Well that is actually an interesting question: Is a slave a slave if it wants to be a slave?

"Nobody wants to be a slave," Piety said scathingly. "Nobody."

Scabtree let out a hardy laugh.
Go tell that to them!
He gestured to the crowd of chimera being led by a peppy young man, all of them with smiling faces.

Piety stared at the chimera for a long moment, jaw working. Then he whirled on Scabtree. "What are they?" he snapped. "What's been done to them? A memory erasure spell? Mind control?"

They're called Chimera. Basic slave race. They're forged by magic from human and animal parts, magically grown from scratch by your friendly local warlocks. Born to serve.

"That's monstrous," Piety growled, starting toward the group. "It has to end!"

Piety paused and turned on him. "Why? It's a barbaric practice, that's why. Playing god with creatures and constructing them without free will. Free will is a gift, judge, not something to be given and taken by others!"

We haven't taken it from them. Do you see any chains? Any shackles? They can leave whenever they wish. Are you robbed of free will because nature compels you to eat? Or to sleep? They are born with the urge to serve, a need they can fulfil in abundance. As far as they are concerned, they live in a paradise that we built for them

"That's not natural!" Piety pointed behind him. "You said they were created by warlocks. That isn't the natural order of things. It's an abomination."

People wearing shoes isn't "the natural order of things" neither is living in a house or putting clothes on your back.

"Those are objects. That," he pointed again at the chimera, "is twisting people and animals into something they shouldn't be. It's worse than the undead!"

Of course it is. Tell me, Piety, what is your favorite meal?
