there are general arguments but it's mostly white vs black

of course, there can be some inter-alliance rivalries for example: pawns always resent their powerful teammates because the powerful ones send the pawns to their deaths.

Well, if pieces get traded off, usually bishops and lights get pitted head to head. So maybe the white knight and the black bishop are rivals, eh?

That sounds fun.
Would the rivalry stem from one of them defeating the other in a past game? Or would it be something else?

Okay, @QuoolQuo. If you wanna be rivals, you want my bishop to have killed your knight or vice versa?

Cool, also I just have small question
Do all the pieces of one colour start in one place or their traditional positions on a chessboard? Also, what exactly is the relationship between them and how do they communicate?

@JoyDark the rivalry sounds fun and I’m perfectly happy if my knight dies in this round

@QuoolQuo yes all of the pieces start off in their traditional positions. Their relationship . . . well . . . it's more neutral. They get hostile and insults are often exchanged, but the relationship between the two teams is the MOST hostile.

Also, they kind of communicate mind-to-mind. Er. The pieces on one team communicate mind-to-mind.

Rules of the Chessboard

Spoiler! :
Please keep in mind that many of these rules can be bent with permission from the owner of the storybook

  • All pieces move like in the game, Chess
  • Kings can castle with the rook
  • Townspeople can vow themselves to one of the pieces (i.e. White King, Black Knight) by saying "I vow myself to [Piece's formal name]"
  • Stay on your own team. Do not form irregular alliances.
  • Do not befriend any piece other than your teammates
  • Do not disobey your King and Queen
  • Do not move without the King and Queen's permission
  • Do not use your abilities unauthorized
  • Do not betray
  • Kings can surrender by removing their crown and sticking it in the ground, upside down
  • Do not disobey the Rules
  • Rebellion against the rules will mean certain death

Alright, just another small question (because that’s all I seem able to do)
With movements, do the pieces take turns or do they set off all at once?

Ah, you see, in the first game, they all moved one at a time, one piece at a time, alternating between white and black at sunrise and sunset. However, they can all roam free once the second game starts, as they begin to notice. After that, it's pandemonium. Obviously, the Knights are the first to move. They are the only piece that can jump over the pawns. After that, the other pieces will pester the pawns with messages to move. Then, the pawns will move, followed by the powerhouses (Queens, Bishops, Rooks). In fact, the King can also play an active role in strategizing with the other pieces. Since each team can communicate mind-to-mind, it makes the strategizing much easier.
