Hi there! As the title of this thread suggests, this is the discussion topic for the Roll for Initiative roleplay over in the realm. I don't have a lot planned for this roleplay so far, but I thought it would be fun to bring this story idea back. :)

Expect to see my characters and first post up soon!

I plan to join but I've gotta figure out who to join with first and all that, so it may take a hot minute.

That's okay, @TheMulticoloredCyr! I can't wait to see who you throw in. :)

And awesome, @LZPianoGirl! I also need to brush up on my limited knowledge, so we can learn together. :P

While you're both picking your characters, I have a quick question for you. I originally had this roleplay set in the woods, but I'm really liking the idea of it being closer to a tavern. Do you think it would be a good idea to switch up the plot so everyone is near the tavern and decide to go into it?

(So they meet up like in a stereotypical D&D campaign?)

I just came up with the idea on the fly, so I wanted to run it by other people first. :)

I like that idea! That would be a cool introduction to our characters.

Oh, also, are the characters from the real world and are teleported into D&D or are they from some fantasy universe and have just.. appeared wherever they are?

@LZPianoGirl, they can be from wherever you want them to be from! I've actually run a roleplay just like this one two times before, and I had characters from all sorts of stories in the two of them - some were from fanfictions, one was from a high fantasy world, and another two were from Earth. It's really up to you. :)

No matter what, though, they'll end up in this D&D world looking like some kind of D&D character! You're free to run with that however you want.

Edit: Just to clarify, their appearances/abilities can be mostly the same! It really depends on what they're like back in their original world. If they're already an elf and an archer on that world, then you're free to keep them as that here. Do whatever makes you have the most fun!

Usually, in rp's like these, there's not really any limits as to where your characters can be from. I regularly use characters from all kinds of universes and stories. One of the ones I was considering writing for is a vampire pirate whose girlfriend is an only slightly horrifying mermaid.

Ahhhhh Mage, my D&D loving heart is feeling so happy! Can I join?
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

You definitely can, @luminescence! Welcome to the roleplay. <3

I'm going to go edit the first post of the roleplay so it says our cast is near a tavern, but then I'll get my actual first story post up! :)

The first post has been edited! Now I'm writing my next post. It's going to be a lot longer than any of my other posts will be, but I had some golden scenes from a previous roleplay that I just had to recycle for this one. :)

Most of the posts in this roleplay will be pretty short, though!

Posted! I'm sorry for how long my first post was, but the others definitely will be on the shorter side. I just had to establish my two characters.

Welcome to the roleplay, then, @Squid! <3

It won't have a lot of the rolling usually involved in D&D, but it'll be set in a D&D world with the same amount of freedom you can usually get in a campaign. :)

I'm on the fence about joining. If nothing else, I'll read it =P
