Name (nickname optional): Aquarius Draco (Aqua or Water Dragon)
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler! :
Dragon form Image
Whenever he's out of the water, he's wearing a light blue komono with oceanic patterns. Under the komono, he's wearing a brown shirt and pants to match. His hair is brown, skin parchment pale, skinney as a rail, slightly muscular but not enough to be considered strong, eyes as green as seaweed, and five-foot eleven in height. His dragon form is capable of swimming through rivers and oceans, but greatly incapable of swimming in shallow water.
Background: His name was in honor of his Zodiac sign. He doesn't know much of his original parents, so he's not as proud as most think of him. He was raised by humans who lived close to the river where they found his egg. Growing up, he's learned to swim and live off the land. His adoptive parents have been deceased for a year now, but he's still working on the farm and willing to fight when asked to.
Other: Because he was raised by humans, he has no sense in pride or greed. What keeps him in touch with his dragon roots is the seemingly natural ability to swim and shapeshift from human to dragon. He also carries a small pearl with him at all times. It's small enough for him to hide on his person, but he always sleep with it in his pillow since as far as he can remember. It allows him to purify water and move it to his will.
Spoiler! :

Name (nickname optional): Pelleas Lockenhart (Pell for a nickname)

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Spoiler! :
Image

Background: Pelleas was the bastard son between the master mercenary Fol Sharden and the elven enchantress , neither of whom wanted the boy. The only reason his mother allowed herself to birth him was the intense radiance of magical energy he emanated. From the very beginning, Pelleas reeked of an eerily powerful magic aura, but struggled to tap into his own power. What little spells he could cast happened once out of every ten.. and never if he was even the slightest bit tired or hungry. However, when it happened, when something inside him clicked, his magic came gushing out like a waterfall.

Over the course of the next three years,he lived with his mother in a tower isolated in the middle of a jungle. Every now and then, his father would gallop in. He filled Pelleas' mind with wondrous tales of his many adventures. His father told of times where he served Kings, Spirits and even Gods as a mercenary.

It was on the last week before his fifteenth birthday when a Fensworthian squire came to his mother's tower with news about his father. He was in an under-the-table contract with Ilyria's Duke Fensworth to ensure his protection during a trip to a nearby county, when a team of assassins led by an unknown mage attacked the Duke's caravan. His father was reported to have fought the wizard to his very last breath, before taking a fireball meant for the Duke. This bought him enough time to escape, but meant his father's death.

Enraged by this news, Pelleas left his mother's home and set out. He didn't know where he was going, or what to do, but he knew he was angry. The only thing he did know was the name of the group his father had been working with; The Grey Ghosts.

Other He's been an apprentice to Harold of the Grey Ghosts, working on channeling small bits of his magic into healing effects and defensive constructs

Name (nickname optional): Harold Grey
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler! :
Image

Background: Born to Marlene and Derrick Grey, two librarians at the Royal Academy. Has three siblings, Marlon, Sarah, and Earl. Like all the Grey children, they grew up in the library and were encouraged by their parents to read. Marlon, who would later go on to command the famous mercenary group known as the Grey Ghosts, preferred to read military history. Sarah, on the other hand, preferred archeology and ancient history. Harold, in contrast to them both, preferred studying medical journals as well as spell books. Earl was still in diapers during this time.

This interest in medicine continued through Harold’s childhood. Like his two older siblings, Marlon and Sarah, he was admitted into the Royal Academy. There, he was taught anatomy, medicine, and healing magic.

Healing magic, it turns out, isn’t the same as elemental magic. Instead, it has a lot to do with the heart of the healer. By using the power of love, a healer is actually able to heal magically. As a result, he needs a pure heart in order to heal properly and he has been trained to protect that purity. It is summarized in the hippocratic oath: do no harm.

After graduating from the academy, he spent a few years as a healer in the capital. When Marlon formed the Grey Ghosts, he invited Harold to serve as the chief healer. Since then, he has worked with the Grey Ghosts in that capacity. During this time, he was trained in weapons and combat; though he has rarely had need to use them. Recently, the Grey Ghosts were posted in the Kingdom of Dalton, where they successfully thwarted an assassination attempt on the life of the Princess. After being stabbed by a poisoned knife, the Princess was healed by Harold, while Marlon saw to the assassins health.

Commonly known as the Florence Nightingale effect, the Princess immediately became enamored with Harold and persuaded her Father, the King, to let her marry him. Harold, unfortunately, was not in a position to accept, and was forced to offend the Princess, the King, and all their subjects by declining her hand.

Their anger was considerable and might have been deadly, had it not been for his brother Marlon’s intervention. Marlon helped his brother escape and then sent him to their sister, Sarah, who had gained a reputation of her own as an archaeologist. Her specialty was in recovering magical artifacts. While some were in remote tombs, she has experience obtaining them in more discreet ways, which has led her to be very good at staying hidden.

Other: Nothing at the moment.

Name: Septimus Ashenveil

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Spoiler! :
Image

Background:

Septimus was born to Lias and Aelia Ashenveil. Lias was an ex-navy man, which would inspire Septimus’s knowledge of boats, tides, and all things pertaining to sea-life. His mother was a part-time painter and a teacher.

Septimus had six siblings, all of which were in some profession pertaining to wizardry. He had six long-lived (one of the many advantages of being a prolific wizard is a more-than-average life span) uncles, also magicians. His parents had never planned to have seven children themselves, as it happens. They knew that sorcerers were often hunted down and killed, however, Septimus was one of the two twins, the youngest of the family.

There was, in the early years of Septimus’s life, much debate - hushed, though, in case anybody overheard - whether he or his twin sister, Lilith, would be the sorcerer. They knew for definite when, at the age of nine, Septimus accidentally killed a city guard who was about to attack his father over gambling debts. Septimus’s parents managed to hush the accident up, pretending an accident, but since then they’ve been wary of their son and eager to send him off to a wizarding academy as soon as possible. Their family certainly had the money for it: their eldest son, Lucian, was a prominent lawyer in the country, and the second-eldest, Angus, a wealthy merchant.

Aelia made sure Septimus was cultured, sending him off to a Wizarding Academy to study at the age of fifteen. And boy did he get his education. Unfortunately, being curious, he also found out some things about sorcerers which his mother would have preferred where left for later, when he would have been more ready to accept them. Namely, that all sorcerers were depicted as monstrous villains, and the last sorcerer, a dragon mage by the name of Nicol, corrupted to the core, still lives.

Furthermore, he also found out that his magical energies were far greater than what a normal human body could contain, and Nicol was the only creature that could help him. He also - a growing suspicion of his he’s never voiced to anyone, nor thought about too hard - believes his mother might not be fully human (le twist!) because otherwise, all evidence points to his premature, explosion-related death.

After six years of studying and learning what he could about sorcerers, sick of being treated like he was some wild animal and desperate for more knowledge, he spent his savings to buy a decent boat (he came from a well-off family, economically speaking) and, armed with his skills, knowledge, and a dusty map, set off to find Nicol, but more than that, answers.

Unfortunately, he didn’t find Nicol, but he did find that there are many things a sorcerer can see and understand many common mortals cannot.

One day, however, on his return home, passing a Siren’s Cove, a great and terrible storm hit his ship. He tried to do his best for several days, but the storm still raged on, and eventually his ship was blown to matchsticks and he was swept away. After events transpired, such as the meeting with his eventual fiance, he returned home to his mother, it being six years since he last saw her, but found her missing under mysterious circumstances. An arcane symbol was scrawled onto the wall of the living room, and the house had been torched. He found no bodies though. So he set out to his fiance, a seamstress and songstress, to seek help and advice. She also happened to be an expert on Runes, and so our sailor hoped he could find answers. With each passing day, he’s more and more convinced Nicol is the only one who has answers. And with Nicol, the mysterious rumor of Evandor, city of lost treasures and arcane remedies.

Other: he smokes a pipe, and is rather fond of good spirits, although he does his best not to overdrink. He is a sailor, after all. He also has a wolfhound familiar, Cain (as shown in the picture)

Name: Astrid LeBeau
Age: 23
Gender: Female

Appearance:
Spoiler! :
Image

But with this armour and bow:
Spoiler! :
Image

Background: Astrid's father always wanted a son but what he got instead was a squalling baby girl who took her mother's life when she came into the world.

Her father was a warrior born, he'd travelled the lands and crossed every sea and seen treasures young eyes could only dream of. At thirty two he was old for a warrior and ready to hang up his sword and make a lot of children. The woman he took for his wife was young and fair, at just eighteen she'd come fleeing from a war in the Southern lands, with auburn hair and skin like milk. The wise woman told Astrid's father his Northern seed would be too strong for her. But they paid no heed and the birth was long and difficult. Astrid's father was at first resentful of the child who took away his young wife.

He wrapped the baby in his cloak and left the house at once, instead hiring rooms in the lower town. It was there he hired a milk mother to take care of his daughter and he worked as a city guard for two years. But once the girl was weaned, they left the city that he loathed. Her father worked as a sword for hire, which wasn't easy with a child in tow and aging bones, but her father was still strong and fierce and men had need of good swords.

Astrid grew up around the men and she grew big and strong, taking easily to their way of life. She learned to ride a horse of her own at a young age and was caring for her father's sword before she could lift it off the ground. She got her first bow at five, made for her by her father who said she might as well know how to defend herself. After that, there was no parting them and father and daughter worked side by side. Astrid still remembers the day with pride that her father first demanded they be paid the wage of two hired swords and not just one.

Her father is old now. He's lived fifty five long years and its only Astrid's fierce nature that keeps them both in work, though more often than not they work for one man's wages.

Other: Over the years, men have tried to take Astrid to their beds, though none have gone so far as to attempt to marry her. They've all fallen short of that madness at least. But Astrid has the spirit of the North and she's a dangerous woman to ride. That's not to say that she didn't take some of them up on the offer, but she never beds the same man twice and anyone who attempts to force her soon meets with the edge of her blade.

Name (nickname optional): John “Blackjack” Hag
Age: 43
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Spoiler! :
]Image

Background: John is a self made man, having grown up as an orphan in Ilyria. He was sailor of a smuggling ship for much of his early life until he was made a captain. Several years later after having one too many unpleasant experiences with the law, John decided to go legal.

By now he had enough money to buy a small fleet of ships which he used to form his own trading company. He was a huge success, using his personal knowledge of the sea and ship lines to intercept the post ship, giving him the drop on his opponents and on more than one occasion personal knowledge of their accounts and private lives. Through traditional means and the occasional underhand tactic, such as pirating some of his opponent's ships, Hag Trading is the third largest company on the continent. Over the course of his rise to riches Hag has developed a terrifying reputation among the traders and merchants. His word is iron and he will honour every deal made but he is not a man to be crossed, having bankrupted a centuries old Trading Company due to their ill-treatment of him when he briefly served on one of their ships as a boy and murdering several business partners after they defaulted on debts or failed to fulfil their side of the deal.

He despises the older companies, run by the nobility, and has agreed to fund the expedition in the hope that whatever secrets held in Evandor could give him the edge against his competitors.

Other: Carries his eponymous Blackjack with him at all times. It is covered in runes that burn anyone it hits. Having to fight off pirates more than once in his life John is deadly with as well as being a rather adept boxer.

Name: Sarah Grey

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Something like this:
Spoiler! :
Image

Sarah wears practical, useful sort of clothes, with enough pockets. Sarah sets great store by pockets. She has grey eyes and shoulder-length brownish hair. Her skin is currently tanned, with a few faint freckles over her nose. She is a bit taller than middling height, and strong.

Background: Sarah, child of Marlene and Derrick Grey, had an unusually good education for a girl. Admitted into the Royal Academy, she decided to pursue magical archaeology and history. The study was more difficult and more dangerous than she had anticipated, but fortunately, she had two friendly brothers who, in their spare time, gave her basic instruction in combat and healing.

Magical archaeology is a risky business, and her speciality subjects included DETIWAVLS (don't even touch it with a very long stick), YTIABT (yes that is a booby trap) and INASAIL (it's not as simple as it looks).

After graduating (minus her little toe on her left foot—it had been ingested by an irritable spirit of the eighth degree) she headed off to the jungle mountains of Othopia and spent some years studying the ancient Triope people and the many artefacts to be found there. She learnt much about magical creatures and their behaviour, as well as tribal politics, which taught her to be sly.

Sarah then discovered the wonders of the !khitsu desert, where she researched the local magical artefacts, picked up her fierce tan and found that her YTIABT lector was absolutely correct—she was able to survive in the desert by triggering water-pitfall traps and drinking the spoils. She found, among other valuable objects, a small, sturdy pickaxe which never dulled or failed to irritate her by chatting incessantly, a vial of reusable, instant cyanide powder and a book of ancient jokes in Xisi!elo, of which she translates one a day for her amusement.

Having crossed the desert (now minus the little toe on her right foot—it had been imploded by a symmetry-obsessed genie) she was in no hurry to cross it again and stayed in a friendly town north of Ilyria. She became an apothecary and saw to her various hobbies—cultivating rare magical plants, breeding the smaller varieties of magical creatures and trying to figure out what made most of her precious artefacts so valuable. She was soon joined by her brother Harold, who had invoked the wrath of an entire country in her absence.

Other: She has picked up a lot of tricks on her travels. All those pockets aren't for nothing...

Okay folks, we've started.

The meeting place is Myrtle's Grove, a nice little seaside town.

Cam, I brought Pell in, can you have him take care of the horses they came in on? They'll need to be unloaded, brushed, and fed. Feel free to make up details about the house, as well as going into more detail about your character.

Barefoot, I left it wide open for you to come in and post whatever you like. Harold and Sarah are on friendly terms, but Sarah has been out of contact for a while. If you could, I'd like you to end it by having Sarah go out to meet Blackjack to discuss the Evandor expedition. This will give Italian an opening.

Italian's character, as I've previously discussed with him, is a sailor. He's also interested in courting Sarah. He's also got a quick temper and a jealous nature, which means that as soon as he sees a strange man in Sarah's house, he'll assume it's a rival and challenge him to a duel. Italian, if you could handle this, I'll let you write as much as you feel comfortable with, keep in mind that Barefoot will want to become involved, so don't take too long.

Rydia, Redfang18, and Lothbrok: Please go ahead and do an introduction post. Leave an opening so that your characters can have a meeting with Sarah Grey, where details of the expedition can be given.

The details for that expedition are up for discussion, and I'd like some input from everyone. For each post that's done in story, I'd like at least three done in the DT.

Posted. Cam, what exactly the monster looks like or does is up to you. The point is that Pell will have some trouble unloading the horses. Maybe Ita and Grif can socialise (or antisocialise as the case may be) for a post, and then we'll be off to meet up with the others.

Spoiler! :
Sorry I delayed the departure a bit, but Cam should get to post too before we all rush off :)
