Yay I'm excited for you! You've got this! I'm really looking forward to reading your poetry Hedwiggle and hope you throw a few humorous poems in there since I've loved the humorous ones you've written. :) Also if you run out of inspiration -> we've got the prompt central to cover that. Whoop poetry!

iii. the grizzly and the man

one step, two step,
the grizzly pads over.
three step, four step,
the man edges back.
five step, six step,
the grizzly growls.
seven step, eight step,
the man’s at the edge.
nine step, ten step,
the grizzly roars.
eleven step, twelve step,
the man fell off the cliff.

Spoiler! :
I was in the mood to write about someone's death. ;-;

iv. Fear and Confidence

i stare down at the crowd,
from up high on the stage.
i see someone lurking.

is that Fear?
my mouth opens,
and i hear my jaw click.

this isn't right.
i shouldn't be up here.
i'm a back-up.
i shouldn't be up here.

no no no no.

i look down at the crowd,
from up high on the stage.
i see someone lurking.
is that Confidence?

my mouth opens,
and the words flow out.
just three words
from the Wizard of Oz

"Dorothy? Who's Dorothy?"
was all i had to say.
just three words.

Spoiler! :
A very free-verse/unedited/casual poem and I like it this way.

v. the soup

i stumbled
when i walked out of the kitchen,
the bowl of soup shaking
in my hands.
they're going to try it.
maybe i should hide.
maybe i should spill the soup on purpose.
maybe i should do something
so they won't eat it.
have to do something.
they're seated on the dining chairs.
talking and laughing.
waiting for the soup.
i smile crookedly and
– splosh! – the soup almost fell.
oh no.
i have to hide.
i can't spill it. i'll look dumb.
so i set the bowl on the table
and squeeze my eyes shut
so i could ignore the disgusted looks.
there's silence.
oh no.
too much salt?
too much pepper?
i peel my eyes open again,
heart thumping in my ribcage.
they're all eating eagerly.
is it... good?
yes,
yes it is.

Spoiler! :
Sooo haha I guess you could say this is me trying to let off some of my anxiety in a light form haha ._. But then confidence sparks and yeah .-.

vi. destruction

the world is crumbling
chaos far and wide
people firing guns
monstrous cries of battle
children wailing
for their mothers
death and evilness
everywhere

Spoiler! :
Yeah so this one is sorta dark. I mushed two prompts together: an image from a dream / a poem less than 25 words. :]

Lib you're on such a roll! I feel like your poetry is getting better and better - these last couple have very sharp imagery, and even if the last one was a bit dark, I liked the mood/emotion you created in it. There was a great playfulness/innocence amidst the anxiety to the April 5th poem and the emotion comes across really well. Keep up the good work, it looks like you should have no trouble reaching your napo goal too!

Hi Liberty, I love your poetry so far! Your fourth and fifth poems were very relatable to me, as someone who personally deals with a lot of anxiety for no good reason.

"Dorothy? Who's Dorothy?"
was all i had to say.
just three words.

oh no.
i have to hide.
i can't spill it. i'll look dumb.

These two parts in particular stood out to me, great examples of how debilitating anxiety can be and how embarrassed you can feel in the moment.

Keep up the great work! :)

vii. flower

periwinkle
a soft violet and blue flower
made from an experienced maker's hand
softer than a fluffy kitten
more delicate than cotton

viii. what to write?

what to write?
what to write?
what to write?

a fairytale, perhaps?
a knight in shining armor
going to save his princess?

nah,
too classic.

what about a short story?
it won't suck up too much time.
but what if i make it too short, though?

nah,
too risky.

maybe a biography.
i'll learn something new, for sure.
and i'll be considered smart.

nah,
too much research.

what to write?
what to write?
what to write?

Spoiler! :
This last one was so sweet and kind of funny too cause a lot of writers could relate to such thought processes. Keep up the great work!
I only put my signature on big cheques.
