Mailice here with a short summary of what we discussed yesterday (or today for my timezone. )
- The story takes place from August to September / October 1928. (Start would be Friday, the 10th August with a meet-up.) - The murder would take place on Monday, the 13th August 1928 - HOG was shot by a passing car. - HOG´s real name is Stavros Balaskas. His parents are immigrants from Greece. - From the chat I can see that HOG is 29 - 30 years old, so probably born in 1899. (Maybe his birthday was on the same day as his murder? poor guy) - HOG had some arguments with his parents. They live in Seattle. - The parents arrive after the funeral. When the coffin is shovelled shut? => from what I see in the chat, the funeral would be very small, because nobody pays for it, that´s why nobody is in the cemetery, like the priest and our characters? - HOG is a devout believer and has a tiny calendar with him. (That´s why the priest tries at least to get him a respectful funeral.) There are some strange symbols for his work in the speakeasy
How our characters connect to HOG / Speakeasy / first meet-up
- Meet up on Friday. (Maybe we get a glimpse of HOG) - Maybe it´s so full that we have to share a table? That would be our first meet-up. - Caroline (Elinor) = goes there to have a good time. - Julian (Plume) = maybe just a short break where he wants to enjoy a glass. - Sophie (Mailice) = she just came back from trafficking alcohol and now wants to enjoy her weekend, and maybe draw something. She just spoke with him, because he was counting the bottles. => Wouldn´t that also mean, that Julian and Sophie know each other a bit before the story starts?
- Louis (looseleaf)?
Some additional information:
- Maybe we could add some holidays in Chicago (like Columbus Day in October) - Albert the only cop who is interested in solving the murder case. - How do our characters grow during the story? What traits are changing if any? etc... (we could add that in our character profiles)
As always if there is anything missing or wrong, just say.
Do we want to meet today to keep discussing? I think we should probably have at least one more meeting to solidify details before we begin - how does sound to everyone?
With Louis's connection to the speakeasy/HOG: He's a regular at the Golden Vanderbilt and started going after his uncle died and he moved to Chicago. He heard about it from a friend of a friend, but can't really remember who. Since he's a regular, he's seen HOG before, but he's never talked to him and frankly ignores him most of the time.
We could postpone it, but we can go on without looseleaf today. I think we will only answer the last questions today anyway, like who killed HOG? and What is his last word? (And maybe how we are going to start) I think then we can actually leave the rest to fate or our own mind during the role-play.
Ok, I created the thread and I think I made you all storybook managers.. correct me if I'm wrong. I went with the last name we discussed, but we can always change the name if we want. :)
