took my time gathering my hooves off of the bedding I slept on each night. Sometimes I managed to change my bottom half for night time so that I could sleep like my parents do, on a soft bedding above the ground, but not being use to it, I often end up on the ground with the blankets that act as my bed. Lately I've just been to lazy to care or try.

I stretch my legs galloping small circles around my spacious room. I tend to keep everything I own against the walls in order to give me the space to roam without changing my legs. This is the real me after all. I sigh after I've stretched out and trot to my closet; what I wear is important to me. It says something about who I'm going to be today. The men I work with know this, they always watch as I approach checking to see if I'm wearing green or black, yellow or white. Each color represents something to me, and in turn, to them. I pick out a silver plated shirt that shines when the sun hits it. I smiled. War. I've been thinking about it the past few days, almost anticipating it with all of the tensions between the two islands. I knew it was just a matter of very short time. But of course this was just like any other anticipation I've had in the past few years, sometimes they turn out to be serious, other times I get too frightened by my dreams and take them into reality.

I try not to think of dreams as I set the shirt down and go for a quick bath at the stream. I trotted to the exit of my home or room--I live modestly in a one room cabin-- greeted by the fresh air and the morning birds chirping. I smile uncontrollably at the white fluffy clouds on top of the striking blue sky. I stayed a moment, allowing this whole world to engulf me, I loved these moments, the little things, the air, the wind, the sky, the trees, the animals flying around, and roaming about. I could sing! I didn't though, and continued on my way to the stream.

This was a private land that I purchased saving up for three years. I use to live on the castle, it was nice, but it was stifling, and I always felt watched. Here even if I was watched I wouldn't care, mainly because it was my property and any trespasser would face me, but also because I felt free. I felt completely free. I started to speed into a steady gallop not stopping until my hooves hit the cool fresh water of the rushing stream. I played in the water for my 'bath' feeling cleansed just by being in the crystal like water. For a moment, I changed into a full human just so that I could swim. I wasn't worried being bare, I wasn't worried about anything here. I wondered if this water was a secret healing balm, and I was glad I managed to snatch this place before anyone else could get it.

After soaking for a while, I was back to a Centaur and trotting back home. The sun was now higher in the sky and slightly scorching and I knew it was time to get to work. I dressed quickly, and fixed my hair by brushing it painfully and tying the dark curls back. No time to be fancy. After eating some homegrown berries for breakfast I rushed off to town, and to what I did to make a living. To the Queens castle. Galloping was quite empowering, I whizzed by the Forrest that I called home, into more of the Elves territory making sure not to slow down any, and continued on till I reached the city. Before going to the castle I had to visit with some friends and visit with my parents, it was a routine thing, mainly because I missed them, but I told myself it's because they need me. I watched the world through my eyes, seeing the families laughing in groups, children running recklessly in the streets, and other Centaurs. I pause at them, looking to see how they act. I have only one real Centaur friend, and a Centaur leader that I report to, the Queen's right hand man.

He demands respect, but will not disrespect. He's a noble, and he acts like it. I simply am someone who have worked my way up. Worked hard, learned skills, protected the castle, and earned my right to be able to pass the skills down to others. I do love my students, and the job, but part of me still feels stifled. I shook my head and turned away from the group in front of me. As I turned I caught my friend galloping ahead, and caught up with him.

"Rynold! Wait!" I said, breathing deeply. He stops for a moment and turns grinning.

"Don't you look a little....bright?" He raises an eyebrow. I laughed.

"Bright?! That's all you have to say?!" I tried to sound offended. He laughed now, shaking his head. I smiled at him, "It's my battle clothes. Like armor." He took another look and nodded.

"Got it! But don't go starting a war now just so that you can fight, Ina." He said smirking at me. I laughed and shoved him.

"Me? Do you even know me, Ry? I am strictly planning for world domination, nothing else." He stopped for a moment and then we erupted into meaningless laughter.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
It was nice going into town and seeing my parents, and Ry. I knew that I'd be back tomorrow having similar conversations. Hopefully tomorrow Wilmer wouldn't have been busy with his dirty business so that we could have a chat. He was a funny one as well. I entered into the castle grounds, accepted in without question. I walked towards the only place I felt comfortable in, the Soldier's training ground. There, my--well, the Queen's men were fighting each other tentatively, practicing the skills they had and some of the tricks I taught them. I stayed where I was for a moment, just watching. One of them, Martin, noticed me and stopped fighting, his opponent thought he had won and yelled a "Yes!" into the sky while the rest of them all stopped and waited for me to speak. The celebrating person, Jarin stopped soon and stared at me. I smiled. I slowly walked up to Martin and took the sword from Jarin. Martin's eyes widened. He knew he had done something wrong, but I wasn't going to tell him, until he fought me. I stroke first, aiming for his heart, he blocked it out of fear and without strength or force, I easily turned over it and stroke again, he was moving back, I moved forward.
"Let me tell you all," I said as I inched towards him "one of the most important things to remember when fighting," my sword slammed into his armor, I made sure it would not cut in, "once again, never, ever, ever," I went for another blow but he was starting to pay attention and caught me, "ever, ever, ever, take your eyes off of your opponent, not for anyone, or anything."
He continued back up as we fought, successfully blocking each of my blows, until his feet stumbled on loose gravel and he fell to the ground. I placed the tip of the sword on his neck, "Don't forget it Martin, it could cost you your life." my voice was soft. He nodded vigorously and I took away the sword. "Now, who's ready to train?" There was a small rumble among the men, most were just ending their teenage years or in their mid twenties. "Who is ready to fight!" I yelled this time, and a roar came from the men. Martin included. And I grinned, this was my favorite part.
We always started with sword fighting, one of the most important forms of fighting that included human contact. Then next we would practice body fighting, and then archery. After the three major ones I usually trained the men or women specifically with whatever they needed help with. As I was doing this I noticed that Ragnar had not come to give me any criticism on my training techniques, or give me any directions. And the day before, he came, but was in such a foul mood he accused everything I was doing and then walked away. But at least he came. I wondered where he was and tempted to step out of my place and go looking for him. Usually I'd run into him anyways and be able to ask him questions about how I should treat certain situations and training aspects. My whole life's been so routine it just seemed so strange for certain things not to happen or for people's personalities to change.
"Officer Stavina!" Someone was panting and rushing towards me as quickly as possible. Nilla, Nilla was a friend, she was also one of the maids in the castle. I hated that she called me that, "Officer" was not even an official title, it really just meant, "trainer" in a more fancy way.
"Yes Nilla?" I asked walking to meet her so she didn't have to run anymore. She looked very frightened and she was quite drenched in sweat.
"Oh, Ina, I don't know, so much has happened! Did you know that they say the Queen ripped a man's throat out? Or that Codonomo has been stealing our Elves for years?! And now the Queen has gone to sea! It's just so much! I was told to tell you to prepare. To stop teaching just sword fighting and look into the most dead-deadliest weapons, to just heighten everything, sharpen everything and even pre-prepare yourself!" I tried to keep my face calm through-out her whole statement, but I felt my hands trembling by my side.
"Thank you for letting me know," I told her and she nodded, and started to leave. I turned towards the soldiers my heart beating as it did in the morning. War.
Is it really happening?
"Everyone, stop fighting!" I steadied my shaking voice, I wasn't afraid, I was excited. Finally something different was happening, something real.
"We'll be fighting the enemy soon enough." I added with a smile.
I believe in that, which is not seen.
I call it truth, faith, hope, life.
Sir Polius Alexander (King of Codonomo) - Day Two
“I’m a woman who commands an army of thousands of men, your majesty, and I had to cut every single one of them down to get their loyalty, respect, and trust. I worked damn hard to get where I am. You had everything handed to you. I didn't. I’m not a woman you want to fuck with, because it won’t end well for you, and that’s a promise. I hope you’re ready. I sure as hell am.” The general said.
I smirked and watched them as the left the ship. Yuri, Ezreal, and I headed up to the top of the ship and raised the plank connecting our ships. The general stared me down as our ships parted and we went our seperate ways.
I waved to them as the left, and whispered to myself, "You brought this on yourself."
I turned to Ezreal and said, "Looks like you did a good job. Tell Brothguard his assistance was much appreciated, and that he should join us in the castle when we return. We have much to discuss."
"Of course, sir." he said, as I turned to Yuri.
"You did excellent as well. If you won't be busy with anything, I have mission for you tomorrow. See me as soon as you can if you'll do it, otherwise I'll get another watchman."
He grunted his usual response.
I nodded to them both and headed up to the captain, signaling for him to take us home. Oh so much fun to be had when we return.
We reached the docks shortly before evening and both Ezreal and Yuri immediately took off. I was left with two soldiers at my side as escorts. I was dead set on heading back to the castle when I heard noise in the distance and remembered that we had a festival going on. I guess no one would mind the king stopping by for a bit.
I passed the roads and alleys of jolly citizens dancing and drinking and cheering and doing all the merry things citizens do suring festivals. Some even stopped me to show their appreciation for my services. Soon I'll be the one asking for your services. I was stopped suddenly when a familiar face shown through the masses. It was the girl I'd bumped into earlier that day.
"Hello again, Miss." I said to her, nodding a bit.
She turned around."Hello, Sir- Oh! Your Highness! Pleasure seeing you again."
"Pleasure's all mine, it must be fate that we meet again, no?"
"Um, well." She scratched her head. "I suppose so. Was there something you needed? Because I need to tune my Lute."
"Hm," I frowned, "I don't think there'll be much time for that in the near future. I got some... bad news today."
She tilted her head inquiringly. "Oh? I'm sorry to hear that, Your Highness. But you know, I really must-"
"Would you like to join the Soldiers?" I cut her off.
The girl gawked for a moment before recovering her senses. "Y-you're asking me to join the Soldiers? Why, Sir, I'm not sure what to say. How long until the services are, you know, needed?"
"Hm," interesting question, "Well, it was declared today that we're going to war with our sister island. I was about to announce it, but we'll be shipping people out as soon as tomorrow. New recruits, however, would be trained to defend the island."
I watched as her expression hardened, and wondered what exactly a normal citizen would do in this situation. "Well, Your Highness," she stammered, "I can't very well say no, not when you've asked me like this. But..."
I plastered on a smile, "Oh, I didn't mean to put that kind of pressure on you. Please, take your time to think about it. And if you happen to see your other friend, ask her as well. I believe you'll both be very useful in the ranks."
"No, no," she started, "I'll join, of course I will. Any good citizen would fight for their king. And I'll ask Sio, naturally. Um... but one really important question, Sire."
"Ask away."
She smiled and laughed, though I couldn't quite figure out why. "May I help with the army's blacksmiths too?"
"Well of course. We don't have many in that trade, so you'll be very valuable."
"Oh, thank you so much, Sire!" She curtsied excitedly. "And I hope I'm not being rude by leaving so suddenly, but I really do have to tune my lute now. The children are waiting!"
"Oh no, I'm sorry for keeping you. Go on and enjoy yourself, there won't be many days like this in the future."
By then, the girl had already disappeared into the crowd. Her voice drifted back. "Enjoy the festival, Your Highness!"
My face recovered its solemn expression as I watched the people swarm about. No one noticed the king unless the king noticed them first. Maybe I should make a habit of visiting this place more often. I turned to my guards and signaled that we were heading back to the castle. With an uncommon swiftness, I took the emptiest roads to avoid other people. And all the while, I wondered whether or not I should announce the war tonight.
* * *
I sat alone in my throne room with the fingers of one hand wrapped around a glass while the others rubbed my forehead. The still room swung before me and I struggled to keep my footing on the flat floor. Thoughts raced through my mind as I realized I wasn't going anywhere tonight, and a king that looked hungover was better than one who looked drunk.
I took another swig of my drink and fresh thoughts burned into the back of my mind. I thought about the people, and the war. I thought about the island, and the creatures. I thought about the money, and the power. I thought about the power.
"Why- why bother asking people when you can threaten them instead?"
Tons of cowering! Plus your name in the summer programme. A custom-designed banner. A cabin at Camp Half-Blood. Two shrines. I'll even throw in a Kymopoleia action figure.
