You've got some great poems in here, Cat #21 made me smile, it's so short, simple and gentle. And your stargazing terzanelle is lovely! I really like:

the last frost

winter's grip has been cruel
but the frosty chains have broken
the sun's smiling touch
has woken the sleeping giant of spring
the daffodils have shaken off their third snow
the winds have started warming
blowing from the south
and i just lay still, smiling
in the tickling rays of warmth
overjoyed for the beginnings of spring, finally

a message to my best friend

i've never had someone quite like you
such a mirror of myself
i feel safer with you
than i sometimes feel with myself

i don't mean to be clingy
but how could i let
someone so perfect for me go?

i'm having such a hard time
seeing you guys talking about being a vegetable
i don't know what i'm to do
with the knowledge of the world
i'm going to snap under the pressure
of the shadows behind me
i've lost my hope

this beat is stuck in my bone
there's no way to get this smile off my face
i can't stop my feet a tappin'
my heart is pumping my blood to the tune
so i guess i'll just keep on dancing
to the sunset and back

growing up

i can barely remember
the time when my face was still round and pudgy
and you could find constellations in my freckles
under my eyes bigger than my dreams.
i know it was then
that your wealth was measured
in pokemon cards and silly bands
and you could rule a kingdom
by running the quickest during freeze tag.
the popular kids were the ones
who make the most kids laugh
or drew the best.
it was all so much simpler then.

i can clearly remember
(and i wish I could forget)
when girls and boys decided they liked each other
and it wasn't gross to hold hands anymore.
i had to stop hanging out with my guys friends
if i didn't want to be teased
and sung the stupid rhyme about sitting in trees together.
i was no longer popular because i could draw,
but rather i was weird
because of my doodles in my notebooks,
the fact that i knew the answers
so i raised my hand and participated,
and still played sports in gym class
even though "i was no good at it."
i was put into a category,
why, i couldn't tell you.
i was now a "nerd",
and that was that.
i was also weird because i didn't like anyone,
but back then, i was just ignored.
things were weird
and overlycomplicated then,
like we were playing a game
i didn't know the rules to.

i don't even want to recall
when the above became magnifyed
and swear words became common vocabulary.
i was now "gay"
(even though i thought it just meant happy
because that's how i read it in narnia
and what my mom and the dictionary said)
because i didn't like guys,
but i just wasn't ready for a "boyfriend" yet,
that was all.
i was made fun of for my beliefs,
like when i stood up for my choice to not swear,
or when i said i wasn't allowed to date until college.
i was told to stop trying to be so perfect,
go make some mistakes,
live a little.
i said no.
they laughed and bullied me some more.
the game is getting too complicated,
and now the rules keep changing.

and i'm not through yet.

30.
stardust in an hourglass
or a poeticized explaination of the title of my thread c:

time slipping through my hands,
starry sand trickling down
through the glass funnel
into a pit of broken stars,
broken promises,
lost time.

i never have the time,
i try, but it's always gone
before I can use it.

the more time i must find,
the more i drop my stars,
shattering them into nothingness
finer than dust.

i'm still learning to be a magician,
fix my stardust,
conjure up some lost time,
fixed, good as new,
break the hourglass to hold the stardust in my palms
to do with it what i please.

for now, i'll just throw it in the air like confetti,
dancing and laughing,
a tear rolling down my cheek,
and try to catch it in my hourglass again,
and maybe write a poem in the scattered stardust.

These last poems are lovely BlueCat! And the auto-fill one actually gives me some good ideas for my own poetry!!
