the door opens
i startle awake
from my troubled and
tear-soaked sleep
she walks in
exactly the same as she was
months ago
her blond hair streaming behind her
her shirt covered in pink flowers
she runs to me
i run to her
i call her name
she calls mine
i grab her in my arms
she hugs me tight
i hug her back
i never want to let her go
we cry onto each other's shoulders
i have finally seen my sister
after months of heartbreak
she is here
with me
where she belongs

i press play
my headphones go on
and i enter a world of my own
i bend and sway
like a tree in the wind
i tap my foot
against my faded brown floor
my worn cushion seat
bounces with me
to the rhythm of the tune
in my music world
i fly on clouds
the birds dance with me
the sun laughs
and sets with a splash of pink
and i grin
and laugh with it
the moon smiles
and shines the way home for me
she tucks me in
and kisses my head
"good night, euphoria."
i wave goodbye
as she floats back
to her perch
i press pause
and close my eyes
ready to do it all again
when the sun rises

when all of this is over
when all of this is done
we will hug
without gloves and sanitizer
we will laugh
seeing each other's faces
we will mourn those
who have gone before us
but we will see them again
but not
right
now
euphoria must wait
a little while

the mighty ruler
that i bow before
is no human
or robot
nay
i bow before
the potato king
he is a fair and just leader
he is kind and smart
but what makes me
overjoyed
is when i think
of that day...

it was the spud festival
when we celebrate
all the new spuds
born to proud
potato mothers
the potatao king
was there
on one of the floats
his was shaped
as a potato with a crown
i was standing in the front lines
closest to the float
waving my potato flag proudly
and i called
"long live the potato king!"
and my king looked down at me
and smiled
he looked
at me
and smiled
at me
his lowly and loyal subject
i still wonder why
but for now
i am euphoric
with the knowledge
that i was acknowledged
by my king

this feeling
i know half of it
euphoria
but the other half
what is it?
it's wonderful
but i've never felt anything
like it
it started when
he said those words
to me
you look pretty today
he kept walking down the hall
leaving me starstruck
he said those words
to me?
me?!
a few weeks later
i walk with him
down the hall
with my boyfriend
a few months later
he says three words
i love you
i love you too
a year later
i cry in my room
alone
he left me
for another girl
how could i ever love someone again?

euphoria
is the best feeling
and my favorite one
but there are things
that take euphoria away...

sadness
the opposite of euphoria
when you are so sad
that your heart shatters
and the pieces fly away

i sob
in the corner
alone
scared
with no one there
to love me

alone
you said you would
be there
but where are you?
why didn't you come
when i needed you?
why?
now is when i need you
but how do i know
that you hear what i say?
how do i know
that you listen?
do my screams in the night
evaporate in the cold air?
do my pleads fall on deafened ears?
i need you
please

we were there for each other
we held hands
and said the words
and we meant the words
at least
i did

i was there for you
when you had a bad day at work
and you needed a beer and a hug
you were there for me
when we tried to have children
but it didn't work

i loved you so much
i thought you loved me back
but i was wrong
you loved another
so now i am by myself
wondering
what did i do wrong?

i'm a person too
just because i'm younger
or shorter
or i look different
doesn't mean you have to ignore me
please
i exist
where are you going?
are you leaving me?
okay...
i'm used to it by now
but it still hurts

you were always there for me
but now you've passed
are you in the ground?
are you in the sky?
are you somewhere in between?
i don't know
all i know is
you were here with me
now you are gone
and my heart is broken

many things are wrong
with this green earth, and with us.
we attack each other.

lashing out, we hurt
people who don't deserve it.
we really are cruel.

why do we do this?
why must we destroy others?
do we have to fight?

it shatters my heart
to see us doing these things
i hate what we are.

please don't ignore me
i'm trying so hard
i just wish you noticed
that there's a little piece of me here
and it's slowly disappearing
into nothing

I haven't been posting, but I caught up today!



we were a family
seeing each other every day
but now i'm with new people
and my happiness
is dead




i'm alone
my heart shatter and peiced together
in a thousand ways
but you knocked on my door
my sister forever
i was under the covers of my bed
i hadn't moved for days
you crept out
i thought you abandoned me
but i was wrong
you stayed




you played some music
did my laundry
made us food
and you stayed with me
even though you didn't have to
you slept in the spare room
i didn't talk
so you talked for both of us
you got me back on my feet
fed me
cared for me
hugged me
and you never left

i started to come out of my shell
you still stayed
i spoke one word
"thanks"
you were stunned
"of course!
i'll always be here for you."
you don't know how much you mean
it means so much to me that you stayed

we left the house
and went to the park
we sat in the sunshine
and i smiled
i spoke more words
"it's nice out today."
you smiled
"yes, it is!"
i looked at you
"thank you for coming back, euphoria."
you hugged me
"everyone deserves to feel me
my heart goes out to those
who don't
so i come to help them!"

you taught me many things
euphoria
you showed me poetry
a vent to expel
my heartbreak
i wrote thousands of poems
and we burned them together
the sadness was still there
along with the heartbreak
but lessened
i had destroyed some of it
and it wouldn't come back
as long as you were there
