april sighs

I'm a week late but here I am! I haven't written poetry in a long time but I want to get back into it. I'm not really looking for harsh critics. If I feel I want to have my poems reviewed I'll post them in the green room, but I'd love some comments!

2016 - late night poetry from my trusty notebook
2017 - traveller with a broken heart
2018 - don't expect greatness

#1 — winged and small

April sighs gently and blows ripples into the ponds
left by recent spring showers
where blossoms float like fairy boats
and dock against the dirt shore.

I used to imagine myself
winged and small
living in the wild.

The blades of grass were taller than me,
the flowers skyscrapers.
I made my house out of twigs and leafs,
my furniture out of walnut shells and twine.

The perfumed breeze would flow
through the cracks in my tiny house.
I would sunbath on top of daisies
until my cheeks and nose were rosy pink.

In the evening,
cicadas would sing their high-pitched song,
frogs would croak along,
and I would rest on a dried grass mattress.

winged and small.

So beautiful and lyrical! Can't wait for the rest of your NaPo poems!
