They may call him Mal for short, but in order to keep his loyalty to the Conclave a secret, he can’t tell them the Conclave changed his name, otherwise they’ll think the Conclave changed him. I would actually like to play the idea of some of the people from the Council recognizing him because until the age of eight, when he was taken by the Conclave, he grew up with them and trained with them.
