poem #40: follow your heart, not head (really short)
my head tells me to not hope but my heart tells me the opposite.
what harm will it do? none.
so I hope. and guess what?
it happens.

i see vivid images in my head of running laughing crying
euphoria satisfaction happiness despair
pulled from the depths of my heart it hurt to rip them out and bring them to my conscience.
but it was worth it cause now I am reliving them even the sad ones and that is hard
but it is life and life is worth it just like I am especially after i pulled up these memories

droplets of water sliding down rejoicing, green leaves and down the gutter on to spiderwebs
holding on the delicate strands glistening in the first light of the day that is waking up the natural world and life

little knobs growing off of long, spindly twigs stretching toward the sky
leaves clinging to them sheltering the earthy brown dirt that sits below it green
growing delicious purple skinned figs with a seedy, grapefruit inside that grows green towards the bottom.

sweet smelling soft, feathery leaves grow on a soft, mint green stem: sage
reaching toward the sky oval shaped leaves outstretched soaking in the beautiful sunshine while it lasts
and wilting in the rain staying short so the water can fill it up energize it
to be able to spread seeds around and rebirth when it is gone

Hannah you are doing sooooo great!!! I mean 46 poems wow, I haven't yet written a single poem till now and look at you. You have inspired me to write and I am gonna write a poem right away.
Hello, other Hannah! It was really nice to read through your poems. I love your country imagery, and the recurring themes of rain, barefoot, playing with family and friends, and especially the cherry blossoms.
you can message me with anything: questions, review requests, rants are you a green room knight yet? have you read this week's Squills?
Thanks so much, @ImaginativeAlice! I am glad I inspired you to write poetry. Nice to meet you too, @Hannah!

the first day after a year and a month of waiting impatiently the bus finally rounded the corner
bright yellow, seats all spaced out but same people same annoying second graders different people inside and different bus driver
so much change yet so natural and because of this by the second day the feeling is all gone

after all this time not much has changed externally nor visibly internally but the scars tend to hide
lost friends that found someone else or moved away to find an open school.
but some change isn't so bad like a new bus driver who didn't yell at kids and asked us how our day was but most of all
I can never take things for granted again. cause this year showed me that there are things you can lose that you never would have thought
and it was that awareness that made me smile as we approached the brick school that we hadn't been in for a year seeing old teachers
and friends in different classes new ones too that we had only seen through a screen. euphoria came to me on that day
and half left the next. why do we have to be so adaptive? so in a hurry? I am in a hurry to answer that question

this summer, we will stay friends i promise to not move on
but then you did. you abandoned me you broke my heart in two i can't trust anyone any more thanks to the two of you
i have no feelings and i am numb inside i don't have anyone to understand except myself
and i want someone else i still need you please don't go but it is too late
and these pleads are lost on the wind like your memories of promises and dedication
and me
