Some days
the barrow squeaks
the trowel breaks
you stub your toe on the paving
and lose three seedlings to slugs.

Some days
you down tools and retreat
boil the kettle
dunk a biscuit
and come back tomorrow.

A lark in a flock of owls
misses out
or passes out from exhaustion.

EDIT:
I kept thinking about this version, so:

Today was a total Monday
of a Tuesday
but at least I had an Easter egg

Spoiler! :

I want to get at least one more "proper" poem in by the end of the month, but little bits like this STILL COUNT.

EDIT

#14, revised

Today was a total Monday
of a Tuesday
but when I looked up
there were stars on the skies of London.

Time is slippery
runs between the pages of books
into the headset of a group chat
down the wires of the DVD player.
Time is slippery,
and I have terrible grip.

croaks: hear me

Now I lay me down to bed,
whirling thoughts inside my head:
all the day's events outspread;
all the days that lie ahead.
Somebody I know once said
I should just relax instead;
if i could but shred these fears,
sleep a night untouched by dread.

Spoiler! :

Cyrch a chwta! Another Welsh one.

The world goes on
beyond these walls;
faces passing by
outside / inside
time passes, facing
these walls; beyond,
on goes the world.

Spoiler! :

Today I went the furthest I've been from home in over a month, to help my friend with some medical needs. It was strange and strangely normal.

I like the idea of the structure in this, but I feel like I'm too tired to do it justice. One to come back to.

Spoiler! :

Rereading it the day after, a one-word change makes me so much happier with it! There we go.

Injured knees take badly to inactivity.
Constricted routine reduces motion
and in turn moving parts get stiffer.

Before moving, stop - stretch slowly,
extend three times with care
lest new motion cause more damage than the stillness.

Spoiler! :
Eh, idk.

daydreaming of gardens;
of damp soil crumbling through fingers,
patted down into pots,
soaking up water from the can;
of feathery carrot tops
and broad, veined cabbage leaves,
shifting gently in a quiet breeze;
of flowers,
grasses,
sticks and stones;
daydreaming of gardens
and seeds I could have sown.

It rains every morning on my balcony
even on a sunny day
even when there's nary a cloud
it rains on my balcony in the morning
because Mrs Number Twenty-Nine
is watering her plants.

Sun soaked
wrapped in rays
of wonderful warmth
baking blissfully.

I definitely didn't get to 23:47 and suddenly remember I hadn't written a poem...

mais je ne sais pas quoi.
Peut-être c'est ne pas importante
et je ne vais pas écrire ce soir.
