white, white water cascading down the smooth, sanded rock freezing in the cold air droplets of water, splattering on smiling faces
but a sad face stands out. tears running down his face like a waterfall he turns and leaves
but then stops and catches my eye. i shoot him a smile but he returns it with a frown
and my face falls he continues watching
a little fern grows on the tall rock standing vertically
i can feel eyes baring into my back but when i look over he isn't looking at me
he is looking at the fern and he sends a small smile my direction for it is a survivor

the pebbles may hurt and sharp sticks poke but that doesn't matter your focusing on
the earthy dirt the soft moss growing in patches off the trail
the blue sky turning gray and little droplets of water falling on your upturned face this
this is the true definition of barefoot.

cherry petals on bike wheels (theme: strange things are strangely addictive)
spring has come and you know it because of the pink cherry blossoms
they pile up against the curbs in the street on heavily weighed down trees everywhere
once you get started on riding your bike through them you can't really stop
it is magical
spinning off your tires leaving a trail throughout the neighborhood like a confetti cannon
strange things are strangely addictive

Hi Hannah! Your nature title caught my eye so I decided to check this out, and I'm super glad I did!! ^-^ I especially like your second poem because it describes being barefoot so well, even the not-so-great parts like stepping on sharp twigs. And the way you turn it around to focus on the good parts about being barefoot is absolutely wonderful. The stanza about rain is so beautiful too! It made me imagine just standing under the clouds and feeling the rain, and now I feel so much more peaceful and calm. Awesome job with these poems; keep writing!! C:
juniper trees everywhere sagebrush dotting the landscape trees with great bushy tops
all but one the top was cut off to see the sunset but it is still living
when you sit on top you can see all of the mountains and the bright orange sun behind them
late at night little stars come out speckling the sky
far away from the city lights, they sparkle and shine lizards come out early in the morning easy to catch
when the generator comes on all us kids run to the grandparents trailer little traditions like this make a big difference.

when i first heard that the dog was gone my heart pounded
my ears thrummed my body filled with adrenaline but for what?
what does it matter with out her? why do I even care about anything anymore? why does it have to be this way?
stupid road stupid driver stupid time
why couldn't the vet fix her? why did they hardly even try? they just looked at her and said nope she won't live
Why???

they don't have to deal with just the fact they don't have a home but being kicked, shoved, hurt, ignored they are tougher than us
They are considered as eyesores like the untouchables before buddha
hurting them isn't going to help.
so stop it give them lunch
you shout
but who listens?
only them. but that might make their day

driving past scenic meadows and valleys over rivers and streams
to my cousins unsuspecting of my arrival
they aren't home they are watching the football game
when we arrive there I can't contain myself much longer
I jump out from behind my grandma and yell,
it's me! it's hannah!
they run away from their games and hug me
we didn't know you were coming!
we run around the back field all night feeling the wet grass between our toes
and eating the stale popcorn from the stands
that
is euphoria

some people say happiness is rainbows puppies and marshmallows
but they are wrong happiness is: exploding with joy on the fourth of july wanting to burst with a song
happiness is feeling the wind in your hair and riding your bike without training wheels learning to swim being with family
and friends. having someone to trust and knowing everything will be okay and that there is someone in the world who understands
that is happiness

Perseverance isn't easy you have to deal with doubt hard times rude people
and still push through.
some say that perseverance is getting help with math or something that is good
but perseverance is pushing through hard times of grief and despair it is trying fall after fail

Hope can be something like hoping that you get a puppy
or a unicorn stuffed animal for your birthday
Or it can be
I hope someone understands I hope that Aunt Jane doesn't die I hope that this will be over
It can be I hope my outfit looks okay That I don't lose my pen
But most importantly:
I hope that hope doesn't go away.
Hope isn't wanting It is wishing
