Bullet says...

14. Jack

There is rain gently falling,
and I never considered
myself a romantic
but I wish
you were here.

I wish you were
lounging on my
(our)
bed, while I clean my
(our)
room, stopping occasionally
for a very soft kiss.

How to even describe
how much I wish
my hand was in yours,
intertwined,
matching rings on our
left ring fingers.

How to tell you
that I think about you
all the time,
even in
mundane moments -
cooking dinner,
sitting in traffic,
brushing my teeth.

You dominate every
part of me, every inch
of skin, every fingertip,
the entire real estate
of my heart.
I wish
you were here to
hear how it beats for you.

One day, you will feel it,
with your hand
placed on my chest
as we lay on my
(our)
bed and stare
at the stars in the ceiling.

Eventually.
Your life is not your own. Keep your hands off it.

When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.
