Sassafras says...

Harvey Amos

He was surprised he didn't crash, speeding as he did through the tight city streets with crossing pedestrians. But he managed to skid to a stop in front of Lizzy's house in mostly one piece. His whole body was shaking as he parked his bike, even taking off his helmet was an ordeal. He could barely even breathe around the fist-sized lump in his throat and he would swear on his mother's life that he wasn't crying but for some reason his world was rendered wavy.

His phone buzzed incessantly in his pocket and, without checking it, he threw it to the ground in a fit of rage, causing a small show of glass and hardware to erupt on the asphalt. He just barely stopped a scream at the tip of his tongue and instead conceded to grabbing a fistful of hair in frustration. But, decided Lizzy probably did not like her men bald, released his grip on himself and sat down in a slump in the grass.

He was just getting up to go inside and fall into Lizzy's bed - and arms - when a car pulled up on the curb. Immediately, Harvey recognized who it belonged to and, unbidden, fresh rage flooded his head.

Lizzy stepped out of the car already on defensive. Harvey barely even noticed her and made a straight bee-line for Simon. However, as he was passing Lizzy, she caught his arm.

"Come on, Harvey. It's not like that. Let's just go inside."

Simon just hung his head. Usually, he'd say "Fuck that" and go off - he was more in the mood for a good scrap now than he'd been in a long time - but something in Lizzy voice stopped him. He gave one last glaring look at Simon before taking Lizzy inside with him.

As soon as the front door shut he was pressing her against it, fighting again the lump in his throat but that feeling went away the closer he held her to him, pressed his lips to hers, and ran his hand through her soft hair. He wanted to ask her what she was doing with that asshole, but let it drop for now and instead guided her slowly to the sofa. Only after a small lifetime of just being with her there, basking in her presence, did he stop and rest his head on her chest.

The sensation of her fingers combing through his tangled hair nearly put him to bed, but there was something in the air that was making it too tense for sleep. He knew it was partly his baggage that was weighing down the atmosphere, but couldn't ignore the feeling of hers as well.

"How was your little date?"

Spoiler! :
I couldn't let this die because I miss my OTP and this needs to be a thing again dammit!!
A pale imitator of a girl in the sky.
